Nice to see other rig solutions for this product! We have also been using the nyrious for wireless directors monitor setups. Looking at the design It seems ours is an older model than yours, maybe ours isn't the pro. In the beginning we had some problems powering it, only certain cables would work and not all 5v outputs were able to keep it powered. We found that the USB on SmallHD monitors, with the right cable (we soldered our own), worked perfectly to power the receiver but onboard the camera we had to use a clunkier solution with the transmitter. A NPF battery plate with a 5v USB slot. Also we could not transmit the image from the Odyssey 7Q+s hdmi out for some reason, instead we used the FS700 own hdmi outport, which meant we couldnt transmit the 7Q+ playback wirelessly. This has also worked nicely for focus pulling, since the delay is so small.

I purchased this Nyrius Aries Pro and made sure to get the 100ft range one, but I couldn't go 20 ft without losing signal. I did multiple device tests and they all were terrible. I really wish this thing worked, I'm stunned how you got all the way upstairs.

Absolutely love this. I've looked at teradeks and paralinks and even their cheap models are way out of my price range. Think something like this can have a lot of benefit for 2nd AC'S. one of the bigger jobs I was on, the feed to video village was running out of the focus pullers monitor, being able to ditch that, or any other bnc would be a huge bonus. 100% keeping this setup in mind for the future

ha! I just made this exact rig basically about a month or two ago. I love it. One problem i'm finding though, the pro 'receiver box' is really finicky with which hdmi cable you use. thanks for the video caleb!

Nice! Hmm. I must have gotten lucky with my HDMI cable.
@SullyCortez7 жыл бұрын
Yea maybe it's because I have the actual 'pro' version. This particular version according to Nyrius is their new 'pro version' but its' for in home pro use. There is a more expensive longer range supposedly better transmitting unit (NPZ550 I believe) that is made for outdoor use. When I asked Nyrius was there a huge difference in specs between the two models they said not really other than distance slightly and the shape of the units themselves.
@SullyCortez7 жыл бұрын
the 'pro' version has 0 latency.... i mean like none. you can pull focus off it.... this new 'pro home' edition appears to have significantly longer latency than the 'pro' version the $500 version.
@kenrhem6 жыл бұрын
When i go to their website, it mentions the "prime" (NPCS549) which they advertise as having shorter range (makes sense) and zero latency. Is that the one you're talking about?

Love your videos. It's nice that you found a different video making niche compared to the other channels I follow. 4:40 *Bag o' zip ties* Bag of zip ties, bag of random size rubber bands, bag of Velcro wire tie wraps, box of various sized 1/4 / 20 bolts and nuts, bag of double sided sticky tape, box of various A clamps ... :) 7:44 CUTE BABY!!!! 10:14 *WHY?* How useful would this be if you connected it to a capture system to get backup footage? So you are recording to your cameras internal memory (CFCard, SD Card, CFast ... whatever) and you have this thing connected to a PC capture card or a dedicated HDMI recorder (cheap gaming one or a Atomos Ninja or something)? I know you have all the interface overlay showing up but on canon (at least) using magic lantern you can disable all that if you really needed to. I'm not sure if this would be useful or even practical, just kind of bouncing ideas off the wall. I'm sure the transmitter does some crappy encoding and compression to get good data transfer speeds so not sure the end footage would be very useful. Thoughts?
@dslrvideoshooter7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Eric! Honestly, using this unit for capture might just work. It has a small latency (a few milliseconds) but it never lags further and stays consistent... Audio also is linked perfectly with video so it would probably work! I have no idea how grade-able the footage would be or how much they compress the stream. But for gamers, it would probably be totally fine.
@robertruffo21345 жыл бұрын
The lag is from your Camera's HDMI output and your monitor. Nyrius Pro itself has no perceptible lag.

got this exact kit. Aries Pro, full hd monitor, Anker powerbanks. But transmission isn't very good. Transmitter and receiver can be couple feet apart, and if person with receiver turns back against transmitter, signal dies. Distance can go to about 25feet if transmitter and receiver is pointed at each other but not even that long if its just used in a room with chairs and stuff blocking monitor
@carlosbradley24515 жыл бұрын
I mimicked this setup but I upgraded the antenna on the Nyrius. Really quick simple and easy and it intensified my signal... I can go through walls (if of course it doesn't have concrete)...I really recommend upgrading the antenna on the Nyrius for further distance. Remember you have to also manage the signals around you. A lot of things use the 2.4 GHz so if you can limit some devices in your home it will help too.

