@malligrub3 жыл бұрын
High jumpers obviously have great spring but they tend to not have genuine vertical jumping ability like this. Lots of guys clearing well over 2m have verticals in the low 30's. The technique of the Fosbury takes the centre of gravity above the highest part of the body at the time of clearance, allowing much higher clearances than a standard jump without actually requiring epic vertical jumping ability.
@thedarksideoftheforce66583 жыл бұрын
That is amazing. I don't think people over 6' jumping high is impressive but 5'11 pulling these numbers is very impressive.

@Ryan Couchman Nah, measured off high speed video at 39, maybe 40 inches. The 48 is another Wilt myth. Legends of the past have all sorts of inflated stories because technology of the time allowed them to get away with it. Like Bo Jackson's "4.12" 40 yd time or Bob Hayes' "8.5s" relay leg that turned out to be a standard 9.0s using modern technology.

This dude can jump. Reminds me of a guy I saw when I was running track in high school (too many years ago to mention here, I’ll just say I’m an old fart now). The guy was competing in the “high jump”. The bar was set at 5’-7”. The guy “walked” up to the bar, raised his hand and gently touched the bar, he then took 1 step back and literally leaped over that bar…no running start. Everyone watching the event was like, “wait, what??” One of the most unbelievable things I had ever seen…until now. This is pure “raw” talent. You don’t coach this. 👏👏👏
