Mr.Analyst , let's not forget that north Korea understands that South Korea & Japan don't have nuclear weapons and depend on US protection. Therefore , what if North Koreans fired most of their nuclear weapons against US mainland to destroy the decision making centers in US ? Let's not forget that North Koreans are very calculative .

too risky, North K has the capabilities of hiting american cities. Its a deadlock, Nuk and u take the risk of being nuked, invade a the cost of MILLIONS of dead from South K. according to simulation its about 2 millions deads within 24h.

The North Korean biggest defense it nuclear weapon. We know if we attack first Japan and South Korea will be devastated. I don’t think they can hit the USA or would try and have it get intercepted. We definitely know it can hit Japan and South Korea it would be extremely hard to intercept at such a small distance.

Great simulation. Terrifying results as in any nuclear exchange. However, am I the only one wandering why N.Korea attacked Japan and S.Korea after US have launched preemptive strike against it? I mean wouldn't a retaliatory strike be against US mainland?

Us has stations with quite a bit of troops in South Korea Guam and Hawaii all of which are nearby

@@Ytchannel02 yeah, but they can be destroyed by conventional weapons, which N.Korea has in abundance. I would imagine it would use it's precious nuclear arsenal to inflict damage where it cannot buy other means.

You have to know the full history of Korea. I'm surprised that would spare any nukes for South Korea. Both Koreas hate their Japanese brothers so much, if they knew they were to die, taking Japan out would be their dieing act of Defiance.

It is very questionable that the US would use nuclear weapons on N. Korean cities. The targets would be more counter-force (military targets) oriented, rather than counter-value (cities). BTW, Chinese nuclear war doctrine has been all counter-value, (cities) which is a reason they didn't build a large nuclear arsenal as did the USA and USSR. If forced to use nukes, China was simply going to wipe out the civilian population of the enemy country - no messing around with military targets. But that now seems to be changing, and China is finally starting to build missile silo fields and various other infrastructure and launch methods.

Actually the chinese would always have targeted military bases but the soft above ground ones that are large and easy to hit even with pretty bad accuracy. Thing is most of these bases are close to major cities. A strike focused on them would still devastate more than 20 large cities including some of the very largest. If that isn't enough to cripple US society(it is) then nothing is. To give a few examples San Diego Seattle Phoenix Oklahoma city Denver Omaha parts of Las Vegas parts of LA Tucson Albequrque all have military targets of importance in some way. The loss of San Diego alone is enough to overwhelm the entire National Guard of not just California but several other states in disaster relief operations. The US at most can handle the loss of 5 cities ie it wouldn't overwhelm responders. At about 20 leaving aside the massive losses sustained by responders themselves the fabric of society would start unraveling. It would be even worse once the recession really hits and you've got millions with nothing to lose and US military whose morale is rock bottom following a catastrophe without precedent.

​@@majorintel9623exactly, and they DEFINITELY have enough to functionally destroy Amer1ca, or even a nation like Russ1a (by population distribution). But, being that Ch1na and Russ1a are very close now, and N K0rea is essentially a satell1te nation kept afloat by Ch1na and to a lesser extent, Russ1a, both nations would likely lob their wpns at the U S A in such a scenario as this (most likely). It would of course also depend what the ultimate causation behind the exchange was, and if Ch1na and Russ1a were badly effected by fallout, which I'm sure could play a role in their decision whether or not to retaliate.

Apart from the obscene war crimes that the US committed in this scenario, I really don't think that either China or Russia would stand by and let North Korea be vaporized. The one thing stopping the US from wiping NK off the map is the threat of China and or Russia doing the same to the US. I understand that Chinese strategy is rapidly changing but their strategy throughout the Cold War was to simply absorb the massive US countervalue strike and then rebuild faster than the US - far easier when they outnumber the Americans 5 to 1 and still have a much lower level of urbanization. And by striking first and obliterating North Korea and starting WWIII I really don't think that the US would get much sympathy from Europe or the rest of the world.

The game is available on Steam (Nuclear War Simulator) and allows you to run dozens of pre-set scenarios, with any additions or subtractions you may choose. If you wanted to model a limited US trike on Canadian territory then it would be dead simple to implement.

The docrtine of "Pre-emptive War" was declared invalid by the IMT at Nuremberg. There is nothing even close to legal in international war to justify any of this. IF it did occur as you describe, there is no doubt this would be the end of the world, including the United States. BTW, Russia has recently provided N Korea with updated ICBMs. Something to think about...

​@@TheWholeGrainBread_Realthey possibly have the potential to reach Washington DC but that would take more time and there's a high probability that those nuclear missiles would get shot down they would likely go after South Korea and Japan because there would be less time to shoot those nukes down there's about 50 ground-based interceptors in Alaska that could potentially hit them in their mid-course if they were fired at the continental United States

Seoul, the capital of South Korea is right across the border from N. Korea. The greater Seoul area has 40% of S. Korea's population and economy. South Korea should be highly motivated to stop the USA from attacking North Korea, up to including the use of force against the US military in South Korea.
