This young man doesn't drink alcohol as a Muslim, and I highly doubt that there are bars or pubs in any province in Afghanistan (not counting bootlegging shops and underground taverns). So glass cup designs are limited to the function they serve, which is to serve refreshments and (generally) outlast blasts and falls. Plus, I highly doubt that fine cutlery, dinnerware and glasses are what mountain and country men concern themselves with when at war for twenty years. It changes your perspective. The fact that so many women flee their countries to go live in Western societies is also and indicator that non-Western societies have some serious issues on threating women. I am not saying that the West is perfect when it comes to women affairs, just that generally woman prefer Western countries.
