I like the idea of Brock being a Cody ally. When they do Reigns vs Cody again down the road, they can do the Bloodline interfering and outnumbering Cody until Brock makes the save and clears out the Bloodline leaving only Cody and Roman. It's also a nice little callback to when Brock was gonna tag with Cody vs the Bloodline and turned on him except now he helps him.

When Brock was selling that Kimura, I thought "wow, he actually looks like he might tap, he must really respect Cody to put him over this much" then when they did the hand shake I was shocked, that's a passing of the torch type moment right there. @@drexeldragon1723 It's not that I thought Cody would get counted out. It's that I like that they used the threat of the count out as a tool to tell part of the story in the match. They didn't just do the thing where they do one move, then the good guy rolls back into the ring at 9. Brock gave him some pain and left him out there to get counted. Cody makes it back in at like 6. Brock goes in on him some more and leaves him out to get counted. Cody makes it back in at 7. Brock throws him through a table and leaves him to get counted, yelling "stay down and stave yourself". And Cody makes it back in at 9. It kind of emphasized both characters' roles; Brock as the badass, and Cody as this unbreakable good guy. I think the reason Cody is so popular is because he goes against the current 'anti-hero' mentality; he's a straight-up, whitemeat babyface who shows class and honor even to the nastiest opponents. He doesn't cheat, doesn't use outside interference, doesn't cut people down in his promos. It's the same reason Superman is still the biggest-selling comic character of all time: People truly want a real hero to cheer for, a bright star in the sky. The dark, brooding badass may be the 'cool' thing, but it's played out now. It's boring. Bring back the straight-up white-hat heroes again, because that is what people want.

This was my favorite of the PLE. It's Brock's best match and I don't think he'll ever top it, which I think is the reason for Brock raising Cody's hand. They had the psychology to a tea and kept me on edge. They had valleys and peaks and the peaks were higher than the previous one.

When Brock puts his "I give a shit about this" boots on, the man is an all timer. He's legit, scary, talented in the fundamentals and knows how to get a response from a crowd. He can even be goofy and not one person will call him on it, because if they do, he'll drive a fucking tractor down to the ring and try to murder them, and get away with it. I really liked this match, and loved seeing Brock put Cody over like that at the end. It was less a "your Da was cool" and more "You earned this" which just makes Cody look like an even bigger star than he already made himself. I just wish the motivation for starting this was clearer. Like, did Brock come at Cody to test him? Was he close to Dusty and thought "before I hang it up for good, I'm going to push this guy and see if he can surpass his old man" and that is why he was telling Cody to stay down, as a test? Some things aren't so clear to me, but all in all, Cody won.

WHY is no one mentioning how Cody Rhodes buried his finisher? He's done this spot a bunch of times where he hits the Cross Rhodes 3 times in a row and not only does it look stupid but it buries the move..especially when it's not the finish...it's a NECK BREAKER...and you hit it 3 times in a row and it doesn't beat someone?

Everything about this was inch perfect other than the stairs spot, which, bothered me for about a minute before they sucked me back in. Top drawer, old school 'rasslin'. I haven't seen a match built around the count-out for a while, and Brock really had his working boots on.

4/10 match at best, nothing really separates it from their other matches. Cody spent more time out of the ring, climbs back in to just get sent back out. Brock does brock things. Get to the finish than they kiss and make up after what, 3-4 months of still not knowing why Brock kicked Cody's ass🤷🏾‍♂️

The way I saw it, was the fact that when Cody wasn't there, Brock was always the guy, he was always the champion. BUT, when Cody came back, it was almost like Brock looked at him and said "This motherfucker wants to take MY spot when he hasn't been here in a long time?!" type deal.

IM not that bothered by it since the rest of the match was so much beautiful compared to just stopping right there & then. You can chalk it up to the referee making a judgment call, you know, it’s not really affecting the outcome of the match anyway, so let it go, let the big Boys play, which sometimes happens in big nights like Wrestlemania or Summer Slam.

The match was good. They told the story but it wasn't super long think it was just over 15 minutes but they had Brock be the monster and Cody working underneath to eventually overcome the monster in the end and Brock sold everything really well and it was a good match. The main event was laid out similar with the heel dominanting for large portions but that match was 36 minutes which was way too long. and it felt even longer due to the pace and the using the furniture and stuff it was night an day in comparison
