Awesome land!!! I'm guessing the low property tax is because the land excluding the camp lot is all in tree growth? We own 150 acres in Wiscasset and only pay $1,200 a year in property tax. There's quite a penalty for removal of land from tree growth. We were told by the town a couple years back that there would be a 10K penalty to remove 5 acres from the tree growth program for a homesite.

So, technically clearing trees to build a bigger home might impose a fine or is that something we would need to discuss with the conservation department? I’m aware taxes would go up with clearing to build a “home” but clearing land that is under federal control is new to mean and seems troubling
@philmcphail222814 күн бұрын
This property is not under federal control. Part of it is in the tree growth current use tax program which keeps the taxes more as long as it is growing trees. 40 acres where the cabin is and higher up the hill is not in the program.
