Obi-wan Kenobi has Problems (Here's mine)

So, the Obi-wan Kenobi show has A LOT of problems and most people have already gone through most. The worst for me was Bail Organa.

I wish the show was about why Obi Wan was not able to commune with Qui Gon yet. What did he have to overcome to get there? Instead they throw it away with a throw away line about just not being ready to yet... I enjoyed parts of the show but it disappointed me overall because it didn't tell the story I was hoping it would. Also, having so many characters in this show who now know about Obi Wan seems stupid when his mission is to lay low.

I hear the original script focused on Obi-wan's guilt a lot more and they contrasted it with Commander Cody who found Obi-wan and was also dealing with his own order 66 guilt. As a Cody fan, I feel robbed.

I had some really promising feelings around episode one with the focus on Obi-wan's mental state and I thought it had the chance to be a really clever exploration of trauma and how Obi-wan recovers from Revenge of the Sith and becomes the serene old warrior we meet in A New Hope. Because I do think that was a character progression gap that could be filled. How does someone go through so much, lose everything and get to a place of peace? That is a valuable story and they just didn't tell it. It's just another, cute child gives broken warrior hope again. Now don't get me wrong I like those stories Mandalorian (love it) Logan (awesome) but please, please think of a different way to give your heroes hope. It's getting old. I am annoyed at this show mostly because of all the lost potential for clever and subtle character exploration.

I think it's really interesting though to get into it I would have to get into the dichotomy between prequels/Hayden anakin and the clone wars show anakin. I might get into that some day though 🤔

I agree, this was a poor show. Directing, story, even the music seemed "off" somehow. (and has anyone else noticed how the Disney+ lightsabres look like cheap glowsticks?) Other than Ewan's performance I found this show to be absolute dogshit.

I think Hayden's performance was pretty good as well. He really nailed merging his performance with Clone Wars era anakin from the show in the flashback. Not to mention his final conversation with Obi-wan and that creepy smile :) Other than that the most I can do is shrug.

You nailed Bail!!!! . . . really every character in this show actually. I am angry. SW was beloved for me. It still is. I can always watch ep 4, 5, 6, Rogue one, pop on my computer for Empire at War, or even pull out the X-Wing novels. It filled my over active imagination and was my #1 ip since I can remember. Since Disney has acquired SW it has disrespected it, defecated on it, and all while they have ham fisted their new characters forward who I don't care about because they are empty shells. All while promoting a gender to the force and woke politics. I refuse to give Disney another penny after they literally doubled down on being pro-pedophilia. I know there are people fighting for SW within Disney bet "E" F'in Nuff. . .just stop. Is this "hate"? I dont know but pedophilia, normalization of pedophilia, must be prevented and it is time to call a spade a spade

Sorry, I replied to your reply before I saw this comment. :) As for the disrespect towards characters I can only relate on a theoretical level as I have no nostaligic connection for the original series. But I do understand as I just saw a Joblo Movies video about the Constantine movie, saying that it works and captures Hellblazer. And no disrespect to the man himself or the people who made that movie but I irrationally felt momentary RAGE at hearing that. If you've been watching my content for a while you'll have an idea of how big a John Constantine fan I am. I find I try my best not to let it bother me but I get it. Also, what is all this pro pedophilia thing you mentioned?

Reva is a terrible character in this series. Lucasflm basically forced us to like and sympathize with her, when she is an iredeemable, bloodthirsty psychopath, and if we have genuine complaints, they'll just call us racist or mysogonist. As for Obi Wan, I, and a lot of fans are mad, because at the end of Revenge of the Sith, it was alluded that Obi Wan would start training with Qui Gon's ghost in order to ascend after he died... But instead, he stops using the force for a decade and works as a fish monger, and then at the end of the series.... he starts training with Qui Gon's ghost. So...what he SHOULD have been doing right after Revenge of the Sith.

I think the concept of Reva i.e. a youngling who survived order 66 and wants revenge was fine but the execution of it was not only sloppy but she took over so much time that should have been dedicated to Obi-wan and his struggles. I think right now writers don't really know how to do breakout stars/characters. introduce them in a secondary capacity. Then once the audience get to know them you can decide if they like them enough to do more with them. It might have worked in a movie trilogy, start her off as just Vadar's henchman with one or two subtle little clues she may be up to something in the first movie. Then in the second dedicate a bit more time to her maybe revealing her true nature at the end of the movie. Then if they needed to go down the redemption route then that in the third movie. I think people can stomach bad characters sometimes but what they really hate are intrusive characters.

I say something weird. I can't watch your video, I have a mental barrier against it. I enjoyed the show and I want to keep it just at it. In today's loud internet world everything is overly criticized. Not always a bad thing imo(many times it isn't) but it has its unnecessary to mention downsides. It's especially true with star wars. No matter the quality of a star wars product they always be bad to a loud crowd. To this day I still ban videos sometimes whole channels because I can't handle the hate for the franchise anymore except when it comes to Dave Filoni's stuff a creator's approach I despise. Quality of a fictional story made for entertainment is mostly subjective anyway. A statement now I'm afraid to say on the internet because I was put in my place for it "I'm afraid of facts so I'm willfully ignorant instead" you know. My pre Last Jedi self was most of the time excited to listen to people with different opinions to mine and talk with them. In 2018 that part of my humanity died, if it comes to star wars products it definitely is. So the weird thing I try to say is I had no problem watching your 2.4 hours take on the jedi I knew even before I'm going to disagree with a lot but I'm struggling to click the play on this video, I think I actually gave up at this point. The reason I open up about this here is this channel is one of the very few places on the internet I somewhat feel comfortable talking about star wars altough I plan to not do that too often maybe even for the last time. I made star wars a taboo topic among my friends, people I know for about 20 years by now. Anyone who read this I hope you don't find me some weak minded, self-pitying person but I understand if you do.

The most important thing first is, I don't think it is self-pitying or weak minded to recognise that something is not good for you and stay away from it. Most of what you said is pretty identical to what a friend of mine said to me. She doesn't ever talk to anyone online anymore because the slightest decent brought hell down on her. My response to that was, "The benefit of the doubt doesn't exist anymore. People are so eager to think the worst of what you say and your intentions for saying .it." I actually said in this video and in my latest Thor one that I don't actually like being negative. To try and mitigate this I tend to script my stuff as if I'm scolding a character or a concept rather than anymore behind it. This is also why I spend so long setting up the video with my intentions so people know what they are getting into. And I know I fail sometimes especially due to my natural mannerisms. But we could at least try to make discourse a little less toxic. Thanks for commenting as always and I think its a good idea to stay away from things you know will upset you.

Right now I think you said she once dared to say something a little positive about something than she got bombed with hate and it made her not to talk online anymore. Is it correct? I'm so far from sure. Now to make fun of you. "I don't actually like being negative" but you channel's name is Why It Doesn't Work! For Me and the first big project on the channel was making video about every single DCAMU movie. Are you sure you thought this whole youtube thing through completely?
