The colors are great! They aren’t rep parts, those KW and Project Mu colors are synonymous with those brands and trigger “quality” for anyone who knows what those are. VERY period correct for that build.

Just a side note. The wheels aren't evo's they're Marquis Promada. Evo's don't have the raised section in the center like that. The evo's center caps are a dome that goes in from the back.

Yup, scrolled down looking for this. you can run the center cap on marquis promada but not the evo ones.

Yea, and these v1 regas tend to develop cracks on the inside edges. Something the v2s aimed to fix by distributing more weight evenly on the hubs. knowing this i wouldnt want to run these 24/7...welding mag wheels and even trying to source spare OG GTR spec in 18s alone is really difficult. 18s are holy grail spec rega, 17s can find pretty easy

Never been sold on white wheels, but tire package and fitment is on point. Silver cars are hard to get wheel color right on no matter what you do. Unless you just do a basic black or gun metal type color.

The white doesn't do it for me either... they'd look better in Black/Gunmetal/Gold, but not white. Of course it's your car so do whatever YOU like. The rest of the suspension looks great and I love the shape of the wheels/tire combo, just not the color.

Congrats on making your dreams come true, PT. You busted your ass for a long time to get here, and I'm sure it wasn't always easy. My dream was to own a skyline an just a month ago I bought a 1999 Nissan Skyline R34 (HR34) 4 door sedan and it has over 200,000km on it but I had 1 owner and was imported from Japan. It needs some TLC but every time I look at it I get emotional because literally 4-5 years ago I always thought I’d never own one but here I am now at the age of 25 with my dream car. On top of that I’m the only one in my town that owns a 4 door skyline, there are only 3 in total in my town. Love you’re builds and can’t wait for more in the future from you guys!

Early in the video you guys mention adjusting the toe with the front traction rod. It's hard to tell if you do when you do the alignment, but I would be careful adjusting toe with the traction rod. The traction rod should be used primarily to reduce bump steer in the rear and the rear toe arm should be used to dial in toe. I found this out the hard way on my S13 track car. Alignment shop messed with the traction rods and the car developed some pretty terrifying bump steer under braking. I ended up borrowing a bump steer gauge from a friend and found out I had nearly 1" of bump steer through the suspension travel which explained my issue. Using the traction rod, I was able to get the bump steer down to ~1/8" through the full travel and then set the toe using the toe rod in the rear. Static alignment specs were identical before and after, but it made a night and day difference on track. No more squirmy rear end under braking.

Hey Pete, What you have are technically Desmond Regamaster Marquis Promadas. You can tell because of the raised center cap area. They are no different in construction than the Regamaster Evos (both forged Aluminium), but they can't run the same center cap for a few reasons: -The raised center cap area that accepts the Marquis Promada center caps are very different from the Evos; You would have to chuck the wheels up on a lathe and turn the centers down to get them to match the profile of the Evo. -Additionally, and the bigger issue: Desmond never made Evo "bullet" style center caps for anything bigger than the 15in/16in wheel center bore. Therefore, unless you added material back, you wouldn't be able to run them, and they would most likely interfere with the axle stub/axle nut at that point. If you wanted to run that style of center cap, it would be a custom ordeal. I wouldn't recommend 3D printing them as the low melting temperature of the filament would mean they will likely melt/distort under hard/track use. If you wanted to go down that route, you can definitely get the dimensions of the smaller caps and upsize them to your needs, but the wheel would still need to be turned. The original bullet caps were Titanium, which would be pointless for your setup because of the additional cost of material; aluminum would suffice. The MP center caps are no engineering marvel. They are old, so the resin top coat frequently cracks, and the retention mechanism is rather barbaric. I haven't heard of them popping out like some other center caps *cough* TE37s *cough*, but I probably wouldn't go on track with them in. As for the looks, I like them a lot, but to each his own. You can still find complete, uncracked sets in both black and white, but they are going to cost you a pretty penny, especially after COVID tax (the prices were pretty set around $400 USD pre-pandemic for an uncracked set, I have no idea what they go for now). In regards to the stickers, I agree that the Evo stickers would look somewhat out of place on this car, however, I would love to see the classic "Super Forged" stickers on one of the spokes. Matt from ICB sells them (because of the rerelease/release of the Evo2), and they would look fantastic against the white. If the custom Evo cap on the MP is something you wanted to pursue, let me know. I can draw them up in CAD and have them cut at a machine shop. The wheels would still have to be altered to accept them if you wanted to keep that original look.
@speedacademy2 жыл бұрын
I read online that they were magnesium and my powder coater confirmed that when he stripped them but he could be wrong? I did just source a new set of caps that are MPs so hoping they’ll be good!
