Quality work right there the real question is why so many paint shops dont color match correctly?? we see them everyday a car with substantially darker "blended" paint than the factory color

Great work man. How's the spectro reading when you scanned the faded area? It should give you a different color code and brand?

Yes. I open scanned it. It gave me about four decent options. Match ratings weren’t great but looking at the formula I went with one that would be simple to tint with minimum toners. Ended up matching great and not needing a tint.

@olie_olie_paintz yeah sometimes when i saw from the spray out , the flop of the colour is little lighter or darker, most of the time it blended out nice. But for silver metallics, sometimes i did get mottling on the blend area if some of the color flop is not that great.

Did your camera give u the blend color or did u tint it.

Camera gave me this one. I picked one that I could easily tint with the fewest toners but got lucky.

Are you using debeer solvent?

Sherwin ultra 9k water. Same as debeer 900.

So how do you change or lighten the color by adding white?
@olie_olie_paintz7 күн бұрын
No sir. Depends on the formula and toners used in the formula. If I’m aiming to lighten I usually leave out the strong colorant toners by half and see where it lands. Adding white only washes them out and most of the time doesn’t go the direction you want it to.

Is it really that faded or is the clear coat just faded? I've seen "pink" cars turn red again after a compound and polish.... I'm not sure the base coat is actually that bad
@olie_olie_paintz7 күн бұрын
It is actually that bad lol. This isn’t single stage. The base under the clear is cooked. Clear is clear lmao it won’t polish out 😂

There's a bunch of KZbin videos of new bumpers looking darker than old paint but when polishing the clear on the rest of the car it adds depth to the original paint then it looks almost perfect. Dull clear coat will make the base look lighter than polished clear because of the way it reflects lights. And I'm not talking about single stage paint.
