I saw a cop trying to get through an intersection with wailing cherries and berries a week or so ago. Everyone pulled over and out of the way except one dumb soccer mom in an SUV who sat there blocking him until he got on the loudspeaker and said "MOVE"! It was frustrating and hilarious to witness.

I actually asked some people this in a group not too long ago and the general response was that they were maintaining their speed and direction so they didn't get hit. If the cop car had pulled out after they exited the freeway, this would have been over much earlier. I don't know why it just sat there and let it go by without pulling out and trying to slow it down, but instead let it go on for far longer than it needed to be.

@@bradhuff256 Yeah, and its because of laws like this I've seen what should be a 5 minute pursuit and pit, turn into a several hour long chase that ends in the suspect killing someone when they crash their car. Also a lot of those tracking tools are kinda hard to use when the suspect uses fake plates, and IDs. So really you're left with two options, chase them and hope to God they don't kill someone, or disengage and tell everyone that crime is okay so long as you drive fast enough. What people need to do is back off, and let them do their damn jobs.

@Brad Huff In my area high speed chases dont happen very often. If a suspect takes off, they just call a helicopter out. The suspect is going to have to quit driving eventually. They usually ditch and run pretty fast cuz you cant outrun the helicopter. Less chance of dangerous crashes that way.

New Mexico officers aren not allowed to PIT over 35 mph and they have to request permission, often it's denied. If the officers PIT without approval they can be fired.
