In this episode i complete this I drive retrofit into my BME E92, I show you how i done it and the parts needed.
Instructions Below:
TO RETRO-FIT BMW I DRIVE YOU NEED:
NEW IDIRVE DASH
I DRIVE UNIT, SCREEN & CONTROLLER
CABLE FROM IDIRVE SCREEN TO I DRIVE UNIT
WIRE WITH PLUG ENDS FOR THE SCREEN & CONTROLLER
CODING TO ADD IDIRVE TO THE VEHICLE VO
GLOVEBOX USB PORT TO UPDATE MAPS
NEW IDIRVE FACIA
TOOLS NEEDED:
PHIPL SCREWDRIVER
TORX T20 & T25 SCREWDRIVER
RATCHET SET WITH NUMBER 10 & 8 SOCKETS
Method:
Remove old dash (see video for how to)
With he dash out, you can tap into the can wires for both the screen and controller (green to green & orange to orange) then locate a ground/earth and 12v supply for the screen then repeat for the controller.
RE-Assemble and plug in the screen to the i-dirve unit. once assembled complete coding by adding $609 to the VO (vehicle order) using NCS EXPERT or equivalent. (if in doubt google how to edit e9x VO in ccs expert)

Check the boot lid from the inside , should see a little plastic handle stuck down on the grey carpet attached to like a metal wire , tug on that and it should pop open ..

Yoooooo! Doing big things homie! Small world you're from the endz. E5 to E9. I also have a e92 lci but m sports plus. I just need to fix the audio. I had a trespasser in my whip few weeks back. An they managed to take out. The air ducts from front of car/lower grill area. Plus audio sound not as punchy before. They've open up a panel from my firewall glove box area with a wire a sticking out. So sound less punchy. But keep doing you! Levels! I hope I have more time to get into these particulars.

Its easy, constant power you can locate with a tester and just switch the ignition one or off.

Nice video! But where did the dvd drive connect to? Did it go into the orginal wiring for the radio? I wanna install the idrive in my 06 E87 but not sure if its worth the job and money. Just trying to find out how much work it is for now regarding the wiring and stuff. Im not afraid of repinning stuff, done alot of retrofits and really enjoy it. But not sure if its worth putting all this work into the car.. 😛 Even to i love doing stuff like this.

Awesome video man! Quick question though. I'm essentially doing the reverse of this conversation and deleting the Idrive on my 2012 E82 135i track car project, and all the wiring/routing is identical to the car in this video. For vehicles like mine that were equipped with the CIC Idrive from the factory though, is the harness/connector for the Idrive controller actually spliced into the main harness like how you installed it in the video? Or does the controller have its own independent harness going to the navigation screen that is simply bundled and taped together with the main harness? I've been under the impression I wouldn't have to modify any of the remaining wires, but if the controller harness is spliced in then removing it could prove to be a massive headache

I have a question brother, since you've been working with BMW's for so long I thought it'd be best to ask you for help instead of going to a dealer or mechanic that'll get back with a simple "Bring it in we'll fix it for you" response ... My iDrive hasn't been working for a while (around a year) and I've tried the hard reset with pressing and holding the 3 buttons on the DVD unit but to no avail. Different sources/videos recommend replacing your CCC unit and others say it could just be your iDrive screen. What do you recommend? The screen flashes white upon startup, goes black and flashes white maybe every 20 - 30 seconds. Used to work just fine, everything functioned but it just stopped out of the blue (used to fully work every day or so with the occasional flash but now it just flashes). Really miss using my aux input, I'm getting sick of using a bluetooth speaker lol. If there's anything I could try without diving straight into the main components that would be awesome i.e fuses, adaptors or even if it's possible to just hardwire an external amp and headunit to the car speaker themselves instead of having to use the iDrive that would highly be appreciated ... or something like that 😅 BMW 325i E90 2005 TIA Bruce

Unfortunately its common for those old CCC units to fail. And by the sounds of it it seems like it has. You can replace the CCC fairly cheap by getting on on eBay or u can upgrade to the CIC and have nav, bluetooth streaming etc

Its the better install actually with ccc the wires are there already, but you need to re-pin the screen, and combx connectors.
