Whenever I see tiny or micro living spaces, all I wanna see are the kitchen and the bathroom, even if they're small. I need both. This is basically a hotel or dorm room with a community bathroom. Glad he's happy but I couldn't do it.
@rachelmaddowswife87132 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm an NYC resident and I agree with you. I think everyone does though, this is a room in a boarding house, not an actual apartment. The title is clickbait. I wanted to see how he crammed all his stuff in there with a bathroom and kitchen counter tops taking up most of the space. What he did looks cute, but it's not that impressive to fit bedroom furniture into a 120 foot space. 120 square feet is actually considered a generous bedroom here. Haha, I'm not kidding. If you're making under 6 figures and you want to live in Manhattan south of Harlem, you're looking at a place with roommates and a bedroom that's closer to 80 square feet. Then it's harder to fit everything in the room, and a more impressive feat if you can do it and still look cute.
@CharlotteIssyvoo2 жыл бұрын
Exactly. It's a room in a boarding house. It is not an apartment. If all he wants is a bedroom of his own, why not go back to having roommates? Then he might actually have a shared kitchen too.

@@rachelmaddowswife8713 I always feel a RV sized bathroom is doable in these types of spaces if the landlord doesn't have a problem with that (which one has to consider) and if the door is at the middle of the room (not at the corner). If he gets a chest of drawers with some space in the middle, it could double as his workspace, thus his desk won't be necessary and that will create more space. I would have gotten high vertical shelves to put my stuff. Summary of the story is that the space is enough for a kitchen area and a RV sized bathroom with some tweaking.

Houses built before the 1950s rarely had closets - people used a piece of furniture called a wardrobe or armoire instead. So having a closet is not really a good definition of a bedroom. A minimum square footage requirement would make more sense.

Thank you so much for showing daily life in small spaces! I feel like there is not nearly enough videos of people living in actually tiny spaces on the internet, other than tiny homes but those are usually specially built with clever storage and not really relatable unless you are living in one. While I don't live anywhere near New York or any big city, I live out in the country but rent a small garage apartment shared with 3 other people and while we have a shared small kitchen and tiny bathroom, 95% of my stuff has to fit in a 120 sq ft room. I feel like he needs a mirror that attaches to the wall for floor space and one with a thinner frame for more open feel.
@NyasiaC4 жыл бұрын
I would agree. I’m not sure if I remember a full length mirror tucked somewhere, but if not that would be great to have.
@bensmithson17734 жыл бұрын
Agree. That mirror is so bulky and wastes valuable space.
@sarahholland26004 жыл бұрын
Agree. It's too dark & bulky for a small space.

This men is a genius he needs to come to Portugal to teach people here lol he made the most slick kitchen station out of nothing! This is someone that understands design, aesthetics and function. Yes its a room, yes its a tiny room but he made the impossible there it looks like a home!

I watch this video every once in awhile when I need inspiration when I feel cramped in my 500 square foot nyc apt. Love his energy and the apartment is full of good vibes.

Love his minimal style. I’ve seen so many people clutter up their tiny apartments.

It's lovely the way it's decorated but this reminds me of a college dorm. No shade just how I see it. Thanks for showing us.

This is the apartment version of the tiny house nation for houses. Hope it doesn’t go down that same road. Saw this cute house that I was going to check into, 1 bdrm/bath, 400 sq feet. It’s a modular, on a foundation house - 120k for the house, plus set up and utility/electrical. So about 160k - for 400 sq ft. 😳

so sad to see you're no longer taking clients :( do you have any recommendations for brokers in Brooklyn who can help find an affordable/no-fee studio? love your videos!!
@NyasiaC4 жыл бұрын
So sorry I couldn't be of help. Especially for Brooklyn, different brokers have access too different apartments. streeteasy.com or renthop.com would be your best bet to find a lot of the listings. Best of luck!

I'm so happy your video popped up in my suggestions. Enjoyed this. New subbie! And thanks for introducing us to Tony. I wanted to highlight black small businesses this holiday season. Perfect timing. Subbed to his channel as well. Keep up the great work!

“Decided to go with a twin size bed.” 😂😂😂 as if there was space for anything else. This is basically an over designed dorm room. I will never understand people who voluntarily live in NYC.
@JoJo-st4rz4 жыл бұрын
Lmaoooo. Freshmam dorm rooms are bigger than that. I cant get over when he said the bathroom gets cleaned 3x a week. Whaaaattt??? 4 ppl use it and it ONLY gets cleaned 3x a week???? Yukkkkkk. I dont get why ppl put up with these micro living spaces in NYC or LAor other places. If enough ppl refused to rent out these types of "apartment" space, the realtors will think twice about putting them up for rent. You cant even breathe in something so tiny.

Not all apartments in New York look like this 🙄. Only if u live in Manhattan
@amyu.97223 жыл бұрын
@@octaviacoaxum8459 Obviously not. I’ve been to NYC for trips. I’ve seen a number of apartments. What I was implying is the cost of living isn’t worth what you get living in NYC.
@Steph-yz4tn3 жыл бұрын
People who are willing to pay that much, are paying for the lifestyle. I personally don't think it's worth it, but to each their own.

Although I wouldn’t live in a spot this size I did for 6 months when I first got here. Don’t worry, we don’t understand people like u. You’re either built for this city or not. I can move back to beautiful California any day but I don’t want to

Oh heck no to that shared bathroom with 3 other people that aren't family or there for the sake of schooling. My hats off to him for his positive vibes, and welcoming space, but I am tap dancing at the fact that he is upgrading to a new space I pray he has running water in this one.
