Why do these guys come off that engine ready to fight fire. Their mask should be on their face when they come off that truck. Then all you do is grab your line plug the air into the mask and go in. This standing in the yard getting the mask on while people die is ridiculous! Oh and yes I'm a retired firefighter/paramedic.

Or you can just clip your regulator into your mask and hook your mask to your pack until it's time to use it. Masking up enroute is a good way to get tunnel vision. Bad idea IMO.

What a bloody shambles. These guys need some months of intensive training before they can call themselves firefighters. For starters, get yourself ready ie SCBA BEFORE you reach the fire scene and don't stand around looking stupid while the house burns down and people die

That's a heck of a lot of smoke! I wonder what the fire load is because the house itself doesn't look particularly big. So sorry for the loss.

Different crews do different jobs. Nice to see a good turnout for each team. With the amount of smoke that fire produced, I would think they unfortunately had passed before the firemen even arrived. IMHO

Why were the firefighters just standing there when it looked like the fire started to blaze again the firefighters were just standing there watching it burn!!!

If you have crews doing fire attack inside the house you can not attack from the exterior as you can push the fire back into your crews. The 3 guys standing around were most likely assigned rapid intervention team/rapid intervention crew/rapid intervention dispatch (RIT/RIC/RID). Their job is to stand ready just in case there is an issue and are dedicated solely to the search and rescue of other firefighters in distress.

@@bobbijoannawilson3473 a Dept. that usually loses the house. As witnessed, there was little water going on the fire, standing there, appeared to be no aggressive attack. Now, they might have been in doing a primary, not sure.
