Hi Jani, just did this on my bmw . 2011, It was because i had not been on a motorway for 2 years, but i think it could be helpful to let your viewers know you do not even need a programme or any computer equipment to do this, I simply added premium fuel, went 30 miles away from my home, about 70-90 mph depending on the traffic, did the same back home, and the temperature and force of breathing in gallons of air and really giving the car a good heavy foot session can do this, i think your viewers could benefit from knowing you do not need any monitoring equipment to do this, some guy under neath just asked you if he could do it with another type of computer, you said your not sure, but you dont need ANY COMPUTER, all the computer does is monitor the temp etc, it doesnt actually do anything, the drive does, i think people find this confusing, maybe you should clear that up for them, as not all people have these items, and more importantly, not many know how to use them either, its much simpler than all this, cars usually are. Thanks..

Thanks, absolutely agree that it's really vital to focus on the solution and essential aspects following any diagnostics, as many ordinary DIYers don't have the diagnostic knowledge or equipment, but want to learn about the solution method. Monitoring the changes with electronic tools is interesting but no use unless we have the equipment and can confuse ordinary DIYers.

Done mine yesterday car was at 1040mg started burning after about 10 mins 70mph cruising drove consistently for about another 30-40 mins got it down to 133mg deleted errors turned off engine then started read errors the dreaded 30ae had gone finally gone after 2 years of this error i bought a new nox 1 year ago and thought it would solve the error but the only way to get rid of it is through this process brilliant thank you for your perfect demonstration-of how to successfully and correctly remove the error and obviously maintain your engine running smoothly and correctly 👍

Just did this, but without the live tracking of sulfur (garage activated it for me) and I did about an hour drive. Does the MPG tend to increase quite fast? As during the drive the mpg stayed pretty much consistent.

Hi I have the 30EA error in the error history "Haupt speicher" and not in the current memory. This error is not currently active. My NOx ppm values read out to be very low. However my car still doesn't go into stratified charged mode. What could be the issue? Could it be because of the 30EA error?

Hi, i drove 130km/h with the car in 4th/5th gear (4-5000rpm), but i had problem reaching high enough temperatures. It was just when i accelerated or drove up a hill that the temperature reached over 550 degrees and Bank 1 came under 1,00. What do i have to do? Btw, love you video, it's very easy to follow and understand!

Thanks! 👍 Should be able to drive a bit like "traction" on all the time. In fact, it is advisable to drive in 5 or 6 gears so that the heat in the NOX system remains high. If the heat tends to drop while driving, you can also apply the brake lightly from time to time while driving but keep the gas constant at all times.

Fantastic video- I followed all your steps. I found 4th gear to be more effective then 5th and i kept accelerating on and off which speeded up the process. I was on 935mg and went down to 0mg. However as I drove back. The mg kept going back up it went back to 7mg as I got home. Then I cleared the code. Is this normal ? Also I did the Nox test and found that my offset sensor (schubabschaltung) was stuck at 18 i saw yours sruck at 15 . Also I was able to get to 32 in 9 seconds. Or 20 in 7 seconds. Does this mean I still need to change the sensor

I used the same process with mine, kept accelerating from 120 to 160 in 4th gear and it cleaned it much much quicker, but I checked it a week later and it was back to 50mg but car was driving very well and economically after the process

Hi, thanks for Your videos, very helpful. Small questions here - is it some “best practise” make before re-adaptations desulphation? Have error 2A27 and I want to try desulph first ( 470mg now) + readaptation , maybe it help. Thankss

in static will work or not ? i dont have the road for doing that .... i trie and when i reache 550°-600° lambdaset poit come down from 1.00 to 0.97-0.95 and then i cant go furthe because the small roar ... and then i lose temp 450-300 and lambda goes al 1.0 ... so is a shit in France whit small road ..ani idea hou can regenerate my Nox catalyst ?

Hi mate, quick question: on my N43 320i when I get to the INPA menu for shift + f3: EOL Desulfatisation, nothing comes up, so I can’t get to the menu with the readings, di you know how I can fix this?

Did this with the mechanics on my 118i with n43b20 engine. We read 760mg value when we had started the process, and it decreased to 160mg after 30 minutes. Then it started to increase again and stopped around 260mg. This value didn't change even after 30 minutes more driving, so we decided to finish. The nox sensor is practically new. Does it make sense to repeat the process again?

Hi! If you mean an app, then the INPA app and the K + DCAN USB cable between the laptop and the car. In fact, I've been using Microsoft's Surface Pro

So I habe to force/start this cleaning process via INPA or does it also happen when I just drive 110km/h for 30min with a full tank?

Yes you should succeed without INPA. For longer and faster driving, it should turn on automatically if the NOX calatytic Converter has high contamination. But it’s hard to tell if it’s going to turn on or not. With INPA, you can force it on and you can also monitor the situation.

Hello! I have a 1 Series 2008 116i 122HP. I have the 30EA DME: DeNox catalytic converter, sulphurized error. It lost some of its power, but it can still accelerate over 110km/h. Do you think it could be fixed using this method? Thank you!

