This totally happened to me when I was in middle school. One of my friends got mad at me b/c a guy she REALLY liked had a crush on me. So she stopped talking to me--I didn't even KNOW he liked me until months later. Her jealously basically ended our friendship over something so lame--but at least I found out she was a crappy friend to begin with. Middle school/high school can be super brutal though. Just like this movie, your life can change literally overnight.

Similar situation here. By best friend of 6 years went away over seas for a year and when she came back (the beginning of middle school) she decided she wanted to be in the popular crowd and completely cut me out of her life because she didn’t like staying friends with me would get her there. Now, 16 years later, we still haven’t spoken since because of something so stupid she did when she was 12.

I am re-watching this and seeing some clips on Tiktok. I think the problem with Nikki lies in the fact she probably has parents who constantly ignore her and give the same attention to her siblings. Meanwhile, she probably sees Vanessa getting attention reminds her of how her siblings are treated. Therefore, it's triggering. So she took her anger out on Nessa by abusing her emotionally.

this is a rlly common misconception about stacey. she really did like vanessa, the movie was trying to show peer pressure as well as the exclusion of girls. people here are just thinking that shes lying all the time but when they talk one on one except for the thing about the "i thought you were mad" part she was pretty honest..you can see it in her face. she was just pressured to sell her out and be mean, and its showing that that gets you nowhere

Walking out of the store, it looked like only Stacy and Vanessa had merchandise while Nikki didn't get anything as she isn't carrying anything other than her purse. Perhaps that was why Nikki got jealous because Stacy got something for Vanessa but not for her.

In my former school, there was a boy who bullied everybody, he kept bullying people during a whole year, but in the new year of class, someone just got tired of it, and simply went to talk to the principal about him... The principal simply called the bully in his office... and that bully totally STOPPED bullying everybody! I mean... it was so easy.

Well, later on it was actually Nikki who brought up the fact that Vanessa shoplifted. At this point at the mall, early in the movie, Vanessa wasn't really teased just yet. Perhaps it was Nikki who coerced Stacy into asking Vanessa to shoplift the item. Stacy agreed to pull that prank on Vanessa with Nikki.
