A court in the Russian city of Kazan has ruled to extend the pretrial detention of RFE/RL journalist Alsu Kurmasheva until June 5. Appearing in court on April 1, Kurmasheva, a U.S. and Russian dual citizen, described the poor prison conditions and said her health has deteriorated.

It is so sad and unnecessary. We are all family living on one planet that we all have to share. Greed and the delusion of self importance will never bring peace or prosperity to ourselves. It does not matter what country you are from, we are all family. I hope someone can release this good woman soon.

@@nd6442 I believe it is a primitive and unnecessary thing to imprison a journalist. Especially one who is a mother and that reports the truth. The principle is about free speech which all little dictators are afraid of. This would not be happening if the greedy little dictator would operate by the fact that we are all one family and that being friends with your neighbors is far better that waging war because of greed. Ukraine is Ukraine, Russia is Russia - get over it.

My thoughts and prayers go out to this poor woman and her family. Holding anybody in such conditions for months on end is utterly barbaric : her fate is in Mr. Pukin's hands, and his vile regime has history on fabricating charges to suit itself, thus effectively creating hostages. Social media only serves to underscore just how evil this world of crazed men can be. It can be understandably hard for sensitive souls to enjoy life, whilst knowing that the weak and vulnerable continue to suffer. 👽🔰✝
