@@Grandwigg This is one of the things I like a lot about Nick's videos. He doesn't show a polished version of his projects. He shows how it goes, and how it doesn't go. We can all learn from his mistakes, and not let our own mistakes (at least those that do this kind of work) get us down.

I’m so glad someone was able to reach out to you. I know the YT algorithms make being a content creator frustrating and super difficult sometimes… I always watch your videos all the way to the end! I was worried you seemed so down on yourself. I don’t know what goals you felt like you weren’t hitting, but I hope you keep making stuff because YOU love it. Your joy in what you do is the main reason people keep coming back, no doubt. Screw the algorithm, you do what makes you happy. If being over the top isn’t what you feel like, don’t do it! Just be you and be happy in what you do. Sorry for the waffle of my own there 😂 I loved both of these bowls!! It’s crazy, it’s really hard to pick, they’re both so cool in their own ways. I honestly would be proud to have the pair on display myself. Love it. Keep making things you love and keep experimenting! Can’t wait to come to makers central one day myself. Yeah. I had the same thought! Spin it with some epoxy coating like you would do a tumbler! I really think that first one just “fizzed” because he didn’t use a pressure pot. Since it was fabric, it made the bubbles really small and so they got trapped instead of rising and off-gassing.

The first one I can see with a water-tight liner as a decorative container for a potted plant. The blue/white would really blend well with the green of a variegated spider plant. I would bet the reaction to the first blank was due to the residual laundry soap in the jeans. It appears that the pressure pot was enough to ged rid of the extra bubbles, but you could also wash the jeans in a clear water cycle as well. Despite that, the first blank turned out great! One question: With it being so porous, did you consider either stabilizing it or giving it an extra coat? Just curious.
@ready2learn873 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly what I thought - either detergent or softener was still in the material and it bubbled as it got wet, heated, and set.

That's what I thought as well. It looked so much like suds from a washing machine and no matter how well you spin the water out a little soap often stays in the material. On the other side, it did look kind of cool because of the reaction. It was visually interesting like an abstract painting can be.

Maybe a waste block putting compression on the denim, plus the pressure pot, would have helped the larger blank. Also, I would try having something like a seam, or a rolled section here and there to create ripples on the layers above. With some compression it should still have good adhesion between layers, and create some additional patterns.
