Test inaccuracies are important. In the USA, we have 2 tests for Covid. The PCR test and the 15 minute test. The 15 minute test has a sensitivity of 80% with a specificity of 98.9%. The PCR test has a sensitivity of 87% and specificity of 97%. For the 15 minute test, the probability of being infected with Covid given the test came out positive is 74.15%. For the PCR test, the probability of being infected with Covid given a positive test result is 87.80%. For those checking my math this is for the US where 29.9 million people were infected out of a sample space of 332 million, therefore a 9% prevalence in the general population. Results calculated using conditional probabilities and Bayes' Theorem. In the situation involving Gerwin Price it would seem either test is good enough to detect if he had Covid. Testing again would be indicated if any errors were made in collecting, transporting, handling, and testing the sample.
