its really nice to see the Warriors franchise seeming to FINALLY realize "oh hey these people dont want realistic cats" after literal years of the fandom making stylized cartoon and anime cats. like for so long they seemed to stick SO HARD to the at least semi-realism thing. even in the vinyls they seem really resistant to cut down on detail. the graphic novels and these plushes feel like theyre finally going "oh people REALLY like these lil guys"

my hope is that they actually hired somebody that knows what sort of merch the fandom does. the disparity between the official merch and fan-made merch was huge, making all of the official merch look bad in comparison. i have never been interested in buying official merch because they don't look good, but now i'm reconsidering. those are cute plushies and, if they keep this up and actually listen to the fans' wants for merch, then they might actually find more people actually want to buy that merch.

I kinda wonder if this less realistic, more personable and stylized approach they’ve been starting to take will have any effect on the warriors movie that’s *supposedly* in the works again. I have no idea what stage of production it’s in (but I’d guess it’s still in preproduction) and I have no idea what style they wanted to go for originally, but I hope them clearly realizing that the fandom likes stylization will have some influence on the art style the movie uses.

Okay, on the fabric quality of Firestar being worse than Scourge's: So I'm a plush maker and collector. Printed fabric is almost ALWAYS less soft than nonprinted. See Squishmallows for example: the ones with solely embroidered and/or applique details feel soft no matter how you pet them, but the printed ones feel weird and jarring the pet against the grain. This is just something that happens with printed fabric, which is why I always prefer applique and embroidery, but I'm assuming they're not gonna do that because printing is easier/cheaper to do huge batches of

SO happy they’re making these!! It’s insane they haven’t done that sooner. They finally realized they don’t have to make them realistic.. after decades of fans making cute fanart and very cartoony animated cats that aren’t usually realistic. I do think DirtyNoodles plushies helped. I say this sitting next to my Shadowsight plush I spent $50 on and love so much. Wish I had Squilf DirtyNoodles plushie. I also SO want Dovewing and Squirrelflight of the new ones omg. And Jayfeather. They’re my favorites. I see a bright warrior cats shop future of cuteness given these dropping and the new graphic novel. How much do y’all predict they’ll cost? Only thing I’d say is like you said on the Firestar mouth embroidery.. and I always prefer Scourge w a purple collar (but they’ve always done varying collars, so not surprising) and I wish they gave him at least one scar? I haven't read warriors in forever, so I forgot there even was merch, but these guys look adorable. I definitely prefer this style over the others, even if some of the minis look cool to me. I could easily see these becoming the most popular merch and becoming an endless wave thing, which would be great. This style is perfect for the wave format and the series, I love seeing the characters portrayed as cute little kitties as opposed to photorealistic ones.

i want to say the muzzle is outlined because it’s a different colour of fabric, you can’t put two different colours of fabric together that lay flat without really having a line like that, and embroidering over the seam makes it sturdier. to change the way it looks they’d either have to print the lighter muzzle colour on top, or make it so the pattern isn’t just a circle around the muzzle but actually extends down to the belly. :-P the texture of printed-on-fabric is less appealing (especially on softs) and also can eventually fade with frequent washing, which they’re probably trying to avoid with something targeted at children
