Norm was very clearly a person who only commented on things that he had thought about enough to be able to call those thoughts his own. He did not fit into any packages of ideas. You could not predict his views on five random subjects, the way you could with most other people.

He probably just had better things to do with his time, like sleep. Carson wasn't really for us so much as the parents who watched it religiously at 10pm in bed before going to sleep. It was pretty much our first exposure to America's Hollywood here in Canada other than movies we saw in the theatre. We watched more of the after school specials & TV show's like Bewitched & I Dream of Jeannie, Partridge Family, Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island, Star Trek. Back then it was a more wholesome time & place as opposed to the deviant cesspool it has become today.

It's terrible to hear Norm so defensive, all he ever wanted was to bring people joy and to hear him so defeated is such a national tragedy. He did not deserve this in the last years of his life, but Norm was a man of character and didn't use his cancer as a get out of jail free card... talking about what people deserve is utter nonsense, no one deserves anything in this cruel life of ours.

Thank you. I agree. Leukemia treatment drugs are many rounds of Chemo that can be very hard on a person, the side effects can be terrible. They can wipe a person out and age them early. RIP lovely Norm.

He says he wanted to make a show that had no age, and I think that’s because he wanted something to outlive him. So you can only imagine how much it hurt him to have this last shot at a show get taken away for unfair reasons. He always admired the late night shows and wanted to do his own version of it.

If you look at Norm in the late 90's..they still looked young. Then you flash forward a decade, Norm now has aged 20 years (but still lively). Now another decade later, Norms seems 80, and stiff as a corpse. It's just mind boggling.
