Today we meet the fittest American XL Bullies in the World. They adore their training and are happy and content. Our trainers today will argue that a well trained American Bully is less dangerous than a pet one that is left unexercised and socialised. These bullies not only are well behaved but they will stop 'biting' on command. Something that perhaps all dog owners should teach their dogs. We also will explain why most dog attacks come from special circumstances where the dogs have not been taught or trained how to behave, from 'bad genetics' produced by back-yard breeders and careless owners who leave their dogs alone, untrained and unsocialised with small children. The American Bully may look tough but he's actually one of the sweetest breeds there is. Will you look past his looks and agree with me?

As someone who has been a supporter of the great American pit bull terrier for quite a while, and someone who has been training dogs for over 40 years,whenever a s after bred bully, because that’s exactly what they are, attacks someone, my breed, the REAL pit bull gets blamed. There’s nothing pit bull about these mutts, they aren’t the same breed. The horrific bully attack in Memphis 2 weeks ago were from American bullies that weighed over 100 pounds each. The lady involved is one of my daughters closest friends. She’s held the 2 children that died and met these dogs on several occasions. Despite responsible owners, these dogs weren’t stable and had a history of warning signs. I know how these dogs were bred. Scatter bred with known “protection type” dogs what do you think was going to happen? It did and it was unprovoked and was one of the most horrific dog attacks in American history. As the mom tried to protect her 5 year old child, and as the other dog nearly ripped the head off the baby, the dog dragged the mom more than 100 feet thru the woods, causing serious injuries to the mom, them managed to get the child away from the mom and break the child’s neck with one bite. Any moron that takes these scatter bred bullies and tries to enforce its “protection dog” capabilities needs to go to prison. Just as bad is the media that’s putting blame on the American pit bull terrier, which IS NOTa protection dog. These scatter bred bully nuts were in fact created by thug culture with thug behavior in mind. These thugs suffer from “little dick” syndrome and wanted a big scary dog to do their talking for them. I’m not saying there aren’t good owners (my daughters friends certainly were) but were seeing the results of bad breeding practices and it has occurred at a time were we really didn’t need another dog breeds. Now they are talking about banning “pit bulls” in my county (I live near Memphis where the attack occurred) even though pit bulls had nothing to do with the attack. The bully breed has only been existence a few years and this is not enough time to establish temperament standards and it’s always changing, by constantly breeding indifferent dogs. What could possibly go wrong? What happened in Memphis. Anyone that says different can go F themselves. The AmericanDog Breeders Association exist to day to let- this from happening with my breed, and thugs want to highjack my breeds name because, who is going to spend $5,000 on a dangerous scatter bred mutt?

For decades we have had many bully breed rescues and strays. Pitties, Rotties, Dobies, cane corso….we took them in at all ages because they needed a home. We are far from dog trainers. All we have done is shower them with love and affection, exercise them, feed them well…and in return they showered us, our 4 daughters, 10 grandkids….showered us with unconditional love. We have had so many it is hard to believe that we have just gotten lucky. This leads us to believe that there are lots of bad owners and very few bad dogs.

We had a case, here in Germany where a mother & son lived in a tiny apartment & owned a pitbull which they never walked. He had to go do his business on the small balcony. He had no stimulation nor exercise. One day he flipped out & bit them both to death. What exactly led to this tragic end is not known but the way he waa kept might has been enough. The dog was put down. Some people really don't know what they are doing. Even a mutt like mine needs a lot of exercise & play. Every dog does & breeds that are working dogs, even more.

I've liked this because you've made such an essential point. Why do people keep dogs if they've no intention of caring for them?! This situation,of a pit bull, not exercised, and only allowed to relieve itself on a small balcony was a disaster waiting to happen, regardless of the breed. If only there were tougher laws and enforcement.

My son gave me his 130lb pit bull/mastiff b/c he had too many dogs. I had established a close friendship with Bobo so I had no problem taking him in to live with us. He was a good dog in our house but I very quickly found out he hated all other dogs regardless of breed or size and would attack if he could get loose from my leash. I could not take him even to a leash park, much less an off-leash park. I had to find a place where no other dogs were around so he could run and play with the toys I threw for him to catch. My main point is this; terrier breeds can be dangerous if not trained properly and dangerous even if they are trained well. Another very important point is; DO NOT TAKE YOUR PIT BULL TO AN OFF LEASH PARK. Or your American Bully dog. Or your American Bulldog. If you know of a pack of two or more pit bull dogs or bully dogs or American Bulldogs in your neighborhood, keep your pets indoors or under close supervision if you let them out to play, even in broad daylight. Terriers are excellent high jumpers and diggers so those two issues should be addressed BEFORE new dogs are brought into the family.

