Hey everybody, long time no see 😀. I'm back after quite a long break. I'm re-energised and ready to go. So this was my first roof clean after the Christmas break. It took me a while to get back into the swing of things, and it was a slow start, but I got going in the end.
As the title suggests, this job deals with the problems, and solutions when working at height, cleaning a roof, when you're working around overhead power lines here in the UK.

Nick. You always amaze me mate. Doing all that on your own. You are a true grafter. I’m glad you said you only get about 3 of 10 quotes. Here was me thinking I was too expensive but I learned the hard way a few weeks ago as to why we charge a lot of money to Clean a roof as it’s not worth the hassle if you are not making a good living. I appreciate you explaining conditions you run into. If you had backed-down on safety with the power connection, you could have been hurt. You also knew what could be done to make it safe. Also, in inadvertently quoting the wrong home, I'm glad you explained to the owner and re-negotiated. (You are so good with the scaffold, setups and breakdowns don't get old.) That roof may have a fair amount of moss, but the work was badly needed and already, the section you started on looks wonderful. The people called the right person. A house crammed against a property line on one side, doesn't make for ease of getting to a roof. That you are able to problem-solve, engineer makes your work enjoyable. I am sorry the Samsung cards were snapping. That quality of manufacturing would be costing people a huge loss in time and material. Despite that, your work is great. Was pleased I could remember that coatings on roof tiles can age, and apparently there is a chance they can be recoated. So kind of the client to feed you a hot lunch in the cold weather. Very good you cleaned and hypo'd the dangerous entrance. Excellent Before and After photos.

Great video. That roof was huge! Perhaps you could get people seeking a quote to identify the house on google maps for you to ensure it’s the right one. That would help weed out those who are not serious too. Lovely job, and whilst it’s a shame you lost some of the footage it didn’t make the video any less interesting. I really enjoyed this one. We have a foot peddle with the pressure adjuster on it for our roof cleans and it saves getting up and down off the scaffolding to adjust pressure as the extending pole gets shorter…I’m absolutely positive you’re aware of this but just wondering why you don’t incorporate it into your set up especially as you work solo? Excellent job btw…massive amount of graft on your own 👊

Yeah,have been caught few times with Google maps,that’s why I always say to customers that price would be from this to this,have to see in person to give accurate pricing.And yeah have to be careful with electrics guys,today washing a house got Smokey 70 year old mains cables,wasn’t my fault,just that cables should have been changed decades ago.When there are cables on the walls look if they are not damaged.Got lucky thank God.

Hello buddy, glad to see you back on line. Another great result gained with some challenging angles and reach on those Roman tiles - great job mate! Totally agree with you re the overhead power lines - carbon fibre poles, aluminium towers, water and humans are all great conductors of electricity - I always get the DNO out to sheath off the OHP to 20' out from the building and they're pretty quick and it's free as you say. I laughed at your comment re dirty, mossy roofs and other videos where they seem to be cleaning relatively clean roofs - used to think it was just me that got the worse ones, glad I'm not alone! 😂😂

Hi mate, I have picked up some great tips from you and wanted to say thanks. If interested you can fit a flow controller on trigger, saves keep climbing down to washer to change pressure up or down. Game changer for me when on own

Even more awesome to start with good neighbors, the freebie for delicious food was adorable ❤ Also you trying to be so understanding with the neighbors and disturb them as little as possible is sweet. I could need some of your integrity 😊 I once wondered if you have problems with quoting only through Google Earth, this job answers it. Getting the wrong house is even a problem I hadn't thought of, pretty tricky. Regarding setting up the scaffold, I don't mind it at all. You don't see anything special in it, but I and most likely quite some others here feel different. A down to earth guy working diligently has a better effect on me than any asmr, no matter if I've seen it a lot of times before. Just a little thing, for me personally the sped up parts where you walk don't feel so good. I don't mind it when you work on a roof or patio, since most of the screen stays the same. But when you walk, the complete screen is speeding up, that feels weird for me personally, especially longer ways like that one in this video. I tend to look away then 😅

Hi mate. You might want to screenshot the Google earth image of their roof and ask them to clarify if that's their roof or not? At least then if you turn up and it's wrong, then it's their fault and you should be able to re-quote them.

Hi Dave. Most of the time I soft wash with a 3-4% SH strength, on occasion i'll use DDAC biocide, but SH is my usual weapon of choice. Hi mate, what scaffolding is it you use? I've got a gardening business, and some of the hedges I do can be 16, 20ft etc so I'm looking at getting a scaffold. Have got a 14-foot tripod ladder for hedges, but occasionally, it's not big enough, so I need to use a 3tier extension ladder, but I feel it would be a lot quicker & safer with a scaffold 👀 great channel mate, different business from me but can relate to the challenges etc you have & enjoy your content👍 all the best

Thanks very much Neil. Yes absolutely, I use the unloader. I know some guys just turn the revs down. But i've been told by quite a few guys that service and repair this type of equipment, that lowering the revs too much can put strain on the engine and cause premature wear. Hope that helps 👍