If you have DTC 30EA, then this method will at least get it down. But the real reason is worth finding out ... I hope you find the problem! 👍

Hi , i have N53 engine, i replaced the NOX sensor but i keep getting code: 30DC, do you think this cleaning would fix it? im struggling since 2 years now, and none of any mechanic could tell me how could i fix it, i still have a rough idle when cold and big fuel consumption, would this cleaning help? ill take any advise, Thank you

Stratified charge mode is unlikely to turn on due to a fault code. For this reason, high fuel consumption is usually due. I would do the burning run, as well as clean the sensor before replacing. That sensor is silly expensive and in addition it has to be coded in the car, as well as make adaptations to reset. Another thing to look out for is the fuel injectors. If they "leak," they will destroy the expensive nox Catalytic coverter over time. I hope you get your car in order 👍

my lambda stay at 1.00 and only drop to 0.96 for few seconds. I was driving like 30min -> restarted proces -> drive 30min home (i had full tank and drive 110-130km/h) but i gain 2mg in this process not lost. I dont have error but i have 210mg now. whats wrong? should i drive longer time? N43/118i

Did you start burning at INPA? The speed must be such that the exhaust pipe reaches a temperature of 550 to 650 degrees. Otherwise, the burn will not start. When burning starts, lambda stays below 1 (eg 0.96) as long as the exhaust temperature remains correct.

I'm reading a really high value of Sulphur (5400mg). I drove for 2 hours, about 110-120 km/h with an exhaust tempature of 570 but nothing is happening. I checked the NOx sensor and it gave me 17 ppm while the max on the slider is 5 ppm. I think I have to replace my NOx sensor in order to desulpher.

Yes, NOx sensor is dead. On my car, exhaust temperature must be over 580C to start the proces.

Ive cleaned the nox sensor was not that dirty left in petrol overnight and dried it out ive put it back on.i had a fault 30 ea which came on and then went off itself on 2 occassion prior to me cleaning sensor .would that have sorted the issue i drove the car for 40 mins at around 80 mph constant no speed loss or anything do i have to reset the adaptations

If you had problems with long time with nox system, its good advice to delete adaptions and re-learn them again. Before that check your sulphur status of nox catalytic converter. Before deleting adaptations, use forced cleaning for nox catalytic converter 👍

Jani, question. I have started to have this issue with my car here in NZ. i cant do more than 100km/h plus i can barely maintain 100km/h here in NZ for 10mins straight. Is there an alternative option?

This is a problem with this car. The engine is designed for long driving. In Finland, the same problem, especially in winter when speed limits are dropped downwards for the winter. You have to find a suitable road where you can drive more than 110km / h long enough. There is no other solution.

@@JaniVoutilainen I got ENPA connected. so the NOX values are 230mg but in ur other video you say if the offset is more than 5ppm the sensor needs to be replaced. mine is !7. Does that mean i need to replace the NOX sensor?

If you get DTC 30EA already at 400mg, then you can try forced burning run and may by also NOX sensor replacement. But I think it's just a momentary help. Only replacing or physically cleaning the NOX Catalytic Converter will probably help. For example, opening the converter and cleaning it from the inside. This I thought I would try next myself as soon as spring comes. 👍 We hope you find a solution!

Burning usually starts spontaneously when you drive at a sufficiently fast speed for a longer period of time and the sulphurized situation is high. With INPA and ISTA-D you can turn on that burn at any time. If you do not own INPA, then you should go for a long run with a tougher driving … and hope so that burning starts. Harder driving sometimes helps ;)

Morjesta, osaisitko jeesata? Paljon juttua tästä google täynnä mut missään ei oo ratkastu loppuun. Eli e90 n43 ja antaa koodia 0030e9. Oikein ymmärrä et onko vika nox anturissa vai katalysaattorissa vai missä? Edes noxin poltto pakottamalla ei onnistu. Muuta vikakoodeja ei anna.

Pätkäajolla ei noxipoltto mene päälle ollenkaan. Se vaatii tietyt olosuhteet... Kun NoX pöntön rikki -arvo on riittävän korkea ja ajaa pidempää "vauhdikasta" ajoa, niin polton pitäisi mennä automaattisesti päälle. Ongelma on siinä jos Nox pönttö ei kykene enää käsittelemään rikin määrää, yleensä aiheuttaa esim. 30ea vikakoodin ja sytyttää moottorin vikavalon ja estää stratified-moodin moottorilta. Tähän pakotettu polttoajo yleensä auttaa. N43 moottorissa pakopuoli on tärkeässä roolissa moottorin toiminnan kannalta. Jos se ei ole kunnossa, niin ongelmia on tiedossa...

We do not have highway in my country. Nowhere to drive at 120 kph for 30min.. if i run the car on lift is it ok?

For the Burning run to be successful, the engine must be gassed lightly almost all the time while driving to keep the NOX system temperatures above 580 degrees. I think that, car lift is not the solution in here...

Not sure, but if your engine control module is listed on INPA, i think it is possible. at least with ISTA-D, it works 👍

Hi! Yes you can do it with ista-D Inpa is better able to track values than ISTA-D, at least in my opinion.

Have you ever tested forced desulphation in lower speed than 110km/h but high rpm value? Is it possible to get activated desulphation If motor rpm stays high enough and all other conditions are met? Where do you measure speed (car standard speedometer, speed measured via bus..). I mean if I drive 110km/h measured by speedometer I get speed value of 100km/h via bus or phone gps.

In order for the forced desulphation run to remain on, the heat of the NOX system must be kept above 580 degrees. It works best when you drive in sixth gear over 110km and let the engine pull lightly all the time. Maintaining temperatures is not dependent on RPM. As the speed increases too much, I have lightly applied the brake at the same time ... Personally, I monitor the car's speedometer and NOX system temperature with INPA during the burning run

I guess that doesn't help anymore, but worth a try! And if that doesn't help then the options are the expensive NOX Catalytic Converter replacement or its physical cleaning or Noxem.
