In this classic stand-up bit, comedian George Carlin uses the entirety of his comedic talents to tell the story of dogs, cats and the people who love them. He masterfully takes his spot-on obesrvations to the next level with voices and physical humor that is hilarious whether you're a pet lover or not.
Taped before a sold-out house at New York City´s Carnegie Hall, the performance represents a creative resurgence for Carlin, following a heart attack earlier that year. He ignites the stage with unique perceptions and his outrageous physical comedy, employing along the way his well-honed powers of mimicry.

George Carlin described his comedy as focusing on 3 things: love of language and how we use it; the small things, moments we all share as humans; and the big topics of our culture-war, death, children, religion, etc. A social commentator, he challenged conventional wisdom and brought us face-to-face with our ingrained hypocrisies. There was no topic off limits to his keen observation, wordplay, goofy jabs and rants, whether it was drugs, war, politics, the accumulation of stuff or the way in which we use words.

After all these years, I still find all these clips. And I love all the additions to them. I was fortunate to be able to see him live, and laugh my family off for 2 and 1/2 hours, turn my mouth with sore from laughing, and everything he says and talks about is the truth. This was my intro to stand up comedy when it came on HBO in 1983. I was 11 and instantly hooked, been a fan of stand up comedy ever since. My first job at 16 was even in a comedy club, cooking. It was great, I only made food the first hour or so, then got to sit and watch the comedians, my manager totally allowed me to. Carlin still keeps the top slot in my head. My favorite new are Josh Johnson (legend in the making), Zoltan, Geoffrey Asmus, Shayne Smith, and Dustin Nickerson. Josh will be counted among the greats with Carlin one day, he is amazing.

When it comes to understanding the meaning of life, George Carlin sits at the top of my list. Like George I was born in Manhattan grew up in Forest Hills Queens, and moved to Long Island. The education of life started at an early age and everything George touches upon. It’s a parallel to my existence at 76 years old. There is average awareness and perception, and George far exceeds either of those and it’s categorize with the great philosophers and comedians. his visual interpretations are exceptional, and he characterizes things so perfectly with his acting, satire and going for the jugular vein in politics. He is a scholar and a teacher, and if the terminology of being a genius is question by anyone, they need to watch closer to realizehe was an exceptional human being and a genius of understanding life. A fearless entertainer who like he said “a comedian’s job is to find the line not to cross and cross it”.

"he blocked out the sun!!". I swear, the first time I saw this, it brought back a childhood memory of seeing a Great Dane for the first time. I was probably 8 years old and someone was just walking their dog down my block. Me and my friends were transfixed. We'd NEVER seen one of these dogs in real life before. I ran into my house to tell my parents and they said "yeah, that's a great dane. That's the Scooby-Doo dog". My mind was blown.
