No I'm suprised too, especially since the dialogue in Nolan's films can be weak. I think there's been some WW2 fatigue in the past few years, maybe that's part of it? It was a lot better than Tenet imo.

I love Nolan and I love WW2 films, but I just wasn’t that into Dunkirk, it wasn’t bad but it just wasn’t great. Nolan’s bad films aren’t bad, he just has too many masterpieces to compare to

"Nobody travels through time [in Dunkirrk]" - I disagree. WE travel through time in Dunkirk and see events in non-chronological order, which makes it interesting when you start to piece things together. It's hard to connect to it emotionally unlike other Nolan films though, which holds this movie back for me.
