i was in Tesla service center in Laval, Quebec last week. Had to change the windscreen (hit by a rock from very bad Quebec roads). The service was INCREDIBLE! In app appointment. In app appraisal. In app confirmation. ONLY 2 hours to take care of the install. Then in app payment. The best service ever. And i know what i am talking about. I was a General Sales Manager for 10 years at a Toyota dealership.

So important to get the customer needs met. I have remained at a Volvo dealership for more that 20 years over many serial and concurrent vehicles. High standards of serivice and work have been a vital component of ownership. Perhaps as an owner I have more to care about than the lease/hire drivers, we all have our perspectives.

Elon should find the time to take care of his health. The companies are not in any immediate danger of going bankrupt and if he is going to live long enough to land on mars he needs to ensure his health is a bigger priority. His 100+ hour work weeks were amazing and essential for getting Tesla and SpaceX to where they are now but he needs to slow down and address his health at this point.

I made a day 2 service request on my 2021 M3LR. Windscreen washers weren’t dispensing. I phoned up, they diagnosed hoses that weren’t fitted, due to me confirming a puddle underneath the car. Turned out it wasn’t faulty, I had to “double push” the button at the end of the stalk. The manual didn’t make that clear. As for the puddle: just condensate from the evaporator. A classic “Problem exists between seat and steering wheel”. The point is, how many service requests are actually due to not reading the manual properly?

I want to see triangle solar panels. They could use these in places like those upright panels going up and down the stairs or in places where you don’t have the roof space for the full panel. It would make it easier to actually be able to use your full roof.

I'd be interested in seeing a breakdown on what TYPE of service was needed. I had a service call on my Model Y within the first 3 months but it was because I was stupid, not because there was anything wrong with the car. Luckily the tech explained what was making the noise (the tow eye in the frunk had popped loose and was rattling around in the frunk) and waved the service charge. I'm sure that counted as a service call but there wasn't actually a problem. I had just taken a speed bump too fast and popped the thing out of it's holder and had no idea what was making the awful noise whenever I turned. :)

I have both a model X 2017 and model 3 serial # 7,4@@ the model 3 zero breakdowns in 4+ years "with the exception of a 12 V battery replacement" no break down just replacement "Free", the fit and finish is reasonable, technology off the charts, I love over the air updates, many of the new features are very useful not to mention enhanced safety. The model X breakdowns wiring harness in the steering column left me stranded in a traffic light the only significant issue in almost 5 years. If I lost my car I would purchase Tesla again. I recently took a 12 Hour nonstop road trip in 109° temperatures supercharging was convenient and accessible range with somewhat diminished in part because of the temperature and 80+ MPH speeds the cost was $21 per 250 miles of driving using supercharging huge savings versus a gas.

I'm very interested in seeing how this holds up long term and I'm already comparing the different functionality and what I wish Tesla would put in their vehicles and how GM needs to improve their stuff. But no more gas will ever be purchased by our household and that makes me very happy. Solar is next!

Should have taken one day really, but I'm still waiting. Same thing happened when I needed to fix the driver side wheel control arm squeek last year (was warranty covered). Talking about tesla service, I have owned 2 2018 model 3's in which both I have never taken to get it serviced. My brother has owned a 2020 and a 2021 model 3 and they both have been in and out of service many times during the first year of ownership. This is true, their quality control needs to get better. The hassle of taking a car to a service center period is an inconvenience.

regarding the Tesla roof: Along with the limits on production, I heard that it is a distribution and certified installer problem. additionally, installer companies are backed up with standard solar panel installations and don't feel incentivized to switch their model. the distribution centers for areas like me (SW CO) are often across state lines (NM) and this causes all kinds of weird economic impacts. as for the installer certifications, there is an interesting piece regarding the nature of the installing company (electric company vs a roofing company). it seems silly but apparently it matters a lot regarding building codes.

The Horse vs Car chart at 8:05 shows peak horse happening just as cars exceeded 5% of peak horse. Then cars did not surpass peak horse until ~13 years later. However, ~2 years after peak horse total horse power exceeded peak horse. During this time there were no gas stations and gas was delivered by wagon to cars where they were. With EVs, fueling is everywhere now. DCFC is the only thing that is lagging.

Tesla doesn't have a Service problem they have a quality control problem. Most of the issues that the service centers are fixing are from the factory not from the cars getting older. They need to look at factory QC not at the service centers. Could Tesla improve the Service centers of course, but that's not going to fix the main issue.

