Thanks for this video! I wasn't sure why the new views were trying to link a new database, but this really seems like pages can be much more condensed now. That will help me focus a lot better, less toggling top open and close things, more like internet browser tabs

I wonder if there’s going to be confusion that the shortcut is still “/cr” when the name of the menu item is no longer “Create Linked Database”? Feels kind of like having the phone receiver or floppy disk icons…no longer used, but still representative.

Not sure if it's video compression but at 3:16 there seems to be some mult-ilayer responsiveness on that image. The word scales but the the background seemed to have a layer that crops instead. What's going on here?

Are you working with your source database? You can only mix different databases if you start with a linked database view, you can't mix into an original/source database.

This was a helpful and clear summary. One thing I thought I had done, but now can't replicate is stopping someone I have shared a page with from changing the filters so that can't unhide content I don't want them to see. Is this possible?

You can't only share a filtered view of a database (at least not yet) - you either have to share all or nothing unfortunately!

Is it possible to merge all the databases from multiple templates/pages into one master database? This would be handy for controlling a massive project. I can't see to find instructions for that. Thank you for this video!

That would lose it's value pretty quickly after the first 5-10 views, as everything gets tucked into a dropdown. You can't merge views into one database, but you could certainly use synced blocks and put your linked database in a synced block which you could use in several places...

I have one task manager. Is it possible to make a copy of the database (filtered by a tag), which is a synchronized version of the master database? I want to make it accessible to colleagues but I don't want them to see all my tasks. Linked database is not an option since it's not showing content to guests.

I'm confused by your comment. Linked databases *are* synchronized views of your master database. If you want your colleagues to be able to see it, you have to grant them permission to the source database in order for them to see any linked views on other pages they have permission to view. You would want to filter those views to "owner = me" (use Notion's "me" property) - that way anyone looking at the page will only see their own tasks by default.

They collapse automatically into a dropdown menu when your names are long, or your page width is too short to display all the view names.

Release notes said nested pages are 50% faster. Not sure the exact specifics there, but seems they did do speed improvements

Does this change how you would use your master databases and copy of views from your previous video? kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2ionKKtrrqJgKs This makes it seem unnecessary since you can import any previous view. Or am I missing something?

This feature makes that last video somewhat irrelevant now, because its so much easier to pull in source databases into a linked view now, and you can pull from the original whereas you couldn't before.

@@MariePoulin The prompt for importing the views from original dBs is not very uniform at the moment. At times I am getting the option of selecting views to import from original dB to a New linked dB but if the linked dB is old then the option to import views just don't appear. is this a bug or expected behaviour? Also, will Notion allow us in future to select linked dBs as source so that we can import views from linked dBs too?
