It's all in the ears of the beholder. Taste is like the buttocks, divided and unlike. To me, Troy Sanders is the weakest link while Greg and Max as always shows how to wash the clothes properly, how to shoot the duck, how to kick some ass. Like they did in "Rise of the Fallen", but this is way better. The whole album is very good while Greg Puciatos other side project is even better (perhaps THEE best), The Black Queen (no metal).

If you ever get the chance to see these guys live DO IT! Saw them at their 2nd show ever, at Soundwave in Adelaide, Slipknot JUST beat them for my band of the festival. They did a side wave supporting Lamb of God and by all accounts Lamb of God could not compete and they should have been supporting Killer Be Killed... although i did notice they had a additional guitarist on stage but cant remember his name. If they come back to Australia i will definitely be seeing them again, Amazing energy

For those who are not familiar with Greek mythology, this song references Icarus, son of Daedalus. Daedalus built the Labyrinth for King Minos to imprison the Minotaur, spawn of the Cretan Bull and the king's wife, but he and Icarus were jailed by the king for helping his daughter help Theseus defeat the Minotaur. In order to escape, Daedalus built wings of, what else? Wax and feathers. Daedalus flew first, and warned Icarus not to fly to high or to low, but to follow his flight pattern. Basically, Icarus became too excited by this new experience and flew too high, causing the wings to melt. He fell to his death into, what is now known as the Icarian Sea, and drowned. I really appreciate when artists from other bands get together for a project and don't sound like any of their original bands, I love Dillinger Escape Plan, Mastodon, Sepultura and Converge but they already exist so I'm glad that Killer be Killed sounds like Killer be Killed and not like those other bands. Originality is king, especially in Metal/rock.

Sadly his usual thing looks gimpy and out of place. I loved Maxs Sepultura and Soulfly as well, but the only thing i dislike about this song, is the Bridge in which Max is singing. It sounds like it has been snipped directly out of a Soulfly song. It only annoys me because Troy and Greg have done something completely different to their own respective bands, whereas it seems Max has been playing/writing the same song for the past 20 years.

I like the song, I really do. But it really bugs me when people let go of their instruments to make unnecessary hand movements at the detriment of the performance. I know it's a music video, but it ruins the illusion that they are actually playing. Much like other videos where nothing is plugged in or everyone has their instruments but nobody is singing into a mic.

If that bugs you in a video, don't even think about seeing Soulfly live, Max wears his guitar just because he think he looks cool, Max barely plays it anymore, i think he would be better off without it in live shows because he uses his hands to make gestures while he sings.

Don't get me wrong though, Soulfly is one of my favorite bands ever, the music that Max do is just great, always experimenting and very tribal and spiritual at the early records, is just the live part of max presentations (the rest of the band is great at live shows, at least max has another guitar player that fix the show) that sucks.

I totally get what you are saying, but for the sake of musing, when Max sings and let's go of the guitar there is no lead part playing which implies (though the studio version is probably double tracked) that said guitar part will suffice with a single guitar. So in a live show that would likely happen without any compromise. This being said the single left arm gesture right by the end is a bit more of a stretch. I mean, it could still be explained with a good enough bass overdrive pedal to let the bass carry the mix and admittedly the rhythm guitar in that section is very low anyways so you could even get away with that in a liveshow, but that wouldn't explain why the second guitar was necessary for the prior iterations of that chorus.

Troy is the coolest mf-ing dude in metal. Really nice guy too. Wouldn't go back on the tour bus after Mastodon's show until everyone was tired of talking to him lol. A real showman and fan oriented for sure.
