increasing the core frequency on NVIDIA cards is an undervolt. +100Mhz shifts the whole curve up 100Mhz which is like (depending on the curve in your bios) a 0.025v undervolt across the curve excluding max frequency which is achieved at max voltage and at +100Mhz. You want to reduce it's ability to hit max clocks to save power, then pull down the power limit.

I want to make a correction. Unless you play around with voltage there really is no way to hurt your gpu with overclocking via msi afterburner. You can max out the power limit and temp limit and it wont hurt your gpu. memory clocks don't hurt at all they just might reach a point where you see no further performance gains and performance actually gets worse.

Not sure why it would take 20-30 minutes for something they just add a default increase in VRAM clocks and a tiny core clock increase... Just got a 7900 GRE a few days ago after upgrading from a 2080 ti and the AMD OC panel is so easy to use. You can OC within seconds, test the settings and save it if it seems stable. If your pc crashes it will automatically set your GPU to default, then you can load your last saved OC and dial things a little back and test again.

When I tried the one click, mine jumped to 130 fps on the ship and 87-95 fps in the game. I have a great cooler, a 4070 and i7-14700KF- with a z model motherboard. Now, I am new to PC gaming. I only owned my PC for about 5 months and only tried overclocking the last 2 months. But in terms of performance, the one-click worked better for me. For Nvidia, it really makes the most sense to do a UV/OC, because they definitely push their cards way too hard(at least for the 30 and 40 series cards I have tested).

I have a pretty beefy MSI Suprim X 3090 but just an 850W PSU with a ton of peripherals and things sapping power. I have a feeling it occasionally runs out of juice and crashes games, as my machine is pretty stable otherwise. The scanner with default settings cranked my GPU clocks and Memory by about 200mhz, but could I instead lower the power slider to still get a modest result that runs quieter/cooler more within my PSU's capabilities?

I'm not a fan of nVidia's self-throttling. I don't fully understand it, but it's based on temps and power usage. I'm certain that their firmware doesn't take the silicon lottery into account but rather is overly cautious to encompass the fringe cards that pass QA but but are silicon lottery losers. I've had my best results by undervolting and bumping up the clock rate. It doesn't get the highest peak clocks as bumping up the voltage, but with a lower voltage the temps stay lower and you use less power so it mitigates nVidia's self-throttling and maintains a higher than stock clock-rate for a lot longer. Just hope you did well with the silicon lottery and have a card that is stable at lower voltages.

@@PCBuilderChannel Since I have a Zotac 4080, I tried both OC scanner and got the exact same result.

i did this and performance was a issue drop of frames but the over clock it auto clock wasn't the best turn back to my original OC settings no more performance issues

Overclocking is not worth it anymore for modern GPU ( 3000 series and higher ). You will just gain what ? 5 fps ? 7 fps at best ? But at the cost of more electrecity consumption and higher GPU temps. So you end up paying more for your electrecity usage AND having higher GPU temps only to gains 5 fps which make no difference in game. Higher temperatures also means your fans spin faster and louder.. it's also important. The best thing to do nowadays is to undervolt the GPU. A proper undervolting will lower your electrecity consumption and won't reduce any performance of your GPU by lowering the voltage of the GPU while maintaining a constant max clock. It will also greatly reduce your temperatures and your PC will be quieter. But to be honest, if your temps are okay, just keep your GPU stock.. don't even bother. Undervolt won't make a big difference in your wallet.. it won't even be noticable. It's more for people who suffer from high temperatures or want their fans to spin slower for the noise.

Think todays it’s more about undervolting in both CPU and GPU.

Quelle coincidence. You got the same result as me. I'm not sure the tuning does anything other than apply a predetermined tune.

I don't know if it works on there but you can try downloading the link in the video description. I can't imagine it would make much difference though even if it works.

Nvidia app is worst, i used the autp overclocking function and my pc shut down lol and no im not new in overclocking, i even have plenty experience in it. I deleted the app and installed geforce experience again but the problem persist, i dont know whats that for bad software....

You see, that's one thing you never hear people talk about in the AMD vs Nvidia debate. AMD has a vastly better, easier to use and access UI than Nvidia. Everything you could ever really need and more is available from just one application
