It's annoying that protein powder tends to taste bad and they only sell it in huge boxes, so you can't even test them before buying a year's worth of protein powder.

It’s not an exact science, we add more liquid if need be, more Chile if need be, more mashing if need be, it’s not an exact science. Definitely better than canned beans.

I just started watching your channel maybe two weeks back and I love your authenticity, your personality and how real you are! Been binging your old videos and how you transitioned from raw to just whatever vegan to high protein focused vegan and found it fascinating. I've been paying attention to how I feel on days when I eat a lot of protein and have found I have way more energy and feel better on those days so I'm starting to incorporate more protein into my diet. I was wondering how you get such high amounts in your diet and looking at mine I come nowhere close. So it makes sense when you said you use bars and protein powders too. I'm not coming anywhere close because I don't use any of that 😂

For anyone that hates protein powder: I am with you. Unsweetened soy protein has changed my life. Whole Foods has an unsweetened vanilla, but my favorite is the soy protein from true nutrition. When mixed into a smoothie, the only thing you notice is a slight texture if you do a full scoop (but each scoop is about 30g of protein, so a half a scoop doesn’t hurt if you don’t like the texture). They also offer little testers of each of their flavors separate from the protein if you want to try them for cheap 😊

I literally just started getting True Nutrition's soy protein after a couple years of using Vega's pea protein stuff. So much better tasting and higher protein to calorie ratio! Just keep in mind to eat more if you're hungry - protein or otherwise! Even though I didn't really change height or weight after the age of 14 or so (I just slowly shifted from looking like a teenager to looking like an adult woman), I still ate a lot more as a teenager than I do now in my late 20s. Something that my mom would say would be 2-3 servings for her could easily be a large but relatively normal lunch for me, and I'd still be hungry for dinner that evening. At 15, you can still go through growth spurts too, and if you do you'll definitely be pretty hungry for a few months! For me as an adult, I'm moderately tall with a naturally very solid build, so 80-110g of protein was what I found myself eating when I was tracking and not really trying for protein, albeit on a non-vegan diet

Wooh to Fred Meyers! I recently started buying the Silk Chocolate Protein Chocolate Milk (20g per serving). I add it to my smoothies and end up with like 30g of protein total. I don’t really like the taste of protein powder. I’d rather spend money on tofu, beans, lentils, seeds, nuts, anything like that...rather than a big container of processed powder. I really like the Silk Ultra for a protein boost to my smoothies! I think it’s a cool replacement for those who like smoothies and aren’t too fond of adding protein powder. However, my partner uses Orgain Organic protein powder (vanilla bean), and it tastes pretty good in the smoothies I make for him! I sneak tastes sometimes. xD

You can get pure lysine powder. It only needs a half teaspoon or so to fulfil your daily requirement. That lets you not worry about balancing out your amino acids and get closer to the vegan ideal of picking up your protein from all the low-lysine but protein-containing foods you eat throughout the day. None of the problems of bad flavour of protein powders apply since, worst case, if you don’t like the lysine’s flavour, you down the tiny amount of lysine in one.

@Chispa Aguilar Facts are veganism unfortunately plainly lacks a lot of essential nutrients, and only has the pre-nutrients, putting lots of stress on your body. Not everyone has the same conversion rates, so its an experiment on yourself, to find out on "your journey" what supplements you will need, as you experience small and unidentified ailments over long term and possibly illness. Vit D and Omega 3, ZInc etc, nevermind B12 are not small factors in health. You can check different peoples long term experiences by searching ex-vegan. Or why i'm no longer vegan. The excessive amounts of fiber can harm your gut, and the if foods aren't prepared correctly anti nutrients may be a concern as well. The gut brain axis is also relevant in this regard. On top of that eating plants, do not eliminate all animal deaths. As crop deaths is an inevitable result in big farming practices. And general veganism relies a lot on mono crops, which is harmful to the soil and environment, as well as shipping fruits etc from everywhere to everywhere and highly processing foods. Its very focused on consumerism and technology. It's not actually the good thing its made out to be. I have put a lot of research into this tbh. Supporting small local farms, growing seasonal and local things, with good quality animal products preferably regenerative farms for proper nutrition and taking care of the environment is actually the most mindful way. It also eliminates excessive plastic packaging and shipping as well. In the end veganism is just a ideology based on a few farm animals. Not really considering the whole picture. And people are willing to lie to promote it in whichever way. Good luck to you.

I don't understand why you feel the need to consume 100 grams of protein a day. Body builders may need that much and seniors need slightly more than people under 65, but in your case, most plant based doctors concur that 50 grams would be ideal. (Of course Dr McDougall would recommend less, but he's not anyone I would follow)

Excellent video Unnatural Vegan I don't buy protein powder either probably because of down to price I think it's expensive and you would be cheaper and get more nutrients from the whole plant foods ingredients in the powders. I eat a mixture of seeds daily so will get protein from them and other whole plant foods. I don't agree that it is hard without protein powder and mock meat because I don't eat either and manage ok so I think that's misleading especially to non vegans who are considering the vegan lifestyle.

These videos always blow my mind. My one meal for the day was this morning after chores: a ten ounce butter-braised steak, a strip of beef liver, six egg yolks, and a glass of raw kefir. I was filled, happy and not hungry all day, worked hard until 8pm. The volume of food that vegans have to eat to have the same nutrient benefit and satiety is just mind blowing.
