People sleep on Sengoku for no reason. Even Gol D Roger said that Sengoku and Garp are two of the only marines capable of catching him. But people don't give him the same respect as Garp because he isn't the grandfather of the main character.

Yeah Sengoku is one of the most interesting and complex characters in my book. But i am not sure about Sengoku not being Luffy's grandfather though. Foreshadowing wise he is the perfect candidate if Luffy's mother is of the Gol D. clan. He has an mythical Hito Hito no mi wich makes him gold, Afro luffy would be the first mythical Hito Hito no mi user with an afro among other hints. It would also make the fact that Sengoku had Roger executed in Logue town more interesting because Roger would probably be Sengoku's younger brother and served as a scapegoat, which is coincedental Sengoku's pet goat.

Having presented to me that Sengoku kind of is a grandpa to Law; It's funny to think of how Sengoku and Garp's dynamic is so similar to how Luffy and Law's dynamic works.. Law being the responsible one who has to reign in irresponsible Luffy, as Sengoku is/was to Garp. Garp and Luffy always laughing it off, as the other gets increasingly annoyed :') I love this show

Luffy being a zoan type user was already foreshadowed in impel down : 1. Ivankov said his hormone take effect in 2 days whereas luffy healed up in 20hours. 2. Crocodile said zoan user are very resilient and heal themself very quick when he was talking about the Demon Guards of impel down.

You remember that scene at Marineford when Sengoku hears from Brandnew about all the Impel Down escaped prisoners and tells Brandnew to write down every name and put out new wanted posters for them. Brandnew said he couldn't because it would hurt the Government's reputation and Sengoku replied with "I DON'T GIVE A DAMN!!!".

I know luffy most likely has to fight akainu as he killed ace, but a part of me wants sengoku to realize he can’t sit on the side lines and has to make a decision on what side he is on. Realizing the WG is corrupt, he stands against Akainu and brings true justice down on his ass. Maybe with Garp as he realizes the same thing. I think sengokus power is too interesting to not see in a grand fight. But who knows what angle Oda is going to go. I just enjoy the ride

Now that I think about it, Garp, Sengoku or both fighting Kong in the final war would be a epic battle. I believe this is likely as while we don't much about Kong, I think he's probably more of a Government dog than Garp and Sengoku are since he was once the Fleet Admiral and currently is the Commander-In-Chief of the World Government. I think Kong is a ass kisser and will stand with the Celestial Dragons when they decide to try to purge the world and try to restart everything.

It's a cool parallel to Luffy and Garp too. I think Sengoku empathizes with Garp when he stops him during the Paramount War. It was a situation he had done in his head thousands of times. "What if he was there when his son died? What would he do in this exact same situation?" As a father, I can tell you that would hit me different. He stopped him out of duty but in that moment I think he saw himself in Garp.

Sengoku's Buddha form is one of the most intimadting and badass looking transformations in the entire series. Seconded only to Enel's ultimate form(appearance wise). His shockwave attack also performed on par with Gura-Gura nomi's dimension shattering vibration attack. I wonder what this fruit's awakened form is like.

Maybe that is his awaken form. Luffy doesn't change his physical appearance until he awakens and I think that's because he's already human. Oda said that if a human eats the hito hito no mi they become more human, this is getting into headcanon territory but my interpretation of that is that if a human eats it they essentially still look the same but gain the attributes or abilities specific to the fruit. That would mean that sengoku's giant golden form could be similar to Luffy's gear 5, just a thought and probably wrong

I am thinking that the sudden aging after leaving the fleet admiral position is in purpose. Maybe, the gorosei extends admiral's youth in. similar way that they keep from aging themselves. So, now that he is out of that higher position hes back to how he was supposed to look... A similar age as Garp's age.

I love how characters in the series don’t have much screen time but Oda somehow adds such depths to characters. He did say “I rely on my audience intuition while writing OP”. Well yeah he truly does. I think Garp retired from the navy because he knows a moment will come that involves Luffy's life being threatened and since he'll no longer be a marine he'll jump in and help his grandson instead of watching like he did with Ace. Sengoku knew that if he stayed as fleet admiral he'll have to face off with Garp, so it was best for him to choose his friend's side.

You know what, I remembered in the Noland flashback where the ancient Shandians are praying for their gods, being The Sun(Luffy's Nika Nika no Mi), The Storm(possibly Dragon or Enel) and The Earth(since you mentioned Sengoku's sense of justice and Devil Fruit; though maybe it could also relate to Imu). There must be some sort of connection with those things.

