Obscure lore facts! During the quest "Learning From the Dead", wherein you go to Black Rook Hold (outdoors) to find five books of tactics written by Lord Ravencrest during or shortly before the time of the War of the Ancients, one of the books you might find is titled "Voodoo, Geomancy, and the Magic of Peasants". This implies that at that time, the lower classes among the night elves were still practicing some of the old trollish ways!

So, can we get a lore story for the Quillboar? They got new models now, and i still don't know what is actually happening in the Razorfen Dungeons.
@jakeritter23176 жыл бұрын
Quillboar, Centaur, Troggs, and a few others I may have missed, are all in the evolution of Azeroth because of the old gods. They don't directly serve the old gods, but they are in the world because the old gods wanted these brutish warmongering races to fan the flames of conflict in the world. A lot of cause and effect that lead to bigger conflicts.
@Gerdat146 жыл бұрын
That... doesn't make sense. Like, these races indirectly serving the old gods NOW is okay, but Troggs and centaurs have prior states we can look at. The Centaur are mostly a less advanced state of the faction of Ramhamken, whereas the Trogg lore ties them pretty closely to the dwarves and Earthen. Plus, this doesn't explain why the Quilboar are worshiping a dead Wild God.
@jakeritter23176 жыл бұрын
Gerdat14 They are descendants of that dead wild god, who died in the war of ancients. They have no knowledge of the old gods, nor were they created by the old gods. The Quilboar, like the centaur (who are born from Zaetar, Son of Cenarius and that ugly princess in mara) and the troggs (created in the yogg-saron corrupted forge of wills by the titanforged keepers) are all there from a chain of dysfunctional events started by the old gods. The troggs were made as of a reaction to a war with yogg-saron. The Centuar come from a princess of an elemental lord who once served the old gods. Quilboar, from a dead wild-god from the war of ancients, which also was a war that was actually incited by the old gods. These brutish races are the result of chaos sewn that can be traced back to them. It's not a black and white story of "the old gods made them and bam! they're doing old god work" its a bit more colorful than that. They are the result of a spreading chaos and dysfunction in the world. Though I've been digging for the source, I can't find it :(, but I did read something saying that they are there to "fan the flames of conflict." Their "purpose" of whatever doesn't really go further then that. I'm sure void serving entities would kill them off all the same as they would the rest of mortal life on Azeroth.

Before their war with the aqir, the troll tribes claimed most of ancient Kalimdor. Many of the tribes constantly clashed with each other, but one tribe, the "dark trolls", lived in a network of deep caverns stretching beneath Mount Hyjal. They hated the daylight and only emerged from their caverns at night. In time, these nocturnal habits turned their blue skin into hues of gray. The dark trolls were unconcerned with the other tribes' skirmishes and cherished their independence from the rest of troll society, and mostly ignored the activity of the other tribes.

I think the Trolls are Azeroth's naturally evolved sapient species. All other races have some sort of divine or other-worldly origin but not the Trolls. Humans, Dwarves and Gnomes are descended from Titanic creations. Pandaren are descended from the bear ancient like the Furbolgs Draenei are from Argus Worgen and Forsaken were formerly Human Orcs are from Draenor Tauren are possibly descended from a bull ancient but it is also possible that the "Earth Mother" was Eonar or Freya The Elves are descended from the Trolls. *edit:* It is possible that Goblins also evolved from Trolls, evolved by the kaja'mite they mined Also the Trolls used to rule the entire world like humans do on Earth today with empires all over the globe so I think that they are naturally evolved is entirely possible.
@sunwalkeredaaga41546 жыл бұрын
Theriomancer maybe, but there isn’t a rule that Azeroth could only have one natural sapient race. The only bull ancient known is the Black Ox (one of the August Celestials) but he never claimed the Yaungol as his descendents and no known Tauren legend matches him. The Earthmother is most likely Azeroth herself actually: not Freya. The Tauren have no tales of her traveling or leaving them: she is with them wherever they are. When we met Freya, she says nothing special to a tauren player nor does she say anything about the Tauren. One would expect a mother to recognize her child. The Quilboar and kobolds are also sapient races as well, so that’s at least two others besides the trolls. The goblins make three.
@thenerdbeast73756 жыл бұрын
I forgot Goblins in my initial comment but Goblins probably evolved from Trolls, evolved by the Kaja'mite The Taunka in Northrend talk in a way that suggests that the Earth Mother is Titanic in nature (Titanic as in relating to the Titans, not huge). If Azeroth is indeed a "Titan Egg" as some theories suggest than that would still fit. I was only saying "descended from a bull ancient" because some old Warcraft RTS sources say that it is possible, though it is possible that this was retconned. Quillboar are DEFINITELY descended from the Boar Ancient Agamaggan. Kobold are theorized to have evolved from Troggs.
@sunwalkeredaaga41546 жыл бұрын
Theriomancer on what evidence do you believe that goblins descended from trolls? They’re nothing alike. They have no trace of tusks, while even the most heavily evolved elves have fangs. Their ears are a different shape, more similar to a fox’s than anything else. Their skin is a completely different color as well, and their proportions are all wrong too: trolls are log legged, while goblins have large torsos. We know nothing about goblin origins but the creatures they look the most like are the kobolds. Again, the theory that kobolds descend from troggs is completely baseless. The Warcraft RPG is non-canon. It has too many onconsistencies with the games.