Socializing them from puppy's can negate most of the dog aggression. Having said that, dogs will be dogs and the onus should always be on the owner to avoid conflict situations. The only issues I ever had with my last Pit Bull were caused by other dogs who thought they were Lord of the Universe and came charging in. Even then, no fighting or blood, just a quick flick onto the back and a short doggy conversation about manners. The dogs were always fine, the owners a bloody nightmare! As said in the video, these dogs need a lot of training, exercise and socialization. They're not for everyone.

I don't understand why they've done this. because first they bred the bully to be a marshmallow and have no drive, now they're breeding a sporting bully which is basically the same as the pitbull drive wise, just more muscular. I think the Bull and terrier breeds are the best breeds you can get. I have an American Staffordshire Terrier❤️ so I'm not saying there's anything wrong with them, but they're bringing a Pitbull like dog back into the UK and the people are not ready for it, it will just end up happening all again. Because there are going to be backyard breeders that will cross the non-sporting and the Sporting, sell them out too people who aren't ready to take on that much drive. This was a good video Anika and I appreciate that you're trying to stick up for this breed and educate people.

There is no knowing what someone is going to do with it once a dog is sold. The important thing to realise is dogs are instinctual animals, any dog can be triggered into an aggresive mode and the question is how do you stop it once that has happened. With dogs like this the average person cannot stop it if it attacks, so that means the dog IS a danger in public because it could attack another dog and when the owner tries to protect their animal they and their dog could well be torn to pieces by such a big, powerful dog. Personally I'd like a special licence and very special conditions required to own such a dog with huge fines or jail for anyone who ignores the law

All dogs, big or small can have a bad day…accidents happen. The problem is most small and medium sized dogs do not have the same strength and bite force as larger breeds, especially all pit breeds. Obviously attacks and accidents will be worse with bigger dogs. All larger possibly aggressive breeds should be treated like having a gun, responsible and well trained. Training should not include some of the things these guys were doing. No problem with working these dogs with the running, swimming, climbing, and agility but why are they teaching these dogs to attack, bite, and strengthen their bite? This is irresponsible for these breeds unless they are being trained for military or police work. Any breed trained to be aggressive should not be a companion or family dog. They are keeping this aggression and prey drive alive in the breed. Many of these dogs trained like this are sold as “security”. Most people do not need this type of security in their home unless they are involved in something possibly criminal or Saudi Prince type folks. And I do believe most people choose this breed because of the status a “dangerous” dog carries. People choose breeds as an accessory or extension of who they are, not choosing based on what the breed is actually bred and trained for. I understand these dogs are trained to release on command but there will be a time in a dogs life where the owner is not with the dog. I think everyone will be a little safer around a dog that wasn’t trained to bite a human to work out anxiety. With all that said my pit Aussie mix girls are the sweetest dogs, love kids, and other dogs. Training never included any aggression training or tug of war or jaw strengthening exercises. As sweet as they are I still would not leave them alone with children or small animals. At the end of the day these guys take great care of these dogs and excellent at training them, I just don’t think the aggressive training is necessary in most cases and it gives irresponsible owners bad ideas on how to train. Hopefully my point makes sense.
@flowerbloom325
@flowerbloom325 Жыл бұрын
@@joeb5212 Thing is, most other breeds just bite. They do not maul like Pit Bulls, XL Bullies, American Staffordshire Terriers and every other breed included in the Pit Bull group. There are hundreds of documented fatal maulings done by these dogs. The vast majority were raised like a normal dog, with no bite training. A common phrase you will hear is "He's never shown aggression before", " We've had him since he was a puppy". These dogs kill their owners, family members, strangers, and most often other pets ( dog aggression is a breed trait, it's genetic ). The parents of the children in Memphis had continually posted a bunch of "don't bully my breed" propoganda prior to the attack. For years, they believed they raised them right. These dogs were around 6 years old, and they snapped. They killed half of a family, almost killed the mother too. Not all pit bulls attack, but people often get no warning before they do. Fighting dogs have no place in a home, their only place is in a (illegal) fighting pit if anything.