Questions for Arcimoto 1) can we get a full door option (Kansas gets really cold and half doors just won't cut it) 2) is it legally considered a car or a motorcycle in Kansas and Missouri? (I don't have a motorcycle license) 3) will there be greater range options? (The current range won't get me through an entire work day working for DoorDash) 4) how long will it take to charge with a 110v outlet? (If I get stuck out of town with a dead battery I might want to know about how long I will be stuck there)

I can help you a little. You could also drop Aricmoto an email. They are working on making full doors and AC/heat too. I don't know when this will be ready for market. I know they are also working on the batteries. I don't know if this will up the mileage. As far as I know, right now, they aren't offering a larger battery pack as an option. 110V will take longer. I think for a full charge... around 8 hrs. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Unfortunately, my car has been at the Service Center for 14 weeks to correct paint and Falcon Door issues. @nowyouknow … I heard about the balcony “plug-in” solar in your video, an excellent idea! So what I understood from you is that you just set it up and plug it into a wall socket because they have their own microinverters. How safe are these and are they even legal here in the US? The reason I asked is that your home is ALWAYS connected to the grid. If the power company needs to repair the grid and need to de-energize them (a power failure) all these solar panels will keep the grid energized since they are plugged into your wall socket. That could kill someone, like the repair people! So there may be more to this system, like a modification of your connection to the grid so that your home gets disconnected to the grid during a power failure. Even then, even if your home gets disconnected to the grid during a power failure, your PV system only generates so many Watts, with your home energized only by your balcony PV system it will mess up your appliances , like your fridge, because of the low wattage provided. It’s a whole can of worms …UNLESS, their balcony PV system DETECTS a grid (power) failure and automatically disconnects. If so, can you please verify this?

I may have this wrong but some USPS vehicles drive 7 miles per day. They do frequent stops, stopping and starting, and running when stopped or for heat or AC. A van such as the Ford Transit could do a whole week on one charge and if it had a solar roof or there was a solar wrap available it might not even need charging. If it had a bigger battery it could go one month on a charge. Not sure a Military contractor is the best choice to make a custom vehicle when a production vehicle is available.

There are many more reasons why Diess will not go to Tesla, than reason why he would. For one, his age (64 in October) so he's more interested in leading a quiet life - which is now well-funded given that he's probably been handed a very fat golden parachute. But more compelling is that he does not have much to offer Tesla than they either have already, or can buy much more cheaply. That Diess and Musk "respect" each other is no basis for a more formal relationship. As was mentioned on Autoline Daily, the reasons why Tesla will not take on Diess are the same reasons he got fired from VW for... While Diess has been a firm advocate of EV's, VW's EV programme (particularly the software venture) has been pretty diastrous under his watch. I've also heard that while Diess is no longer VW CEO, his contract (to 2025) is to be played out with Diess offering "consulting services" to VW. In reality, Diess's active participation in VW is over and the "consultancy" red herring is just a means to keep him away from competitors... I mean... who wouldn't take an annual paypacket of $10,000,000 and have no obligation to do any work? Why would Diess accept probably a similar package from Tesla, and then have the MASSIVE stress associated with it? No... Diess will quietly retire to a villa in Bavaria, or the Cote 'd Or, and chuckle to himself from the sidelines.

As far as Diess, I don't know. What I know is that companies in Germany are a lot different than companies in the US. They have a buy in from the employees where the employees are given a weight in decision making which doesn't work with American business leadership, and is partly why I never understood Tesla building a plant in Germany. So it's hard for me to understand how any of this Tesla in Germany is going to play out, regardless of what happens with Diess. I think at some point the expectation will be Tesla behaves like a German company in Germany and if Tesla doesn't operate that way I just don't know what the buy in will be from the workers in the long run. I don't think it will be "Oh you're an American company so you can feel free to do as you want because you know best". However, the mission of Tesla as far as making BEV is clear so that won't be questioned, but if Tesla's Agile style of program management sees people coming in and out the door, I know THAT part won't go well in Germany.

One of the little mysteries of life is just how much profit are businesses making on their new EVs… I remember hearing a GM exec explain how the then new Bolt version was expected not to lose money. I suspect they are still losing money. I’m expecting that between cost of manufacturing AND warranty costs, they may not be making much money over at Porsche. The Taycan, which is one of their best selling series, may be on its way to being a big money loser. Porsche and the German government are pushing hard for e-fuel. If you can refer me to a profitability chart on EVs, I greatly appreciate it. I STRONGLY suspect many are losing money on their EVs but are willing to put up with this to try to protect their ICE share of the market.