I see Sengoku as the straight man to Garp's recklessness, and now he's retired he's able to relax and show a different side to himself. The flashbacks I want most are of those two in the days before the Great Pirate Era, and to find out what Sengoku's opinion of the God Valley incident were. I really like the idea of him being the leader of sword and is an idea it's something I've had in mind for a while. Sengoku was forced to do incredibly inhumane actions under the rule of the world government, but as we've seen he doesn't always agree with their commands. He was in a difficult position of being the one to give out orders and being the bad guy for it but I think it could be worse. He's a complex character and from the glimpse I saw from Law's back story, it seems like he was more than just a government dog. Objecting to the rules and assignments given to him by the WG would've been a good way to get him fired or lose their trust. If he wanted to defy them it would have to have been in a covert way so as to not arouse suspicion. In that way still keeping his position of power to try to soften the blow as much as possible by having sword help make things slightly less bloody. He had access to much more information due to his position, and keeping it was important for the bigger picture. Ironically unlike his DF he's not a God, he's just a man with a bloody past who didn't make the right decisions but maybe he tried to change the impact of the evil the WG could cause

I like to think that the older Sengoku becomes the more powerful he becomes due to a secondary effect of his fruit. Such as growing older and gaining experience can help you reach enlightenment, maybe if you have eaten that fruit then age equals more power or advanced techniques.

ONE PIECE THEORY MUST READ: once there was a kingdom on the moon that had advance science technology and its name was beerka. the people of beerka could make robots and dials (the things that they use in skypia). however, they migrate to the blue planet because they ran out of resources. (the blue planet is earth, and if you see the comic cuts with enel in it when he goes to the moon (check out the manga tab on this website), you can see writings that say people of beerka migrated to the blue planet because of lack of resources.) the ship schematic that the people of beerka used to migrate is probably the one that tom (franky's dad) had. when the people from the moon (beerka) came down to earth, they accepted everyone to join and use their technology in peace and soon developed into a huge kingdom. however, a secret organization wanted to take the power and authority of the beerka for themselves and started a war. So the Beerka developed three ancient weapons to win the war. the weapons are named the ''Pluton'', ''Poseidon'' and ''Uranus''. Pluton runs underneath the ocean floor to change the tides of the sea to make a shied against enemy ships. ''Poseidon'' ''Princess Shirahoshi'' her ability to summon ''Sea Kings''. Like Pluton and Poseidon, Uranus is a dangerous weapon which can be used to rule the world or, in the wrong hands, destroy it. But as of yet, absolutely nothing else is known about it. It was first mentioned during Nico Robin's conversation with King Neptune, when she says there are three ancient weapons that bear the names of 'gods'. the survivors of the people of the moon hide away from the secret organization and take the shape of the half moon D to use as their middle name. (this explains monkey D luffy, portgas D ace, gol D roger and so on) the secret organization that betrayed and destroyed the people of the moon name themselves "world government" and started a project to hide their wrongdoings. 1. they erase the 100 years of history of the war. (the 100 years of history (the void century) that robin wants to find) 2. they send 20 soldiers to the moon to erase any trace or evidence of the people of the moon. I think that one of the reasons behind his aging may be him constantly having to fight with his conscience - the guy has a different sense of "right"/"wrong" and "good"/"bad" than other high ranking navi officers afterall, much like Garp. Hey, you should check out surya the sun god (of 1000 rays) that rides a chariot with a symbol that personifies dawn, who i believe to be luffy and the sunny, and chandra the moon god (blackbeard) and also their relationship to the samudra-manthana (churning of the ocean), which I believe to be the origin of the one piece story. Especially the part about Indra (joyboy) and his elephant which made a big mistake. This is also a part of Buddhist culture which I think Oda believes in but not confirmed. If you also look at all the gifts they received(two tree's baring gifts) you will also see relations in them with one piece. You must google search these topics as youtube videos will not be able to do justice to this topic. This may very well be the missing history of the void century in this story.

I feel like Sengoku is one of the few characters that could get stronger with age. Going off of concepts rather than facts, it would be interesting if Sengoku gained more abilities/control of his fruit as he gained enlightenment like Buddha. He may have shorted himself by joining the navy and believing in a black and white version of justice, as true enlightenment would be so much more than that. Again just a personal opinion/theory. Not expecting it to be true, just simply thinks it would be cool. Also it would be cool if his awakening forced others into a temporary enlightenment and caused them to be unable to act on violence and hate similar to the ability in SDS but it would deny the negative emotions in general rather than those directed at himself