Unfortunately some of these so called working Xl bullies could actually be classed as pitbull type here in the uk purely from proportion,structure and measurements which is strange considering the breed was created to get away from the stigma of the American pit bull terrier. Most of these are more terrier and less bulldog with super high prey drive and in the wrong hands can cause fatalities just like the Pitbull did back in its day.

Amazing watch. Thankyou for the feature. As you can all see the out command we all have in our bullies is stro mg. A foundation of any type of protection work is OBEDIENCE. It’s not making the dog aggressive rather using built up energy in a positive way for the dog. The problem is back yard breeders breeding from ill temperament bullies for money. Breeders not vetting thoroughly any new potential owners of a puppy to see if they have the experience, time and knowledge to own a large breed. No foundations by new owners in obidience and no training is also to blame. Another factor that comes into it is people wanting to sell adult dogs on. It can cause the dog stress and anxiety. They are emotional beings as we are. They have one defence or attack and that’s their mouth. I sympathise with everyone that’s got bit by this breed of dog or any dog. It’s truly down to the owner 90 percent of the time. Please stop demonising this lovi n breed. I can show you my dogs meeting random kids on a school run showing nothing but love full of slobbery bully kisses. I can show you them meeting random people, walking in city centre calmly. But when they were both 2 years old my pit bull attacked my german shepherd one day and this happened 3 times before I had to separate them forever. But everytime I had to save my pit bull from my german shepherd. German shepherds have a stronger bite they don't just bite and lock jaws and not let go. My pit bull was on the bottom with my shepherd tearing him up. The only thing is when I finally got them separated with water hose and pulling etc the pit bull didn't want to ever quit even though my german shepherd would have killed him if I had not been here.

I've just got my first ever XL Bully "she's just over 3 months old now" and I demanded that her ears were to be left alone. I know there clipped for health reasons "infections" "fashion" but if you stay on top of their grooming and clean the ears daily it's perfectly fine to leave the ears alone. It also stops her from looking evil. I've had Staffs my whole life but I didn't know too much about the XL Bully. So I spent weeks researching everything that I could find on this breed before making the decision to get one. I'm 45 and retired so I've got all the time and energy in the world for her needs and wants. She's already 52lbs at 13 weeks old!!! She's gonna be a big girl 😱 And OMG she picks up new commands almost first time and remembers them. She's super intelligent especially for her age. I've not once smacked her "even a tap" as there's much easier and safer ways to teach your dog. It's repetitive but I run through all of my calls about 50 times a day with her. I'm lucky as I'm able to keep her mentally busy all the time and I've got a 6 year old son who does the routine with her too. She listens to my son just as well as she does to me. The calls we do are mixed up in order so she definitely understands what command is required.

@@happypug4663 Thank you for the tip Happy pug. That's one thing I'm very strict on. I'm with her 100% of the time as I'm retired and I have all the time in the world for her and she's never away from my side "her choice" I encourage her to go to other places but nope,,, she's my shadow. I personally love it. I'm only 45 luckily and still young enough to control her as their energetic and can be a handful occasionally 😂. But while my son gets her to run through the routines,,,, I'm right there with them watching very closely "just in case". I do the same thing with the wife while she's running the pup through her routine too. My 17 year old bonds with her as he loves walking her a couple of times a day. I trained her on a leash and she's perfect walking and listens to his commands and is great with other dogs and people "including kids" she naturally is a lot calmer when a kid strokes her as she'll just sit down and let them pet her. With Adults she's a bit more excited but still very self controlling. She's been pretty much perfect except for one thing,,,, She refuses to go out in the rain 😂

XL bullies all contain between 10 to 15% mastiff blood which varies from English mastiff, mastino, presa, corso and Bordeaux. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!! You said 100% what needs to be said to so many people!!! I have a Micro American Bully. She is the sweetest and most loving dog I have ever had! I have had pit bulls, I have had a XL American Bully as well. I have never ever, had an issue with aggression EVER!! I hate that the bully and pit bull breeds have a bad name! I also hate hearing on the news about dog attacks on children from these breeds. People blaming dogs, and like you said in this video has anyone ever stepped back and looked to see how this dog has been treated has it been trained right? Has it been locked in a room? Does it ever get exercise? Has it ever gotten attention, but you automatically just want to blame the dog. It makes me sick. These dogs are very energetic. They do need exercise, stimulation, attention, love and affection. Most people don’t realize what it takes to have a dog. It’s honestly just like caring for a child. I can’t stand it when people get a dog and just put it in the house and feed it and water it and that’s it, or put it in a backyard or especially chain it up, or tie it up. And to me, that’s the worst thing you can do is to contain a dog to one pacific area. I swear it burns me alive when people do that if you yourself don’t want to be contained or tied up, you shouldn’t do that to your dog and I’ve had a lot of people get mad at me, when they see a dog attack on the news and they say something about it and I’m automatically defending the dog because I know something has happened with that dog to make it do that exactly like this video stays how has this dog been treated has it been exercise has it been worked with or was it a dog that was just thrown in the backyard and the only time it has ever seen a human is when they’re feeding it or watering it. But now you wanna be mad at it because it has attacked someone. More people need to get educated before they get a dog they need to get educated on that pacific breed what its needs are, and if they can commit to those needs with the life style that they living. People please educate yourself and stand back and look at the picture as a whole before you judge.

