Hi Nick, great video again. Tip on wireless Apple CarPlay: I’ve bought a dongle for this and it works great. Although, you really need to buy a right angled USB-C adapter between the car’s USB port and any (!) cable connecting to this port, because otherwise the cup hold cover will not close properly and damage the cable among other things (experienced user 😅). This in my B-Class anyway. The cropped view, I’ve seen, can be extended to full view in other video on other car brands, but they involve third party device which would replace the existing unit in your car.

You can adjust the haptic on some cars under settings HOME SETTINGS / SYSTEM (at the end on the right) And under AUDIO there’s a setting to change the click Hope that helps! Glad you enjoy them! 👍🏼

Very nice video, thank you... I have two other questions, both regarding climate control. 1) my S206 C-class has electric heating (most likely), now in winter air from the vents is immedialtely warn, but it really overdoes it. After several minutes the car is very warm inside, then the air temperature sudenly changes to quite cold as it tries to hit the set temperature - is there a way to adjust the intesity of the electric heating, so the car does not get so hot minutes after setting of? 2) Is there a way to disable lowering air-con intesity when on a phone call? @@npoleary Thanks for your reaction. What I mean by "electric" is that there is hot air coming from the vents even when the engine is cold, so it (most likely) uses electricity to generate heat. Will check your Air-con video. Thanks again for great content

Thank you! Sadly only models with the MBUX multimedia system can be upgraded to have CarPlay as you can purchase it over the air via the Mercedes me store. If it’s any other multimedia system, then CarPlay has to be specified at factory and cannot be added afterward unless you sourced a 3rd party solution.

Hi Nick just bought a U2Air pro. Great device. Very pleased with it. My car is a C300 cab 2022 model. I only use ACP in google maps and Spotify. When I start up I sometimes have difficulty getting in to ACP and loading both apps without having to flick around. Is there an easy way to get straight into Google Maps and Spotify easily. Ah nice! Annoyingly some things like that can be Apple. They force us to use their default apps most of the time without allowing us to choose a default. Did you know you can reorder the icons which might help? (If you haven’t done so already)

Hey Mark thank you! Glad you’re enjoying them! Sadly not each car’s layout is dependant on how easy entry / exit works. Some move just the backrest, some move the entire seat, it depends how much room there is between the pillars of the cars and of course how far back the seat is.

Hey Nick Just want to say thank you so much for all the videos as I just bought a used CLA200 (2021) few days ago from Mercedes and your videos are absolutely life saving :) Just one question..I've only been driving in comfort mode, and the steering wheel felt very stiff sometimes and made a 'click' sound when turning at a roundabout, and then it became very light and easy to turn few minutes later, I'm wondering if there is something wrong! :( or is there a setting for it?

Hey! Really sorry I wouldn’t know. In the UK, all petrol and diesels do not have this function as it’s only found on hybrids and electric cars here on Mercedes cars. I would presume that you could do both, but sadly I’ve never seen it on a petrol or diesel. I guess you’re based elsewhere? Wish it was here though as it sounds pretty cool!

Nick thanks love the videos. When you do the wireless adaptors, I have a 2021 glc 300 coupe with an AA Wireless Android adaptor. It is like this adapter was made by Mercedes for Mercedes. The integration works so well that even when in Androud auto mode, I can use the nav and radio media buttons on the dash to navigate. I don't have to scroll the touch screen to access those functions. Maybe others do this as well? I'm fairly technically minded and this is seamless and works like a factory unit. Just FYI. @Nick O'Leary AAWireless is what it is called. I can also skip songs from the centre pad. Again I feel this adaptor was made for mercedes. I bought 2, 1 for me and one for the wife's hyundai i30N. I can say it works better with my glc. BTW I don't have any vested interest, just an extremely happy client. It works via an app and dongle so all updates go to the app and then the app can update the dongle. So much better than dongles with no app. cheers

@_ eMike yes cropped so it shows in a square format. You can't use your media app on mbux so you switch between it and mbux via the home button on the steering wheel and and the AA button on the top RHS of the screen. It is actually easier to navigate to as your not scrolling the mbux apps to get to the media app

Hey Ryhn00, thank you! There are certain restrictions on parking assist systems in manufacturers with use on the road so sadly come cars out there can’t do parallel parking. The easiest way to tell is just by trying in a car from the cars I’ve driven

point 10 pre-entry climate control. You say only available on plugin hybrids and electric mercedes. But on some other mercedes you can get it as an option i mean on mild hybrids and ice versions. I have a 2019 model mercedes B 250 which is an ice 224hp engine, but it has this also even a remote and ofcourse mercedes me app, it uses as i remember 0,3litres of fuel in half an hour and is a couple of kw and is options code 228 AUXILIARY HEATER, at least on mine that i imported from germany. Maybe it isn't an option on uk versions. But this is now the 2nd video from you where you talk about it and say it is only on full electric and plugin versions. Still a thumbs up.

