I thought it was Progesterone that made the muscle relaxed?

Lily!! You're correct - I just realized I misspoke - thank you for pointing this out. Though the complete picture of GERD in pregnancy is multifactorial, PROGESTERONE is the main smooth muscle relaxant and most likely major contributor here. Pinning this for clarification!

My friend was born around 3-4 months early, and oh man I’ll never forget her mom showing us pictures of her in a diaper which was SO BIG on her but the smallest they had… then her mom showing us the actual size of the diaper and how it was smaller than my palm.. meaning my friend couldn’t have been longer than like… a hand. ❤❤ your son is a sweetie! Congratulations! Pregnancy can be a scary time. SCH are definitely scary. I read about mine on the u/s report and the doctor never went over it with us at the initial appointment . Asked for clarification and didn’t get anything other than monitor for bleeding….. ended up in the ER for bleeding. Then the second appointment we just had told me “SCH are not a big deal” , how I didn’t call and I did and corrected her that I was on hold because it was 9:30 pm, and then tried to pass the buck to the ER doctor not calling the on call OB. No ma’am. You let my husband and I down by not going over anything and what to expect, when it is serious to give us peace of mind on what to do. Needless to say changing doctors!

I'm sure that they did imaging and an EKG. They don't usually just send you home with nothing. I have GERD, asthma, and panic attacks, so I get bad chest pain. Sometimes it's bad enough to go to the ER. I've never been sent home without at least an EKG and imaging. It did take 3 trips to finally get the asthma diagnosed though (despite having O2 being super low and being put on supplemental oxygen), so hospitals definitely aren't perfect, especially when you have mental health issues and get dismissed, but they usually take chest pain pretty seriously even if it turns out to be heartburn. Where I live, it's mandatory to do those tests at the very least

This one had me in tears! I gave birth via emergency c-section 2 months early to a tiny baby boy who by some miracle only needed a feeding tube & a bit of air (his lungs were fully developed). He also pulled his feeding tube out about a month before he was scheduled to come home from the NICU. It turned out he didn't need it anymore, and we got to bring him home on Christmas Eve.

I’m a premature baby myself actually, was almost 2 months early but considering I was a triplet in a high risk pregnancy it was bound to happen, was supposed to be born on Christmas Day but life had other plans, we stayed in the NICU for around a month and we also got to come home on Christmas Eve, parents always say it was the best thing they could’ve wanted that year

I was premature too. My moms water broke at almost 29 weeks and she spent a week at the hospital. They were able to delay the labor for an entire week which allowed my lungs to develop My mom said she had to drink a lot of water. Anyways I was born at 30 weeks and I also was pretty healthy. I didn’t pull the tube because I wasn’t strong enough at that point lol. I had to be in the NICU for 8 weeks because i was born under 3 pounds and was actually loosing weight at first And I got sick so I needed a blood transfusion But When I was 5 pounds I got to come home

When I was pregnant with my first child, I had intense morning sickness. I thought that if I sprayed some Bath and Body Works spray on me, it would calm my stomach (the scent was a fresh-smelling mango); however, the opposite happened. It not only made me rush to the toilet to puke, but that connection to the mango scent stuck around after I gave birth. I still get intense nausea when I smell it, and my child is 10. It's so weird how that works.

I feel like people who didn't have positive outcomes would likely not be able to or willing to share their stories on such a show. We're one of those families. I've had *two* stillbirths, and two surviving preemies - including a twin pregnancy with only one survivor. I belong to a lot of loss and complication communities - these issues aren't *that* rare, and losses are fairly *common* - especially early MC, but TV shows do NOT want to show those common negative outcomes. They want fantasies, or drama. TV shows LIE... or over emphasize minor issues and details, but ignore the important parts. If your only knowledge of puberty, fertility, sex, conception, development, pregnancy, pregnancy tests, complications, losses, antenatal care, labour, delivery, NICU, breastfeeding and recovery is *TV shows*... there's going to be some HUGE, harmful, misleading gaps ☹️ Most people do not want to know about complications or tragedies, but they still NEED to, so they are prepared themselves, can support others... and they can be grateful for happy outcomes. It's COMMON for people who had complications to be minimized, criticized, silenced, mocked and especially BLAMED by "friends" and "family" for their tragedy. Which is HORRIBLE. Many have invitations for family events like showers, christenings & weddings withdrawn. They end up excluded, as if their tragedy is "infectious". You hear a lot of "nobody wants to hear that", rather than simply support or listening. Even supposed "support" resources erase or refuse to "allow" losses and tragedies. Our church, for example, REFUSED to offer any support, no funeral, no burial, no prayers, no memorials, nothing. We and my surviving children were not offered somewhere to go to remember them. It's very hurtful. If you ARE mourning a loss, find a loss support group online. There are support resources, even if you are in a hospital. Talk to the nurses, they can be amazing advocates.

