Birds did very good trapping Mike, nice to see!! Love the colors on the first 2 that clocked for you. Best of luck placing good on the sheet, but most importantly is the returns right now. Like last year, they'll do better from here on out.

when mine used to go past, i started singling them up on training tosses to make them think for themselves and stop following the flock, it worked they started coming from the right direction, and finished and trapped really well.

Thanks Henry, I definitely need to do more of that.

Single toss them every change you get. And not this one bird every couple minutes. 1 bird every 15-20 minutes, or pick a road and let a bird out every couple miles that way they’ll be miles and minutes away from each other. Should help tremendously.

@@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons It will definitely help, but don’t forget no matter what we do inevitably it’s up to the birds on race day. Pay close attention to the wind direction, it will often dictate your results.

That was the third race and I did receive two of them from a club member at basketing the following week 👍
@ausfuhrpramienjagar2 жыл бұрын
Yep, they'll do better when the distance increases. Too many birds in the main group at only 125 miles.. The longer the race, the more strung out they will get and your birds won't be following and will break for home much quicker..
@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons2 жыл бұрын
That sounds great to me, thanks for your comment 👍
@kevinnorton77592 жыл бұрын
HI MIKE, yes wind and drag have a lot to do with winning young bird races, that is why I preferred old bird racing. An old bird will break where a lot of young birds are follow my leader. I hope you fly them as old birds next year and watch the difference. Personally I would put 12 cocks on the widowhood if you haven't got a lot of time, just give them 6 tosses up to 30 miles before the first race, then all you have to do is let them out for exercise around the loft for the rest of the season, but make sure they don't see any other Pigeons. Alternatively you could use the hens if you think they are better, watch the results you will be surprised. Widowhood cuts the cost of petrol/gas and saves your tyres and engine. Try it out and see True racing is old bird racing and watch them come out of the sky, like lightning. It's up to you. Just a thought. 👍

Do you guys fly older birds or just young birds. Me and my dad let the Youngs out 3 at a time on the training toss. We do each toss twice and we try not to put the same three bids together on each toss. We are in the middle of the lofts in our club. 4 b4 us 3 behind us.
@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons2 жыл бұрын
Our club does fly both old and young but I have not tried old birds yet 2023 will be my first attempt. Best of luck with your racing my friend
@StratosLoft2 жыл бұрын
I had a crappy race also I’m the most southern loft on the combine if they fallow the flack they are 150 miles away so is a little hard for me to get good speeds if the wind it has and south in to it any north wind they all come down to my loft . Your numbers are a little low most likely they when with the flack.
@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons2 жыл бұрын
It’s tough for them in the beginning for sure. I think they are learning well now. I hope yours start doing very well for you ✌️