Hey Rob, just double check you’ve got “Enable Notifications” enabled on your phone. On your iPhone: SETTINGS BLUETOOTH Find MBUX / MB BLUETOOTH in the list and tap on the “i” Then enable SHOW NOTIFICATIONS If that doesn’t work, try unpairing the phone from the car and reconnect back up 👍🏼

If it’s a plug-in hybrid you have to plug it in to charge (hence the name) Some really older plug-in hybrids did offer charging while driving but it is the worst thing to do. The whole point of a plug-in hybrid is to avoid using fuel on certain journeys and use electricity instead.

@@npoleary But it cost me 16 Euro to fully charge the car for 55 KM and 60 Euro to fill the tank for 500 KM. So Charging will cost more with less mileage. What is the point then?

Where are you charging that seems extremely steep? To maximise the use of electric you want to get your electricity from the cheapest place possible. This will be at home on standard tariffs or even better off peak tariffs. If I charged a GLA 250e up my home in the UK at £0.07 per kW off peak, it would be just under £1. Converted I think that’s just over €1. If you are charging in public, try to avoid that as it’s very expensive! Although I do appreciate not everyone can charge at home, in which case shop around for the cheapest public charging.

@npoleary the place I charged was 0.67 Euro per kW. Way too expensive. And I don't have a charger at my rental home. So I have 2 options. Either leave the battery empty or change my home😁. Is it OK to leave the battery at 1 percent?

I believe most car manufacturers have a buffer either end of the battery capacity to help with prolonged periods of not charging. But best to check with Mercedes directly and they can let you know

Sadly I only started by channel in 2020 so have limited videos prior to that…however start / stop systems will always kick in every time you turn the car on. But you can turn them off per session usually by a symbol that has an “A” in it. Or on older cars it might say Eco I think it’ll be beneath your volume wheel in the middle of the car 🤓

Hi Nick. I have a GLC300. My easy entry exit is frustrating. I am short so I have the seat quite forward. I also like to sit high. When I exit the car the steering wheel goes up but the seat doesnt go back. My husband sits low and the seat goes back. I find this very frustrating as it is actually more difficult to get out if you sit high.

Hey Rasees-Playz, yes I’d heard that too and noticed it when I filmed a car the other day. I believe now it’s just the automatic function present on keys. So if you didn’t know they actually switch off after a few minutes due to an in-built motion sensor. Saves battery and helps with theft etc so you don’t need to worry about it now! 🤓 Of course you can take extra precautions like a faraday pouch etc

Hey Hans, really sorry I wouldn’t know. I know that some specs vary massively so this is probably another thing that varies round the world. Only thing I can suggest is get in touch with Mercedes to see if they offer fitting of that but quite often they’re only allowed to fit or replace items that were originally on the car. Officially they’re not allowed to modify them.

Ooo nice! Only been to one of those once! I’ve not seen an on / off button for the lights but try changing the lights to one of the parking lights when the ignition is on. This will usually turn them off

You don’t replace functions, Android Auto is just an app itself which makes like a mini version of your phone on the screen 👍🏼

This can happen even too for medical and health for us, the last thing you should ever do is look on there or Google something like that! 😅 Forums can be good places to find info but I haven’t heard any owners in the comments section on my videos mentioning that on any model of Mercedes.

Nick, the software update on my 2019 E300 will only go to 98% I’ve tried it twice and even taken the car to my Mercedes Benz dealer. They said there’s no way to complete the update. It’s taken about two weeks for it to get to the 98%. Any ideas?

Hey Dale, ah don’t worry two weeks is quite normal for software updates on COMAND. It sounds really excessive but don’t worry there’s a couple of reasons. For the processor of the car, it basically runs at an extremely low priority so not to slow up the user interface (when using Sat Nav / radio etc). Map updates on the model prior to this had to be done in the workshop and over the air updates did not exist. Another reason why it can take some time is that, it’ll only update when the ignition is on and the car has sufficient signal. So depends how much you drive the car. If after some time it’s still not working, you could try a manual update on this video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6rTY62GYpJ9itk The above method is faster but requires a bit of work as you’ll need memory sticks etc. If all else fails, a Mercedes technician can take a look, they can update in their workshops but there would be a charge for that if the car is out of warranty so try the above methods first 👍🏼

Hi Nick, On the new 2023 C43 MBUX, How can I use Google Maps on my Iphone to enter address instead of typing it on the Screen? This method seems to work with Apple Maps but not with Google Maps.

