Fyi I spent 10 years as an australian in London (except I didnt know many other Australians) and then moved to a smaller UK city. The quality of life improvement is wild. If you stay in the UK for a while, I definitely recommend eventually leaving London once you have the career/connections etc.

Buy a ski jacket. They are warmer, lightweight and are waterproof. Get one with pockets inside so pickpockets can’t them your phone easily. Also invest in a smart watch to use any maps app and also some earphones with the noise cancelling off. Keep your ears out for thieves on bikes and also just danger and commotion you need to run away from.

I am from Java, Indonesia. Love the cold London's weather which is milder than nippy countryside weather. I was born in the mountain range in Indonesia. Cold snap, hale stone rain, lightly frozen small water way and torrential 4 days heavy rain and constant instant darkness made me loving British weather. I missed bom sounding barrage of lightning sounds but London is picking up those loud lightnings lately😂❤

London is full of comedians from other nations so it must give inspiration because it is economically unaffordable .Weather is a mental construct so I never noticed fog.snow or ice when working in London. It takes only 30 years before you cease to notice the terrible climate.

As a Canadian, i could wear shorts, t-shirt and, if needed, a windbreaker year round. Then, when it snows 1 cm and the city is paralyzed, i could reminisce about getting 20cm of snow in less than 4 hours and it having zero effect on city services

Yeah, I hear Melbourne rentals can be pretty rife with mould problems. There's definitely mould in Australia. I think it's just a bit easier to air things out because of the warmer weather though.

@@RNS_AureliusActually mould prefers warm weather and is mostly a problem in tropical countries. Brits brought this upon themselves by poor engineering- namely lack of gravity ventilation in buildings -this traps the moisture in. Also houses are not insulated so when its cold people close windows.

That coat is great until you step down into the Tube and it's 35 degrees down there 🥵 then you have to either endure it, or take the massive coat off and struggle to hold it while standing up, trying to reach a pole to hold on around dozens of people, avoiding armpits, while protecting your bag and trying not to fall over...😮

As a Londoner, we are also shit at directions and get lost all the time (never as a Londoner for directions in London, always as a tourist). Google maps is a God send as i can just enter the location i want to go to, hit go, put my headphones in and start walking whilst listening to music and my phone in my pocket. Google maps will then interrupt when you need to cross the road etc. No risk of phone theft and you get to take in the views 👍
