41:18 I think the main reasons the computer doesn't like b3 is because, for one, it puts literally all of your pawns on light squares. Leaving them to maybe become targets for that light squared bishop. And the second reason is that it's the endgame. Your King's a fighting piece. It wants to be active too. So, it didn't activate your king and it created potential weaknesses.

A move called "En Passante", when your pawn does the 2 block move and lands next to the enemy pawn like Egg's did, then the enemy pawn can do a diagonal take on an empty square behind the pawn. I'm bad at explaining it, it's a weird move but it does exist.
@micalishis4 жыл бұрын
@@Arsenov92 Why is that a thing? That seems like something a big brother would make up to beat his little brother. "According to this very specific situation, I can bend the rules to still kill you".
@Arsenov924 жыл бұрын
@@micalishis because when the rules about pawns being able to do a two-square first move was added, motivation for en passant was to prevent the two-square first move for pawns from allowing a pawn to evade capture by an enemy pawn.

Ryan, I think your Elo would improve by studying a bit of endgame technique. You don't seem to have a firm intuition regarding maintaining the opposition, for example (a concept relevant to the point swing in the final position of the second game)… it's not a tricky technique to learn, but you'll lose a lot of endgames so long as your opponent knows a space/tempo controlling method you do not; particularly when material is low. Similarly, you'll end up winning a lot of closely contested matches in situations where you're aware of this technique and your opponent isn't.