You’ll have to use Apple CarPlay rather than the in-built Sat Nav. So when it’s connected just open up Google Maps on CarPlay and use that instead. Anything to type on Google Maps on your phone would appear on your car.

Ah you can turn that off, I would recommend if you’re the only driver. It’s in profile settings on the Home Screen on MBUX 👍🏼

@@npoleary This Position Display is to show the vehicle location from MercedesMe connect app. Without this enabled in the MBUX, the MercedesMe app cannot locate the position or location of the car from Geofencing menu.

Sadly not all cars can do full screen CarPlay. There are other manufacturers who have come across the same before. The reason is because MBUX (also known as NTG 6) on Mercedes is available in two screen sizes, 7” & 10.25”. When designing and coding I’m led to believe that you can only choose one (to maintain compatibility) for everything. So to make sure it works on all models, Mercedes of course had to go with the 7” version, which is perfect for 7” owners but of course leads to a cropped experience if you have a 10.25” screen. NTG 7 found in some new cars have higher faster processors and have one screen size leading to a full screen experience on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Hope that explains potentially why it’s like that on some cars!

No sadly not, it folds away to protect it from road debris like mud and rain etc. You can manually open it to clean it when parked but it’ll fold away automatically

Hey Bal, no sadly there isn’t a way to download info like that, plus I’m not sure a parking company would accept that as evidence. They’re more likely to check out their own CCTV and see who the driver was. Good idea though!

Just had 3 PCNs land on me when I have never been to that location, which is over 2 hours away. So I have to pay the Penalty Notices or try and prove my innocence. Sorry nick you’re not right about the CarPlay cropping. Senior Mercedes have answers this question and it’s about displaying home button and temp all the time. It’s nothing to do with technical compatibility. I wish they would change their mind cause it looks totally naff cropped and I would never pay to activate that.

Hi Nick - my A35 (2019) does not have a Mercedes me app in MBUX (just browser app), and all My Mercedes me services are stuck in "activating" state, I don't see any car updates on the iOS app either but the car was linked by the dealer (since second hand car). Any thoughts on how to resolve this? It has never worked and means Mercedes Me does not work and I cant buy any upgrades. Help appreciated!!!!

Hey, yes some cars have CarPlay as standard but some you can upgrade (just depends what was on the car when it was new). I have a question, with the MME app, it can show the starter battery partially charged except when you try to find out where the battery is there is nothing on Google or KZbin to tell you where it is for the GLC300 at least. I have asked my dealer and they will "get back to me" #justasking

Hi I've recently taken delivery of a 2022 eqc premium plus , I noticed my ils wasn't working , I went into settings to check I had it switched on which it was and it still isn't working , no headlights move when driving round corners and no smart high beam , am I doing anything wrong?

Hey daveyg, ooo very nice! I would double check with Mercedes-Benz like at your local dealership, they will be able to help. MULTIBEAM LED isn’t available everywhere in the world (sorry it’s hard to tell where everyone is based in the comments section 😅). In the UK it is available on certain specifications but just make sure your headlights (light switch next to the driver’s door) is set to AUTO. If it’s set to the right, it won’t do anything automatic. If you still get stuck, I would suggest contacting your local Mercedes and they’ll be able to help you out and check it out in person 👍🏼

Hey Alice, tyre wear can vary massively. It depends on your load in the car, the brand of tyre, how much you use it and how fast the car accelerates and things like tyre pressures. Generally speaking premium branded tyres stick to the road better and have awesome stopping distances where as budget tyres might not be as sticky and therefore might not also stop as fast in an emergency.

I renewed my Live Traffic after the 3 years. Never worked from day 1. Spoke to Mercedes Me support and went to my local dealer. Dealer couldn’t help, just told me to speak to Mercedes Me. After 20+ calls to them they essentially told me I was using pirated maps and I’d have to buy all new maps. Not happy in the slightest.

The screen cropping on Apple car play is very annoying. My android auto does the same thing. The left one third of the screen simply has a symbol. How can cars costing half as much have figured this out and a luxury brand can not? I'm guessing they just want to force you to use their crappy paid nav and such. Unacceptable.

And I did see that you explained that in the video, I just don't understand (I'm no programmer) why they couldn't code a separate version for whichever screen the car is made with, or maybe I'm just a bit angry because I just bought the 2020 AMG C43 over the 2019 in part because of the larger screen. So Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen sizes will vary depending the model. In some car manufacturers because they have different screen resolutions for multiple models, as far as I’m aware some of them have to code it to work for the smaller version which leads to a cropped experience on the larger screens. Google Maps is just an app on both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so won’t make a difference to screen resolution etc
