If anyone look up the strongest people in the world at those strongman contest, you can see that they aren’t shaped like that. If we were to ask ancient Nordic to physically describe how they think Thor and the Gods would look like, it wouldn’t be unusual for them to depict them as big and chunk as it was well regarded even for most of history that weight relate to wealth and status.

Some legends even show the gods dying, including Thor himself during Ragnarok. They are still visibly biologically similar to us when represented as humanoid, so it makes sense to depict the strongest of the Aesir as similar to the strongest humans.

Well, according to one myth Thor is why there is a tide. Utgard-Loki (a Jotunn lord) used magic to connect a drinking horn to the sea and make it taste like beer.