I mean, I remember after my cervical surgery with all the blood when a clot passed & no one told me about that being a thing. I was in college and when my roommate (like slept in the same room) were starting our day and threw back my covers and my entire mattress was covered in blood. I just ran cold & it took me a second to remember I had surgery a few days ago. I think my roommate thought I was dying... honestly, with that amount of blood, I did too.

OMG preach it, sis! After my cone biopsy I was chilling at home in my sweats and I coughed when suddenly I felt..something...exit my vagina. I was NOT prepared for what appeared to be a bloody piece of raw chicken skin in my underwear. Turns out it was just scar tissue but it would have been nice to have had a head's up. I literally put it in a ziploc bag, made an appointment for the following day, and confronted my (male, old) GYN like "Uh, excuse me WTF is this please?" 🤣

@@carag2567 Yes! Mine was also a CCB! I had a LEEP done but still got abnormal results after so they took like ⅓ of my cervix. (No abnormalities since *knock on wood* hopefully 2021 didn't hear me and it keeps going well😬) I saw a big bloody square in my underwear when I got to the bathroom & felt more drop. I didn't have anything to collect it in, so I just took pictures and videos. I was thinking maybe it was a surgical gauze pad, it was about 1in×2in so it would've made sense but nope. Just a giant clot. Sorry if all this is TMI lol but it's cathartic to share my experience with another person who gets what I'm taking about lol

I was aware of being pregnant rather early, and my children were active enough before birth that my husband didn’t like me to cuddle behind him as we went to sleep, because they were kicking him in the back. However, A relative by marriage learned she was pregnant about the same time I learned I was pregnant with my oldest. My understanding is that she had had irregular periods from the get-go. Also, she had been (reportedly) sexually active since about age 13. (Primarily? Exclusively? With her now husband) She had been told that she would probably never conceive naturally. As I said, we found out about our pregnancies at about the same time, yet her baby was born in September, and mine was born 12 weeks later in December. So she would have been roughly 20 weeks when she found out. I know of another woman (the niece of a friend) who had been told by doctors that even with assistive reproductive technology, she and her husband would likely never have a biological child, as both had fertility issues. It wasn’t until after she had lost both her mother and her husband to cancer, that she confided in my friend (an RN) that she thought she had cancer too. Feeling bloated. Food aversions. Couldn’t eat much at any one time. Shortness of breath. Couldn’t get comfortable etc. Turns out, she was about 8 months pregnant when she confided in my friend. I can’t remember if the baby was born on his mother’s birthday or his father’s 🤔🤷🏼

The part of the partner being sick with blood reminded me of when I was five, I had an accident by the swings in the park. My dad was the first one to rescue me and he took me to my mom. As soon as he handed me to my mom he passed out for the amount of blood (the swing landed right in the middle of my forehead and obviously opened it up so you can imagine the amount of blood). And like father like daughter, I'm also super coward with blood. Once I was cleaning up some stitches and noticed one was bleeding, finished up and then went straight to bed asking my parents to call the doctor and ask what was going on while I recovered strength because I was gonna pass out.

I had a really hard time getting pregnant due to polycystic ovary disease that necessitated removal of one ovary. We had our son and were so happy. When he was about 16 months old I started having a lot of reflux issues. I hadn’t had a period while I was breast feeding and then once he wanted at about 1 yr I still didn’t have periods. We didn’t use any birth control because we wanted more kids but I didn’t really think about the reflux in terms of pregnancy. I went to the doc and he said that he thought I should have an upper GI series since this might be gallstones or something. As I sat there listening to him I thought, you know, I might be pregnant. I should check that before I do anything else. So I went home, took a pregnancy test and yes, I was pregnant. I made an appointment with my OBGYN and then called my neighbor over to have some tea and tell her the good news. As I was making the tea a sudden gush of blood poured out of me onto the floor. I called my friend and she rushed in. You’re having a miscarriage she said. I’ll call your husband to take you to the hospital and watch your baby. She couldn’t take me because she had kids about to come home from school. My husband came from work and took me to the clinic where my OBGYN met me and they did an ultrasound. 17:30 He told me that yes, this was a miscarriage and the fetus hadn’t been expelled but had no heartbeat. They had to do a D&C before things turned septic and also to stop the bleeding. What would have happened to me if I were in Texas or Florida or some other crazy state where abortion is illegal?

My niece Kelsie was born at 24 weeks. She fit in the palm of my brother in law's hand. Her whole body was covered in soft fuzzy hair. She weighed two pounds but went down below that for a few days after she was born. The doctors told my sister she would most likely have developmental delays both physically and mentally. Kelsie played sports all through school, basketball, softball, she got straight A's and she just graduated from OSU with a degree in psychology.
