Noisey Blackpool: The Controversial Rise of Blackpool Grime, hosted by Poet and starring Afghan Dan, Soph Aspin and Little T.
The last few years have seen a huge resurgence in UK grime and there are now a whole bunch of talented MCs around the UK with growing fanbases.
However, when a KZbin channel called Blackpool Grime Media, started getting a lot of attention earlier this year, it took a lot of people by surprise.
Not only were most of the MCs on there extremely young, but they all seems to be insulting each other using some very offensive language. Plus the amount the views they were getting was insane.
Noisey sent a team up to follow the three key players in the scene - Little T, Soph Aspin and Afghan Dan.Why was this happening? Why Blackpool? Was the beef real and did these kids have what it takes to forge a genuine career?

I like the way Afghan Dan speaks with the 12 year old boy. He takes account of his young age and the fact the he (Afghan Dan is an adult) when soeaking with him. He also doesnt subtly berate him for using a racial slur and he doesnt patronise him for ir either (unlike Poet). I think Afghan Dan should get into youth work. Hes sensitive, self aware, empathic and clever enough to do some really good things in that field.

Ive got a criminal record and have been a youth worker as well as a mentor for troubled kids with bad backgrounds. There are many different types of jobs that involve working with kids that hold no prejudice towards ex offenders. This sort of experience is actually more beneficial for the less fortunate kids because ex offenders are often more relatable. This makes them great role models for kids as they go to prove you can change your life around. Give it a google before being so sure of yourself pal 😜
