But contrast to this in winter they defenitly can keep you warm as long as you don't litteraly walk in a meter of snow it will be good enough and yes indeed keep your feet un-wet. Listening to this review on my Beyerdynamic Lagoon ANC, an older pair of bluetooth headphones they make, seems weirdly fitting. But the big question: can those free byrds be repaired? I have the tools to repair shit even that small, and handing these over to a proper repair shop that do it for the customer would also work if they can order the parts. Drivers, plastic cases, new batteries would all be easy to repair if they glue them shut in a way that can be undone by heat, and have that glue applied already on the replacement parts. Just because you guys can't do it doesn't mean nobody can.

Doesn´t Beyer have learned from the Custom Street backlash? The reduced freq. range in the hights didn´t went well on the Custom Streets, why should Beyer customers have now changed their minds about reduced frequency range? 22K isn´t high enough, for really natural hights we need at least 30-32K (things like triangles, bells e.g go very high and even we don´t activly hear it, audiophiles notice if those hights are there or not, differents is listening to an audio file compared to feeling like standing right next to the real thing).

Maybe try having a fan next to you when doing the ANC test, my Sony's XM3 buds have this issue that even though they're silent everywhere, if you take them outside you will hear the wind brushing against them, which totally defies the point of ANC if I get extra noise, I could see that happening with this beyers due to how much they stick out. Also, some headphones have this issue where the ANC mic captures the wind and amplifies it instead of reducing it, so yeah, wind is important when testing ANC. I hope you take this into consideration! Apart from that great video as always!

Few, including LTT, ever mention the huge downside to foam [Comply] eartips: the TCO. You will regularly need to purchase new foam eartips and if they're Comply, the price is gonna add up quickly. Yes, there are objective sound and isolation benefits to foam/Comply tips. But you can wash/clean quality silicone ear tips. You throw out and replace Comply tips.
@MrGamelover23

What's tco?
@joesatchton212
@joesatchton212 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrGamelover23 TCO = Total cost of ownership. A simple example is inkjet printers. Sure, the inkjet printers on the market are cheap for what they can do. But...check the prices for those replacement ink cartridges. Consumables are where companies get you most in your wallet. Which is exactly why considerations of TCO are critical and essential. So I love LTT, but they never ever mention the TCO of quality foam tips like Comply, which quite frankly, are the only ones worth buying in the first place but are really expensive. So unless you want to use filthy, compressed, earwax filled Comply foam tips beyond a few weeks [depending on your IEM listening habits], you'd better be prepared to blow a good bit of cash on those tips over the lifetime of the IEMs themselves. Which is why I only use Sony Hybrid silicon tips on all my IEMs with the right sized nozzles.. 85%+ of the seal with the right sizes and 100% reusuable/washable/cleanable..

A detail that I think is NEVER mentioned in TWS and wireless products is that their almost ubiquitous "extra bass" is there for a reason. It's not just because that's what people like in EQ, but no matter what level of ANC or isolation you have, when you're out of the house, unless your commute to work is a nature walk through an empty field, there will be destructive interference at the low end from everything - buses, trains, ferries, car tires, the thump of your feet hitting the ground (the highs do this too, but not as intensely) so every indoor test of wireless products really should include an outdoor test as well, with the low rumble and drone of more than just airplane noises piped through a laptop. Because even bassier non-wireless cans like my meze 99's suddenly sound a lot less overbearing on the low end when I'm wearing them on the train or ferry, and they isolate pretty well. I'm still looking for a good TWS alternative to airpods, and the closest I've found so far is the 1more comfobuds. They're small, light, the case shape and size is flawless, and they have a setting for WIND NOISE SPECIFIC ANC, which is absolutely stellar as a cyclist, and apple/samsung can't do for crap. Sound is okay, kinda neutral, but for $80 they smash the overall package of the galaxy buds pro's and their broken ANC.

There's a difference between mid bass and sub bass. A sub bass boost is recommended in this case. But a mid bass boost can make everything muddy sounding.
@colinmartin9797
@colinmartin9797 2 жыл бұрын
@@GiulianoM14 no, that's not how it works at all mate. It's algebra physics of waves. Destructive interference can't just be circumvented by pushing the extra DB further down the EQ into sub bass. The mid bass frequencies is where the destructive interference is coming from. Boosting the sub bass would just make the mid bass feel even more recessed. You need to boost the mid bass to overcome some of the destructive interference of your surroundings. That's why these "lifestyle" cans and meze 99's do it. They're specifically designed for mid bass destructive interference. I agree than if you want punchier sound in a more ideal listening environment, sub bass is where to add it. But it doesn't work in the "outdoor" cases.

Typical modern Beyer to have a V-curve unfortunately. They used to be much more neutral. The old DT150 is still an amazing pair of cans (massive tip there). The DT770 pro isn't half bad either. But the open stuff they made in the 80's, 90's and beyond is just... BIt v-ish. Bit hyped. Definitely NOT bad, but well... With AKG and AudioTechnica being a thing as well at the same price range...

