The real story here is that the entire medical staff, production crew, the agents and Tony Schiavone (who is said to be Khans right hand man) all told Jack no and he still felt empowered to go through with it anyway before punk intervened. That really says it all about the locker room culture and the vacuum of authority backstage. If he was doing a backstage pretape, he easily could've used fake sugar glass. His only reason for wanting to use real glass is so he can get street cred with the boys in the back as a real hardened bad ass and so people on Twitter will call him a hooper. So stupid.

I've watched the glass matches in ECW and Japan. These matches were great, but they weren't just randomly thrown together week to week. These were massive main event blowoffs that featured legends. AEW Collision hasn't even existed long enough for a glass match to even be in discussion at this point.

Because in kayfabe you can give them a piledriver and they can work a broken neck and that was you trying to end their career rather than slamming them on a broken window pain which will hurt sure but doesn’t actually do damage in an internal way such as knocking their wind out to exhaust them or jarring their brain. The difference between Collision and Dynamite has been amazing. The problem with Dynamite is when you do crazy stuff often, it loses its shock value and isn't special anymore. He's too big of a fan and a mark to be fully in charge of a wrestling show with people's safety at stake. Collision has been so much better than anything they're done before, as a whole. Stuff like MJF/Punk shined despite AEW being AEW, not in lieu of. That whole program and Tranquillo Club documentary on KZbin gave me goosebumps, it's the best modern wrestling story, and it's still unfinished. Hopefully Collision continues on as almost a pseudo new promotion, and let's the worst parts of Dynamite stay on Wednesday. I'm happy that it exists and that people like it, but please just let me have my tiny little corner on Saturday or DVR, and let it remind me of wrestling at its peak. Just because kayfabe is dead and we know it's scripted doesn't mean we want reminders of that every minute. Let us lose ourselves in the show for a bit.

One of my favorite broken glass spots in pro wrestling was when Bobby Roode turned heel on James Storm and used his own beer bottle on him and won the world title and it started off a great heel run. Later on, James Storm returned the favor. That was memorable. Goofy Jungleboy using glass, unless he got seriously injured or seriously injured a talent, would be forgotten in a week
