He was born an empath who was sxually abused by his step father and he carried that shame and rage forever. The huge disappointment he experienced when he got to Hollywood when he realized how in fact men as well, get the roles, he went nuts..drugs, fights..bankruptcy..it's heartbreaking but im glad he's still here and he hasn't changed. he is all the things u just said and we need more men like him.

Yes yes!!! Mr. Lee is genius in his method of allowing interesting people do all the heavy lifting and just be what they are INTERESTING!!! Lol I'm always amazed by how the average interviewer thinks he must keep the the interview restricted to his notes and questions when most people are more interesting even when their mind wanders into discussing a whole lot of stuff the interviewer never thought to ask! Like always its usually a problem of ego.

Mickey is a lot like Brando. Both of them are very skilled actors who are masculine, magnetic, and vulnerable and whose softness and sensitivity are masked by a harsh exterior due to their troubled childhoods. Brando's nanny left him, and his father abused him and his mother. Mickey's father left him, and then his mother married an abusive cop in Miami, Florida. Both of them openly dismissed many of the typecast movie stars of their era and expressed admiration for very few actors and actresses. Brando criticized Humphrey Bogart and Clark Gable for being the same in every movie and said that actors like them couldn't act their way out of a soapbox. To Mickey, film stars were Harrison Ford and Tom Cruise, and people he didn't like. He also said that these 20 million-dollar movie stars couldn't tie his shoes. Both Brando and Mickey were quintessential "director's actors", and they worked peacefully with directors whom they admired but caused a nightmarish set and raged against directors and producers whom they considered to be incompetent and phony. They have this realization that good movies come from good directors, and that the best movies are the ones that contain some type of moral message. Both of them were huge sex symbols for their generation. Brando was a huge star in the 50's but fell from grace in the 60's until he had his comeback with "The Godfather". Mickey was one of the hottest things on earth in the 80's, but his stardom fell in the 90's and had his comeback with "The Wrestler". Marlon blew James Mason and John Gielgud off the screen in "Julius Caesar". Mickey sent many of his co-stars to acting school like the cast of "Diner", William Hurt in "Body Heat", and Robert De Niro in "Angel Heart". Both of them have been broke more than once in their career. No one could hold a candle to both of them. Bob Dylan wrote that about Mickey in his first memoir when he saw "Homeboy". Both of them were hell raisers and considered to be bad boys.

He reveals himself at times to boxers but not professional interviewers and chat show hosts. A revealing interview with Mickey wearing his heart on his sleeve. I met Mickey in 1983 in Greenwich Village Ny. It was right after The Pope of Greenwich Village, he was filming 9 and a half weeks with Kim Basinger. I was a fan and he had his trailer on King st. He invited me in and I told him my wife was a fan also. He reached above and took a picture of him and her and signed it The Pope 83. So I could feel he is not a Hollywood guy. I’ve seen he has heart. I believe if it were Deniro, he would have told me to keep walking. Good luck with Pinocchio and Pacino. I met Al also, great interview Mickey.

All my respect to this man. 15 years flat broke, with a monthly budget of $ 600 for the rent and being handed out $200 from a buddy every month for food and his dogs food. He never let his dogs behind. Then stallone gave him a small part in a movie and he got another 8 months rent money. Stallone was great, and then he made to the wrestler, and expendables and now he’s fine financially and mentally speaking. He’s been forgotten, and made it back. He is a real person with no “celeb” bubble mindset. He’s nice to people in the streets IF you know how to approach him in a “street smarts “ manner. AND he’s a great actor, one of the best of all time. My hat’s off to him 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

❤️ Mickey Rourke he’s honest genuine soul would love to have a conversation with him. Nice to know there’s people who own their imperfections, passions, and sorrows. His story is relatable because he makes you feel appreciated for being real , decent and respectful. I mean what more can anyone want. None of us are perfect, except to our pets. If we could see ourselves the way they love us maybe we’d be less hard on ourselves and a little more forgiving. I ❤️ the way you ❤️ Your pets. They have been the saviors and true soul mates in my life too. I’m only here because of them too so I get it. Best thing that ever happened to me was being loved by my pets. 🐾🐾❤️😉 PS You are such a sexy man 😘 I really appreciate your genuineness. Rare. You are so special Mickey. A survivor. The gift from any struggle is maintaining the ability to have empathy and genuinely care about others without gain or expectations. Nicest feeling, next to caring for my pets...warms my heart to help and love those who really need it because I am one of those people. I just want to hug you, take a walk and hold your hand. Imagine life being that simple? Warmest regards and gratitude for all you have given of yourself to your art which I always enjoyed immensely. PS F The rich for they are always the weakest and the whiniest 🙄 I grew up from struggles but you and I are far richer than those with money because Money can always be gotten, but genuine character and conviction of ones self is something that cannot be bought. You a rare soul especially these days. I’d rather be dirt poor and kind than seriously rich and be a “Crybaby” he’s pathetic human being. How sad. I do try to pray for my enemies however, it helps me keep the love in my heart ❤️ 😌 Stay well Mickey. I think you deserve the best in life, because you earned it. 🙏 ❤️🌎 ✌️🕊🤝🤗
