Because Intel GPU's still have a hard time with certain titles, and there's no telling how long driver support will last given the company's current financial struggles. 8GB in 2024 is a dead-end financial investment, but that might be the case for Intel cards, too.

My only problem right now is to ensure their drivers are in line with what Nvidia and AMD are doing. The slightly low power needed for the B580 is also a bonus in my book.

11:28 If you are dealing with these issues, try disabling "Game Filters and Photo Mode" in your NVIDIA App's Settings. According to Hardware Unboxed, the problem doesn't necessarily come from the App itself, but within a setting ALONGSIDE the overlay. Might not be the actual reason for other people, but I can at the very least say that this did fix a few performance hits I had in my games.

I had all of that disabled but Deep Rock Galactic still had terrible FPS dips on my 7950x/4080S system, I DDU removed that garbage app just went with the driver and boom problem solved. I spent two days testing trying different things but when I removed the app the problem was gone.

The 5060 having only 8gb is a big boost to the B580, especially if Intel's drivers continue to produce significant performance increases. It's looking like Battlemage may remain competitive in value even with the new generation of cards.

@@amigapelit I sidegraded from a 3070 to 4060ti. So 256bit -> 128bit buss, and wierd thing is that the 4060ti is faster. Not much, but it is faster. I needed 16GB vram for other tasks so that is why i did this. I also now have a AN1 encoder for streaming VR better, and frame generation, so it is still overall a better card.

1660s user here, I noticed my FPS dropping or being inconsistent compared to usual and I realised since I installed the Nvidia App, my games (Apex (on EA) and Overwatch (on Steam)) keep adjusting their graphics options to ultra settings every time I start up the game... I mean it could just be me...

I tried the NVIDIA app a few weeks ago, and I saw odd high CPU usage with the system at idle and the NVIDIA app was using over %10 of the CPU. Maybe that has something to do with it? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and the issue continued so I just removed it since I can install my own drivers and use Afterburner as an overlay.

I feel like nvidia has been slowly making their lower tiers worse every generation. The 5070 is *rumored* to have 6400 cores. The 4070 has 7168 cores. Which I know cores aren't everything, but it kinda sounds like the die size will be smaller and cheaper. The xx50 used to be solid options and now they're not, same with the xx60 cards. Now will the xx70 slowly be made to be a poor choice?

11:30 Hardware unboxed disabled the overlay features for game filters and photo mode and then restarted the game for the settings to be applied and that worked correctly as the previous app.

6:45 I think the leak got their wires crossed I can totally see the Legion GO S having a 6800H would love to see it with 24GB of VRAM and SteamOS coming in at around $550, every 6800H device i've tried native SteamOS works great, dont usually need a distro like bazzite you can just get it direct from Valve though i have had rare issues with touch and resolution. Where i think the wires were crossed is the Z2 being a 6800H, i think it would be the GO 2 that will have the Z2 chip and the Z2 will be the same architecture as the Z2X AMD would be..... mentally defunct to name an older slower processor the Z2, or to have 2 entirely different APU architectures share the same name and branding though not out of character with AMD selling Zen2 along side Zen4 with the 7720U and 7840u Also i have the legion GO and the ROG Ally Dont get anything with the Z series of chips if you like driver updates, or if you'd like to use external graphics that arent Nvidia based because the drivers for the Z series are always way behind, and are only supported by the Z series, the problem is that the AMD drivers for an external GPU dont want to install along side the Z series drivers from Lenovo or Asus, or whoever makes the device. When AMD announced they were going to go back to the dark days of ODM only drivers i thought 'naw, not a chance AMD would shoot themselves in the foot like that" And to my surprize there is no good way to install drivers on these devices from AMD it almost always breaks something

The Nvidia app had me scratching my head when i saw that theres around 5 more tasks that show in the taskmanager when you turn on the Metrics Overlay and the filters, when you turn them off, the tasks go down. Im unsure wether that’s significant at all but it sketched me out and i might be tweaking but it feels smoother when its off.

2:30 the 3090 was not the first 90 class card It was the first 90 branded card Before that they were called 80TI and Titan (for the 90TI) We've had this class of card going on..... 15 years? Now the one that was truely first in its class was the 2080TI instead of the 550-650 Titan/90 class, the 2080TI/Titan RTX was a MASSIVE 754mm Edit, the 3090 was the first 90 branded card that wasnt 2 dies, before this XX90 meant there were 2x80 or 85 dies on a single card

@@ameyskulkarni Agreed, I was trying to remember the oldest card in this class, and i was thinking GTX 280/285 from 2008 which IIRC wasnt the normal 600mm but was still within the 550-650mm die size for 80TI/Titan/90 class. My point was we've had this class for a long time and we **usually get something in this class every gen, though sometimes there isnt enough competition to release it as a Geforce card, take GP100 AMD was so bad for those previous generatons that a near 70 class card was called the Titan XP/1080TI where AMD's larger die, on a newer node(scratch that, IIRC they used GloFo), with HBM2 memory failed to compete. 22mm smaller and the TitanXP would have been in the 350-450mm 70 die class with an 80TI/90 class memory bus

The 5050 should have 8gb on a 128-bit bus. The 5060 should have 12gb on a 192-bit bus. The 5070 and 5080 should have 16gb on a 256-bit bus. The 5080 Ti should have at least 20gb on at least a 360-bit bus. The 5090 at 512-bit is confusing but ok.

I wish the legion go would just use a regular apu instead of the z1/z2 extreme. It increases compatibility with egpu drivers without having to necessarily sideboard drivers. Just be honest. $40-50 is a pretty common deciding factor when people are configuring builds… PLUS the tax that hurts, another 10% depending where you are.
