I’m mad that this actress died. As soon as I heard it I immediately looked up this timelessly iconic and career-defining scene. It resonates with all of us. We will miss you Emma Chambers. Sleep well. Good night.
@chrisst89224 жыл бұрын
Apart from anything else, it means that this scene couldn't now be recreated in a reunion of some sort. This scene was important to writer Curtis because it was the product of his initial thought that spawned the film.

I get mad too. 53 years old is an early age. Hugh Grant has more reason to be nostalgic for those days. Poor Grant 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢I always feel sorry for the actors whose colleagues died or perished.

Just saw this film for the first time tonight. This scene was spectacularly charming and the ensemble work, at the dinner scene, by all involved, including Roberts, really was a fresh of breath air. Took 20 years to see it, but I’m so glad I did.

I loved these scenes. “Good lord you’re the spitting image of - (good lord aha moment) right!” “Hello Anna - Scott. (Momentary pause to recollect thoughts) Have some wine.” So they acknowledge her for who she is, but they don’t go super crazy about it and by the end of the night they’re teasing her like friends. Must have been refreshing for her.

Word of caution to anyone dying to meet a particular celebrity: they are not always as they seem. I have had the pleasure of meeting quite a few, sometimes through business, sometimes when they were doing planned appearances, a time or two just by chance. Almost all of them have a "meet and greet" mode- a few seconds where they say hello and shake hands, and maybe sign an autograph or take a selfie if they are not too busy. I don't collect autographs and rarely selfies, so that was never a factor for me. But anyway, after the initial grab and grin a lot of them want nothing more to do with a fan. I can understand this, if they took even one minute with each fan they would not have time to do anything else. Generally speaking I found actresses to be the most high strung, probably actors second, then most (not all) athletes were more patient- especially if they were retired and talking about the good old days. Friendliest of all were politicians- they want that vote. With one exception, and yes I will name him- Senator Alfonse D'Amato of New York (who was a total A-hole), about every politician I met was friendly. But try not to bother celebs when they are having dinner or something like that.
