This mini-series turned out really well. Big shoutouts to glank, lead developer of gz (the Ocarina of Time practice rom). Without gz's free cam feature, Bismuth wouldn't have been able to get a lot of these cool in-game shots. Really liked the visualization stuff at 11:08 and 18:28 Also really glad I pushed to get that buffer overflow glitch in at 19:39 at the last minute, because rainbow crashes are cool. Note that an invalid room id doesn't always result in this rainbow crash; I'm not sure what causes it to happen in some cases but not others, but I have a general idea.
@Bismuth94 жыл бұрын
Huge shoutouts to glank indeed, gz is an incredible tool that I got pretty good at using towards the end of the video making process. But mostly, huge thanks to you, without whom the entire video is me saying "for some reason, [wildly inaccurate statement]"

I really love the fact that one of my absolute favorite childhood games (I grew up with the GC version tho) has become an area of scientific study for the sake of speedrunning and just general fun, with a whole community built around it! I'm not being sarcastic or anything, seriously, it's inspiring!

Great videos. I'd look into the pacing more. It happens quite frequently that the talking itself is paced ok, but there's a lot of information appearing on the screen at the same time, and often the voice and text aren't the same information. Basically meaning that you repeatedly pause or rewind the video because you try to read what information is presented, but also listen to the explanation. In best cases there is a video, voice and multiple pointers appearing on the screen, as well as tables with lots of text. I like how detailed these are, but I feel like the visual presentation could be either simplified or the pace of commentary could have pauses that also work as effective emphasizing of the said thing, as well as give time to digest the visual representation.
@Bismuth93 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the feedback, though some of this is by design. It's expected of the viewer to pause some sections to read everything if they want.

I've been wondering, do glitches like this work on the Gamecube version? Y'know, the OoT + Master Quest version. I know that the way it runs the game is actually through emulation, and that the emulator being used was the basis for the VC version, so I thought it would either not work, or function the same way as the VC release.

Does this explain the ACE Wrong Warp as well? Arbitrary Code Execution
@mzxrules4 жыл бұрын
depends, because with ACE you can defy a lot of the rules. For example, there's been a bit of research being done on warping to entrance indices that go beyond the entrance table, and the found an index that happens to line up to a variable that temporarily stores Link's rotation for a calculation
@syrelian4 жыл бұрын
This does not, the ACE was discovered after the video was planned and created
