This was very enjoyable to watch from start to finish. I used to ride these trains on the QJ and KK lines in the 1960s. On very hot days we would stand on the ends of the cars with the doors open to cool off. Thanks for the memories.

Rode these cars quite a few times as a kid/teen. The end of car “storm doors” weren’t locked. You could find them open, closed, and if not latched either way, sliding back and forth. I remember one time, during summer 1975, I rode a R1-9 E Train from Queens Plaza to 42 St standing in an open doorway. It was a neat experience, like 8:02 > 8:12. The sights, sounds and smells were great. Back the. The IND still had its distinctive Ozone and door motor oil aroma.

The painted over letters on the doors most likely say: "Please Keep Hands - Off The Doors". That is what it says on the R4 currently at the Museum.

You should come to DC! They have a six-line metro known as WMATA. It goes through Maryland, DC, and Virginia!

Supertoe the IRT brings out the old Lo V trains when it's opening day at Yankee Stadium as well as the train of many colors. Not sure if the Mets do that on their opening day

@ExploretheUrbans that 🚆 train was packed. We were just about going out of the tunnel toward the 161st st. Station when a loud bang occurred. We all didn't think anything of it, but at that moment, we had an earthquake that rocked the east coast that day Kinda scary

Was actually trying to meet you at Stillwell that day. But of course MTA shenanigans prevented me. Was stuck on a D train outside the station for 10 minutes all while watching your train pull out. I'll see you out on the subways next time.
