Actually, Alabama does better than most of the SEC. The B1G forbids FCS games (ND has never played one), so many do schedule cupcakes and it is bad for cfb. If the NCAA rightly did not count those wins, it would end it for the better teams. I hope it happens. Schedule one exhibition before the regular season, if teams want a tune-up, and chance to help out the budget of a small school. Otherwise, forbid it.

We all realize Saban's Alabama is very good, and would be favored in any contest, but playing horrid schools is unacceptable for any school in the top 50 of America! They are playing Miami, which is fine, but no FCS schools, and the SEC and ACC need to go to a 9-league game schedule so the odds of meeting tougher foes in the other division are increased. I also want all P5 conferences to be 12 teams max, and geographically close. WVU is way out of place, and B1G stretching from Nebraska to NJ, or the SEC from mid-TX to SC equally ridiculous. No one expects every foe to be a Top 20 team, but at least respectable P5 and decent G5 competition.
@jky3889
@jky3889 3 жыл бұрын
@@jdhjimbo The 9-game conf schedule is a relatively recent thing, but B10ers act as if they've been doing it for decades & have been crying about it ever since the switch in 2016. In 2017 or 2018, I forget, the B10 had a horrible non-conference year, but still complained about the SEC. B10 had 7 or 8 G5 losses & several near misses and didn't fare that great vs P5. I do remember that PSU that year needed a last second FG & OT to beat Appalachian St. I think ARK was the only SEC team that year to lose to a G5.
@jdhjimbo
@jdhjimbo 3 жыл бұрын
@@jky3889 I am not sure who you are referring to when you say the B1G is always complaining? Individual posters on YT do not represent the entire fanbases of any conference. The B1G 9-game schedule has only been in place for 5 years, as well as the ban on FCS games (with 1 modification made 2 years ago - in a year when a team only had 4 home conference games (5 away), they could schedule 1 FCS team, since it would be hard to find 3 P5 or G5 schools to all do an away game, and most schools want 7 home games). I am not concerned about schedule changes that much for Alabama, but having 9 league games and rotating it every 2 years to allow home and away matches, every team would meet every team at least twice every 4 years, balancing the schedule for every team (provided there were 12 teams, which I prefer for every conference. A P6 conference would be created by taking some of the excess P5 teams and adding in some G5 to make a new Big East of 12 teams).
@jky3889
@jky3889 3 жыл бұрын
@@jdhjimbo B10ers complain about scheduling every time the SEC or ACC win a NC (now 6 in a row. and 14 of the last 15 NC) & they invariably complain about conf schedules. And the fact is the B10 does schedule FCS games: you can fudge it all you want, but the fact remains. Every conference has 4-5 good teams & 4-5 bad teams and scheduling won't change that. If you start dictating who plays who, the G5 & FCS will most likely suffer financially. The SEC & ACC each probably spread more revenue around than the B10. The 9-game conference schedule should mean that the B10 retains more of their revenue, so that should be an advantage for the B10.

Wait, when talking about Sam Darnold, Colin used “trunky” as a compliment. Now for Mac Jones it’s an insult...

So what do u want! Do we need to give the other conferences our players? This is absurd! If OSU wins last night there is no talk of this! They talk about our schedule and it was by far the toughest in the country hands down!

I'll be shocked if in 10 years that Joe Burrow has had a better career than Tony Romo did.

I kinda think that statement should've been... Every team Alabama played this season was insufficient for Alabama's offense. This team was dominant.. It had leadership... Talent and outstanding coaching. That's a tough combination to beat.

Ladies, you can't use the Mercer excuse this year. If ND or OSU was always winning you would have no problem.

B10ers have been harping on the 8 game SEC conference schedule for several years now. The thing is, the B10 switched to the 9 game conf schedule kind of recently (2016), but carry on like it's been decades. This year ALA had 10 reg seas conf games while nine B10 teams played fewer than 8, including OSU (to the B10ers, yes I know, covid). Still the facts, though.

SEC facing more G5/FCS teams means more revenue gets shifted to those schools. The Citadel was able to get a new scoreboard & make improvements to their athletic facilities (not just football) and had some money left over for other costs. I'm sure other G5/FCS programs will have similar stories. The B10 retains more of their own revenue, so their 9 game conf schedule should be an advantage.

@@jky3889 I know about the $ helping smaller schools, and I would have no problem letting everyone schedule one of those exhibitions before the regular season started, but the wins should not count toward a playoff or bowl resume. Years ago, George Allen, the former Redskins coach, but now at Long Beach State, approached Michigan about a game, as they were in danger of having to drop football entirely. UM agreed, beat LBSU, 49-0, but the Broncos revenue share from 107,000+ was more than enough to keep them going.

Joe Burrow has not yet proven to be at Tony Romo's level. Tony was an electric quarterback that was unfortunate to play at the end of the old era where d-lineman could pile drive the quarterback every time they sacked them. Burrow has promise, but let's not get ahead of ourselves on him.
