This past weekend 100% goes back to what Max Lapierre said about work, and when working class fans go to, or watch a game and see no effort from their team they become disillusioned and often pissed off. To that note, we didnt see that this past weekend and as a fan it was refreshing. The Habs busted their asses against florida and tampa and that work was reflected in the score and two straight victories against two of the better (on paper) teams in the NHL.

Charlie Lindgren established himself in the NHL he was almost 30 years old. For some goalies it takes quite a while to put it all together.

that's what I said when they acquired him, Patrick Laine doesn't have to be a super explosive player who dominates. He's a scoring threat the other teams have to worry about. He adds another dimension. The whole pressure isn't on Caufield and Suzuki to carry the offense. Plus Lane Hutson is incredible at defense, pushes everyone to be better with his energy and talent. I find the team is coming together, playing on the same page. I think a lot changed when Laine came in.

Love hearing these 2 guys talk hockey. About Evans, if the price is right, I'd def resign. He's part of the leadership group of this team (Like Gally) which is an important thing in a rebuild. He has the attitude, professionalism and can play the lockdown game Danault had. He's a rare player and I'm 100% sure we would regret that move down the line.

watching the Rebuilt TV Serie showed me how Evans is an important part of that core group and the friendship that they developed through the years. I'm not sure you want to take that piece out for an extra million.

Caulfield is not a one dimensional great offensive player meaning only a goal scorer, he's a great playmaker/passer too. To me I could vision Caufield not only scoring a lot of goals but he could accumulate a lot of assists too.

I did have a problem with the Primeau question because, like you said, why ask the question if you already know the answer? Also, why ask the question if you know there is no way St-Louis can answer the question honestly? You ask it to get the reaction you got from St-Louis. You ask it to provoke a reaction. That's why players hate the Montreal media.

The day you trade Jake Evans is the day you start looking for the next Jake Evans. There's a history of the Habs having elite defensive centers and then the fans seeing them as mediocre bottom-6 centers who can be easily replaced by rookies and should be traded. They were saying the same stuff with Plekanec, and then with Danault In 2021 everyone said they should let Danault walk because he should ideally be no more than a 3rd-line center and Evans could do the same job just as well and maybe better for much cheaper (despite Danault having centered the best line in the league at 5v5 for two years). Three and a half years later Evans is just now finally filling some of the roles Danault used to fill. Let's not make the same mistakes all over again.

Obviously you don't want to overpay a 28 yr old coming off an anomaly season. But if we're still in the mix by the trade deadline you can't trade any of these guys at the deadline. What a morale killer that would be.

How could anyone think trading Evans is a good idea, they need to be trying to sign him for sure. Guys that CARE like him are so necessary. He works every shift, just like Gallagher. He wants to play for this team, you shouldn’t be getting rid of guys like that

Evans has to be part of this team in the future but not at any price! He has a role and that role isn't worth 5m a year...he is a 4th liner pay him a 4th liner pay and he will be good for the Habs and won't have pressure to score all the time!
