Cute Baby Seal Won't leave His Rescuers!

Two more seal rescues at Pelican Point, Namibia, by Antoine and Naude from Ocean Conservation Namibia (OCN):
Seal 1 had a thin piece of nylon string wrapped around it's neck. It caused a deep painful cut. The salt water will help with the healing process, the cut looked clean and not infected. We are very sure he will make a full recovery.
Seal 2 was a small male baby seal caught in something similar to cling wrap or shrink wrap. It had not cut into his skin yet, we found him on time before he would get hurt any further. He was caught with our custom build seal catching net, and he seemed to like it a lot, he did not make any attempt at all to get out! Naude and Antoine even helped him to get both his flippers out, and gave him a little push from behind, but he was so chilled, he could not be bothered.
Eventually he decided to join her friends, and he ran back to the colony.
Most of our rescues are very serious and difficult to deal with, we appreciate it when we have a cute and uncomplicated rescue like this one in between. 🦭

Good point. That voice is one all babies respond to, even ours. The higher pitch and lilting quality make it easier for babies to learn & understand communication. If you listen to more of these, you'll hear that just as woth humans, and all kinds of other animals, the babies have much higher pitched voices.

Most of that plastic trash that end up in the oceans come from south asian countries such as India or Indonesia. You can go green all you want in the west and keep self blaming but even if western countries banned all plastics overnight it wouldn"t change anything because of all the poor overpopulated underdevelopped countries that have no green legislations or structures to handle the trash

I can't stop watching this one. I'm so sad 😞 with the first rescue. Then the second pup I'm so happy and just love soooo much the way he lies there without a care in the world loving his back rub. No, the best feeling is when they are free, with no wounds, with no plastic problems like this, with a good and clean environment to live in the old real Nature before humans destroyed everything...this is extremely sad, I almost cried watching this :( If those guys were not working to save them, well.... There are rumors amongst the seals of creatures that look and seem like monsters, but are truly angels. If you are lucky enough, the angels grab and bag you. They hold your nose and body down. It’s so scary and it hurts, sometimes a lot, and we cry and struggle to break free. Eventually we do break free and soon realize we can breathe and swallow. By then the angels are gone. Some pups never see the monsters, only the angels and they hang around for a bit with their new friends.

It's a matter of tensile strength and growing around it I guess. A simple 3 millimeter string and a tight knot can cut down a tree given enough time

Its more on the level of scrape then deep cut. The fur realy messes with the look. Still. That stuff can get infected, especially in the ocean. And serious infections are very deadly without antibiotics. So its actually quite important they dont get constant open wounds. Which that nilon string was causing.

@@goldenjebboni1331 i think he mean its incredibly terrifying for the seals bc anything in the wild that charges at you is 9/10 times a predator and when everyone's running around you, you tend to follow and run aswell. So id imagine if you are the one out of the 100s of seals who gets grabbed by this unknown creature thinking your about to become dinner, then it would be extremely terrifying lol.