I have an arctic mix but I volunteer with rescues - mostly with american bullies of all sorts. They're gems! Hyper and under-socialized bc of their owners. But the most loyal, affectionate, and eager to please velcro dogs imaginable. They really are athletes in the field and possessive babies in the home. As an owner of a former "antisocial" biting but "cute and fluffy" rescue who needed a lot of work -- any breed IS (not can be) dangerous without basic research, training, work on individual needs.

One of the foundation breeders said it himself. Only a few American Bully bloodlines have actually APBT in them, and it's not a lot. XL American Bullys were made from predominantly mastiff breeds.

Peasants breeding and training illegally cropped pit bulls to bite people. What could go wrong? The people in this video are the exact kind of misfits who should not own such dogs!! The mentality of “look at me, I’m ‘ard” is precisely not what the breed needs. @Stephen Carr “There’s zero chance these dogs will bite someone” 🤔 A more responsible method of exercising any breed of dog is to knacker it out via any means that does not entail biting a suit etc. Running, swimming, agility course, playing with other dogs are just a few examples of activities that allow a dog to blow off steam. Teaching a dog to bite people switches this activity on in the dog’s brain. Yes, having a dog under control is important, but a dog that has been trained to bite adult humans is more likely to exhibit this behaviour vs a dog that has never been exposed to this conditioning.

Lazy and irresponsible owners are the biggest problem not only with this breed but other working breeds - this then fuels media hysteria and calls for breeds to be banned because no one acknowledges the personal responsibility for owning a dog. It depends on the person. A calm confident dominant owner is always better with such animals. Once it learns to trust you, you will earn it's trust. The relationship is everything. Daily training, positive encouragement & firm but non-threatening correction , rather than screaming, "NO, bad dog!" & jerking it's leash ALL the time or at ANY time for that matter.. Not everyone should have a large, potentially aggressive dog! One needs to provide a regular physical exercise program as an outlet to aggro-behaviour. Love you, Anneka! ❤️🐕‍🦺

Excellent video I have 3th generation American bully in Canada and from my experience bad owner bad dog. It should be like a course before you own one or a licensed to avoid bad ownership given this breed a bad name due to i responsable owners

When these dogs first became popular around 2003-2004, the breeders would swear that it was pure Amstaff with nothing mixed in. I would frequent the shows around that time and some of the dogs I saw were obvious English Bulldog mixes.

I have an apbt for over 10 years and love the bully breeds...but how come the police can seize a Dog based on measurements and with a Pitbull mix in it's line but American bullys get the green light . Also would a Canis panther be legal in England considering the breed mix.

When I first met my wife I had a very young American bully xl female. This was my second female XL bully. My wife and her family ( being from New York ) were terrified of her. They said in New York a lot of gang members and thug types have them and fight them. At the time I was living in Tennessee and to an extent that was true there as well. So this fear of the breed is understandable. When my wife finally met my Bella ( bully’s name) she instantly fell in love. After seeing the way Bella was with our children she fell in love with the breed. Her parents were very apprehensive about meeting Bella and children being around Bella. Now they love the Breed. In my humble opinion I feel the American Bully XL when properly trained and socialized is one of the absolute best family dogs one could own. We have three children and Bella has put herself in between the wall corners and children falling, the fireplace and children falling, helped them up and walk when they were learning to walk and has been all around an amazing companion. I truly feel like BRB and bad/ignorant people are to blame with the American Bully XL

Does it make sense that they created a companion dog from dogs with game history and fighting history. They do need exercise, good diet and training to give direction. Most dog owners want the name brand, but are sloth filled. With great power, comes great responsibility!