But if your camera is doing a lot of movement like a foot chase scene you can't show the director a live feed wired. Let's say your short film has a foot chase scene. your director needs to be able to see what the camera is capturing. That's when a wireless system like this comes in handy. Before this, a wireless monitor system was ridiculously expensive (thousands). So if you have a camera doing a lot of movement a wireless monitor for your DP and focus puller is a must. If you are shooting some talking head interviews then a wireless system isn;t that important. :)

Hi Mate! Love this setup. Think you can help me out?! I run a church video team, We're not huge like all the big churches so we need to cut corners when it comes to our budget. We already own a Nyrius Ares Pro transmitter. We use it like this: Camcorder is inside the church, we then transmit about 70ft to the receiver. The receiver outputs HDMI, right? So we convert it to SDI and run it about 200 feet to the video room. Now, Here's were i need your help. Im thinking about getting a G7, GH2, or GH3 to do the following: Run it in 1080i @ 29.97 fps, and send that clean image to the receiver, then convert it to SDI and then run it to our video room. The video room has an ATEM Swithcer (1080i) which we mix with, and send a final output to the streaming computer with Wirecast. We want to do something more cinematic and of higher quality. Do you think it's possible to do this? We need the camera to be on, and sending a clean HDMI signal, for about an hour. I know M43 cameras can run for a while without overheating. So there lies my dilemma. Which Camera do you recommend?

I have this setup also. If you were contacted by Nyrius themselves, can you suggest them to have a dedicated product for us filmmakers? I mean an internal battery for the transmitter would help reduce cable clutter. Plus a mounting option. 😁 I wish DJI would come up with a similar product too.
@dslrvideoshooter7 жыл бұрын
I hear ya! Nyrius actually markets this unit as a filmmaker solution: www.nyrius.com/wireless-hdmi/aries-pro-wireless-hdmi-transmitter-receiver (bottom of page). My guess is they want to keep costs down and offer a single product for several situations. Adding a battery would bring R+D costs up a lot I'm sure. That said, would probably be affordable for them to develop a thin battery that snaps/locks onto the transmitter and receiver.

This is great, Caleb! Quick question - is it possible for this unit to send a signal to 2 receivers, or is that not possible? Say I buy 2 of these units. Would one transmitter technically transmit the same signal to two receivers, so we have 2 field monitors? The idea is to mount the TX to a camera on a gimbal, then send 1 signal to the operator rig, and the other to a director's field monitor. Is this a stretch in your opinion?
@KenTanis7 жыл бұрын
In the name of science, I'm curious about this system vs monitoring via the wifi app on your GH4 - which will have more range? Which will have less lag? To make things crazier yet, the product description says the HDMI is "uncompressed". Would it play nice with a 10-bit signal and an external recorder? Plugging the receiver into an HDMI capture card and from there running some software like OBS to record or stream opens up some really wild possibilities. Cool build! EDIT: I see you've already discussed this with some other commenters.

Thanks for this presentation. Had an issue recently with my set-up: camera , Sony FDR-AX700, monitor, FEELWORLD F5PRO; and this transmitter, powered by an Anker 10000.mAh. Receiver was approx 75ft away elevated with good line of sight in an open sanctuary. Transmitter would not "send" signal when connected to output of the monitor and had to be connected directly to the camera. Then it struggled to stay connected to the receiver. Your thoughts on the possible cause of my issue?

Thanks for the review. Clears up a lot of question I had about this system. I have need for two receivers system with one transmitter, One would be the director/producers the other would be for audio mixer. I guess i could hook up two transmitters with a little splitter but trying to avoid extra gear. Have you tested such. if I buy two systems. If one transmitter can work with two receiver and receive the same output. Wondering if the wireless is open or if they are locked into one transmitter and the receiver it came with.

My worry is that the a7sii will be bogged down and unable to handle that much draw.

Hey I was wondering if you could suggest a camera for me. I am looking for a camera that I can vlog with AND do videos like you do where you are indoor and the camera is set in one place. I am also a beginning videographer , so nothing to fancy. My budget is anywhere from 1000$ and bellow ( you can suggest a camera that is slightly higher than 1000$ USD). I don't need 4k either, 1080p is just fine. Thanks so much!

I would suggest checking out the new Panasonic G85. I should have a review and guide out for it soon. Great camera! Also, you should consider shooting in 4k and downscaling... More on that in my upcoming guide as well.

Hello! Thank's for advise! I'm going to shoot a short movie in nature and need some additional information. Is this thing transmit signal if I shoot in 4k? I mean, transmitter will be pluged in operator's monitor (lilliput 4k) and receiver to director's monitor (also lilliput 4k) Sorry for poor English, i'm from Russia.
