I have The Best experience with Tesla and I can recommend it to anybody who is not so childish not to consider any product because of disliking the CEO. Those guys have hard time buying anything at all, VW founded by Hitler and together with BMW and Toyota cheated on poisonous emissions killing thousands of people, Ford founded by an antisemitist, iPhone created by a jerk,.. this list goes on and on, it is super stupid to turn rational purchase decisions to childish political statement. First, you think you punish Musk but you only punish yourself and your family if you opt for less safe, less efficient, less reliable, higher TCO or less pleasant experience option. Second, nobody knows you bought something else just not to buy a Tesla, from outside you just look like someone who thought all EV’s are the same or who didn’t make enough due diligence to choose or even consider Tesla. Third, there are so many customers buying Tesla your political statement of not buying one doesn’t make any difference and even if it would Elon Musk is not the one you are punishing but rather tens of thousands of hard working Tesla engineers, Tesla factories workers, Americans who invested in the biggest domestic EV maker that started and pushed everyone else into transition to sustainable transportation. Anyway you slice it, hating Tesla because of Musk is simply stupid.

I just assume everyone who drives a Tesla is a racist or doesn't mind supporting racism until I can be 100% sure they are just ignorant about Musk. However, buying a VW or BMW today is unlikely going to support the Nazi party. However, every Tesla you buy puts more money into Musk's pocket which he then uses to endorse Trump's campaign and other antisemitic and racist propaganda media outlets. The money I used to buy my Fords in no way contributes to Henry Ford's antisemitic propaganda 100 years ago. That's the same reason I don't eat Chick fil A. Every sandwich I buy there ultimately puts more money into the pockets of The American Family Association and I will not support that.

You also got an emergency handle to pull if you must get out. If you don't even know of the emergency handle on every door you don't know what you are talking about.

@@slyktech1860 you made wrongful assumptions concerning my post. It related to a recent tragedy whereby a Tesla went out of control, resulting in a collision that caused a thermal runaway. The occupants were all in their mid-20s and tragically lost their lives, barring a rear-seat passenger. She survived due to the quick thinking actions of a passerby who realised that she was trapped, broke the window and dragged her out. It resulted from the stupid decision to hide the emergency cable release for aesthetic reasons. Although she may have known where it was, the rapid-onset incident could have confused her. ICE cars, following the trend of electrifying everything, are as much to blame, but the only toxins in the event of a fire are from plastics. EV fires have suffer the same plastic toxins and the lethal ones from battery fire fumes.

I was a tesla fanboy in the beginning as well. I too thought elon musk was doing good with the reintroduction of electric vehicles. He was on the surface, optimistic, energetic, full of excitement for his EV company. But he was also the ONLY game in town. I am so glad I watched and waited. Then I saw the rapid evolution or should I say Devolution of him to what he is today. I will now never touch a product that has anything to do with him. He is arrogant, abusive of his employees, complete disregard for rules and the law, in fact he thinks laws and regulation do not apply to him. He has become a despicable human being. If you buy tesla because it has the best technology or whatever way you justify your purchase, just remember you are also in agreement with and condone his contempt of anyone who does not agree with him, his belligerent attitude to his clients/customers, right wing, inflammatory beliefs and utterances. Just my humble opinion.

So I got lost in all of the rambling about Elon Musk as if Elon Musk owns Tesla, and he does not, as we all know Tesla is a public traded company, and Elon Musk just happens to be its CEO, and the last time I checked, CEOs can be fired just like any other employee. So whatever someone talk to me about the CEO of a company I liken it to the story about what happened to Steve Jobs, and if you remember, he was fired, and as been reported he was not a very nice person, very hard to work for, very hard to get along with, and he was fired from the company he founded, but as the company decided for whatever reason to kiss and make up, and they hired them back, and as they say the rest is history, and so here’s the thing though, Steve Jobs, after steering the company back from the abyss, died, and so Apple had to find a new CEO, and they did and his name is Tim Cook, and the last time I checked Apple was doing just fine under the stewardship of a new CEO, that wasn’t Steve Jobs. So what makes you think that Elon Musk is going to be around forever? I mean he’s just a mire mortal like the rest of us, and he will either reach his term of usefulness, be fired or he will leave on his own accord. So the point is, everything changes with time, and people either die or they move on to other endeavors, and it will be no different in this particular case either. So don’t spend your time hating on Tesla because of your hatred for its CEO, as hate doesn’t look good on anyone, no matter the time of day or nigh. Cheers 🥂

Here’s a fun fact: I spent my first 12 years in Santa Cruz. That picture of the pier brings back memories-I used to fish there with my grandfather every week. It seems like we have a lot in common! The mistake myself and now others are making about Tesla is the following: viewing Tesla by the actual business they do ( selling cars ) the math doesn’t add up. The stock is hugely overpriced. It’s a fact, just compare it to the other car makers. However, Elon has created a cult, it includes all factions, science fiction, politics, himself as the worlds smartest man, going to the moon, robots, AI, he has annotated himself the king of the world but doesn’t own the world - yet. People don’t buy into Tesla anymore, they are buying into the king of the world. Look at DJT stock, same thing, it’s shouldn’t even be listed on the nasdaq much less be worth 16 dollars a share. The Elon stuff is not going away in my lifetime, we are stuck with him barring him committing some kind of crime ( possibly ) but I doubt it. I have a 2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV that I purchased used 9 years ago. No shame that it's the tiny battery runt of the litter from the early EV days. I've had it longer than either the Chevy Bolt EV or the Tesla Model 3 were available for sale. Despite certain desirable technological aspects of what Tesla is building, I would not consider buying one of their cars under current circumstances. Maybe I would if the Tesla board could eventually find some way to bump toxic Leon - uh, Elon - from the company. I respect Electrek for their stance on this issue.
