I always keep manicure kit items ($ store or in bulk on amazon so I give it to them if they use it like nail files, buffer, cuticle oil) and clear and blush pink polish along with individual nail polish remover packets. There have been so many times when someone from the bridal party has ended up needing something! Enjoy being a guest and not working!!! I can’t remember what that’s like lol! ❤️

Extension cord, light bulb with almost pure white light, nailpolish (clear, beige and red) and a nailpolish remover, towels and a small kind of camping chair, so I can work at the same height as my client sitting, hair clips to keep hair out of the face and also eversthing needed to put together a touch up kit :)

I carry an Extension cord, small scissors, emergency tampon, ibuprofen, electrolytes powder, nail clipper/file and a mini deodorant. You had some great ones that I’ve never thought of!

I also find wooden spatulas for decanting products on set and shot glasses for things like blood, latex etc if you need to create something quick and on the spot x

I like to carry nail polish remover pads, the oil based ones so it doesn’t dry out as quickly and it doubles as cuticle oil. I prefer them to individual nail polish remover pads as the regular remover can dry out the cuticles and nails and it’s really cheap and effective.

All those little expenses add up and although I do know the little details matter and make you stand out to clients, man that stuff must get expensive. Somebody forgets to return your umbrella, the word gets out that you have item "X" and suddenly you have 6 people asking you for one. Do you tell everyone else no except for the customer/talent if they ask you for items? I would think you would run out if you didn't. I wanted to be a makeup artist so bad but life had other plans and now I am disabled and cannot do it so I live vicariously through your wonderful videos.

I have been enjoying your videos! In my kit I also carry a few items you didn’t mention. Nail polish in clear, you can always apply lipstick or powder blush and or eyeshadow mixed with rcma clear and then top it with a top coat; also nail files. I also carry individually wrapped deodorant wipes/pads. I’m always trying to think outside the box.

If you have a client who will be wearing glasses to an event or for photos all you need to do is make them aware the makeup may have to be a bit more dramatic than they are used to for the look to pop from behind the frames - if they are comfortable with that you can go ahead, and if not proceed as normal!

Do you have any recommendations on how to set your phone camera settings to make your photos look semi professional? I don't plan to buy a fancy camera but I would like to take nice pictures of my work to add to my portfolio.

I don't adjust any settings on my phone when taking pictures to be honest, I just put my clients/models in front of a natural light source and snap my pics! I usually don't have time to over think it, and I don't want to be the person holding everything up trying to take a picture with my phone.

I don't - I pack things as I need them or leave them in my car. I'm in the process of overhauling my kit, once that is done I will definitely post a video. What I carry in my kit varies between jobs.

No I don’t, only when I am shooting outdoors and even then it has to be applied every two hours and usually talent is sheltered in between scenes. If a client/talent requests it I use any good quality fluid sunscreen - usually La Roche Posay.

Angie Di Battista thanks, was more thinking of bridal with out door weddings. In Australia you can easily burn quickly if your in the sun in the afternoon. I already use the la Roche tinted moisturiser as a primer when I can, it can just make the skin a little greasy and if it sweats into your eye......

Karen after 50 check out Mecca’s sunscreen/primer called save a face! It’s super lightweight and not greasy and acts as a primer as well :)

Why use the hand soap towelettes when you have hand sanitizer?

Hand sanitizing is fine when there is no other choice but hand washing with soap and water and using hand sanitizer are not equal. Washing your hands is the most important thing you can do for hygiene. If I don’t have access to a sink (on location/shooting outside) I will use the hand soap towelettes and a water bottle to make sure my hands are washed.

Some of these items seem unnecessary, you’re an MUA not a drugstore. I’m sure it’d be appreciated that SOMEONE has certain things, but a few of the items, again, I think theyre unnecessary and if you’re starting out, can be overwhelming, especially if you do not have a car/ travel thru the cities by public transport. Carry what you need. The rest are just perks.

I would like to add almost all of these items have been necessary for me to be able to do my job on set and to ensure my comfort and well being, as well as the comfort and well being of my clients/actors/models. Reality is that you don’t know what you need until you need it and there are some things listed that your producers and directors will expect you to have on set. Starting out in this industry is overwhelming but being aware that we need to bring more than a few makeup products to set is part of the job. The great thing about this job is you can bring whatever you like to set and if you feel this is too much you definitely don’t have to drag it around but for anyone reading who is starting out I wouldn’t discount the value of being prepared for work.