One test I’d like to see more of with ANC meeting earbuds much more commonly is how they perform in wind. My Soundcore anc earbuds are fine, but because anc uses the microphones to generate the noise offset pattern, wind hitting the mic on my Soundcore earbuds creates wind noise in my ears. I don’t recall having this problem with past anc earbuds. Maybe something worth including in your new labs testing.

My Soundcore Q30 has the same problem. Also, not a chance having a voice call outdoors with these. Mediocre headphones with good battery.
@bedast
@bedast 2 жыл бұрын
@@falsemcnuggethope The sad thing is, the Soundcore Life A2 NC sound really good for the price (currently around $70, I paid $80 over a year ago). I'm by no means an audiophile, but I'm still picky. I just can't use the ANC nor the pass through outdoors because even a mild breeze hitting those mics is distracting. With previous earbuds with audio pass through, I enjoyed that feature when walking the dogs so that I could be aware of my surroundings. I've been considering an upgrade, but I've been burned on expensive audio products so much that I refuse to spend a ton of money, and it seems Soundcore is one of the rare brands with decent audio for cheap (as opposed to, say, Raycon which sound like every other cheap garbage I've tried). I've been a fan of Beyerdynamic for quite a long time, having owned a set of DT770 Pro for about a decade (they're getting worn out, time to replace those as well, probably with the same model). So the earbuds are attractive to me, but that price... For now, my sub-100-dollar earbuds are getting me by.

This is little more than an unboxing and feature overview vid. The personal opinion on sound is just that. The impression of hearing more detail could just have been a volume difference (louder = perceived as better / more details can be heard). It's time to put that expensive crash dummy head to use.

I know I'm kinda nitpicking here, but LDAC isn't lossless. It is one of the highest quality bluetooth codecs available at the moment, but some data is still omitted from the stream.

LDAC is proprietary (at least the decoder). Since it already has aptX, adding another proprietary codec will drive the cost up.

I am very interested, but I have some questions. How much they weigh, but more importantly, where in your ear that weight sits. Is it well spread out, or well balanced across the ear? Do they remain comfortable if you wear them for the full 11 hours, how do they feel after 3 or 4 day's with them in for 11 hours a day? Does the way they sit cause strain inside the ear canal? How well do they stay in place if you lay on your side or back

The XM'4 Buds are like trippy good. Sound quality, Noise cancelling (WHICH I am New to SOO Awesome) call quality, quality quality lol. I got the black ones new on Prime day for $160 Ill prolly rock these for years... Sony does Noise cancelling/ boosting very well.

$249.00 for the beyerdynamic Free BYRD vs $249.00 AirPods Pro or $179.00 for AirPods (3rd generation) So, the cost scale is the same, but it definitely seems like the beyerdynamic has a slight edge to me.

@@nneeerrrd I am an Audio Engineer myself and I know what it is all about. If I have no chance to have a listen to these headphones on my own, I have to rely on other opinions. Data-Sheets are useless in these cases. So if there are many unanimous reviews on the Internet and one of them is by LTT, and if I have trust in the company Beyerdynamic, I feel confident enough to buy some. Because this is the closest I can get to understanding how they sound without listening to them.

@@Klackala They do a lot of Things very good. BUT the high end is very underwhelming to me, sounds like a ca. -8dB shelf at aroubd 12kHz to me. It is however adjustable with EQ in the App and on Android Stock EQ. I think it is pretty annoying that the announcer does occur everytime you switch Noise cancelling or transparency modes. I often could not hear, what people said to me because the announcer said "TRANSPARENCY MODE". I would love to be able to customize the tap combinations. This is all stuff that beyerdynamic can adjust via Software/Firmware update.

Oh look at that, Vessi still sucks because they don't offer half-sizes. I have been a 10.5 my entire adult life, in every brand of shoe I have ever worn. I know my size. So don't try to tell me a 10 or 11 will work for me. Just because my foot fits in the shoe, doesn't make it comfortable or healthy. Now as to the subject of the video. I use DT 770 Pro's on a daily basis and absolutely LOVE them. They are the best-sounding headphones on the market, hands down, at any price point. I'd be interested to see what those ear buds sound like and feel like. I have very sensitive ears. Foam ear plugs, even custom-made ones, give me a throbbing headache (no it's not an allergy) and the pressure from lightweight headphones on my ears causes my ears to absolutely throb after half an hour or so.

This feels like it's really trying to like these earbuds....Not a fan of the Airpods Pro, especially the fact that there is no easy way to re-assign controls without a kludgy hack , and the pretty restrictive in-ear fit (f that makes any sense). But - pretty clunky controls, LARGE size and sub-par microphone are pretty nonchalantly brushed off in this review. Or is that just me?

I would ask if you could walk around a mall, or an airport and listen to music/call and see if they have connectivity issues. I swear EVERY ear bud apart from over the head, and apple earbuds have problems popping and temporarily loosing connection.

I hardly care about battery life. Audio quality and ANC is mostly comparable these days. You know why I use Airpod Pros? The case is thin. All these alternatives have the same thick cases that stick WAY out of your pocket and look goofy as hell. No one seems to care about it. Do you guys all carry handbags?
